GTA VI news is seminal for this era of gaming. GTA V still sells like crazy; GTA VI is going to do the same, and maybe then some. Just thinking of the legs this game could have - people are probably going to be playing it into the 2030s - is crazy. Man, we are all getting old. I'm happy for it, but also strangely sad...
Anyway, I've been watching Monday Night Football and I heard the start of "My Silver Lining" by First Aid Kit as one of the commercial bumpers. It brought me back to Tales. Really, any time I hear any of those songs I flash back.
The trailer did give me Miami vibes, they captured the image of it well (I can say this as someone who grew up in Florida).
Leonida is definitely based on Florida. There's even that one shot of an Instagram-like post with the username PlanetLeonidaMan. Plus all those alligators.
I'm more worried if GTA 6 will even be on PC at all. Because it seems it will only be on consoles at launch.

I know that they released GTA 5 and RDR2 on PC 1-2 years later but then there's also the hacker problem with their online modes. Was hoping to mod just singleplayer. Guess I'll have to wait longer to find out.
Edit: The trailer did give me Miami vibes, they captured the image of it well (I can say this as someone who grew up in Florida).

I'm gonna be honest. Besides the graphic fidelity, the HD version of Vice City and character models, I'm not really impressed with GTA 6 trailer.
Not a fan of the fact that it takes place in modern days, with all its fictional social media trending worldwide. It is absolutely cliched and uninspiring. You know what made San Andreas and Vice City (Original) impressive? The story in those games took place in different decades than the release date. I got to experience stories in periods where I wasn't even born yet. GTA 4 may have took place in the year it was released but it came out at the time when social media wasn't a big thing and it was released in a decade where I was just a toddler and have small memories of it.
I fear GTA 6 isn't gonna have a good story and will be another parody just like GTA 5.
Vice City and San Andres were not at all impressive due to taking place in the past. That might have been its vibe for sure and more so for Vice City but if you asked what the best part of those games were to the average person I doubt taking place in the past would be the most common answer.
Also I am a bit tired of the "gta 5 story bad" which has seemingly only popped up recently and feels like this has only become a recent "problem" because the game is so old but still always being played thus making people think it is stale and having plenty of time to pick it apart over and over. Is it perfect? No, but it is not bad. And the parody critique is the worst. Literally every gta game has parodical elements and most people's enjoyment of gta comes from the characters more so than the actual storyline. And even then gta 6 will probably be less parody than previous entries at least that is my own prediction.
Best thing is to wait for more information anyway. Remember when everyone thought Arthur was going to be boring and everyone wanted to play as John?

Yeah I don't get this criticism. As far as I'm aware, every mainline GTA game (at least 3 and onwards) has had satirical elements mainly used to criticise or make fun of certain social/political issues during whatever time period the games take place and were never particularly subtle about it.

I remember when GTA V came out there was general favorable views of the story. Probably the most single hated thing was the fact that Trevor straight up stomps the beloved Johnny Klebitz to death in the first three minutes of his screen time. It's a fine story in my book; there are fun step pieces, entertaining characters, and I find the satire and parody to be pretty good. Some of those radio shows (looking at you, Chakra Attack) make me laugh even though I've literally heard them a hundred times. GTA V also does have emotional stakes, they are not just as obviously tragic as people may realize.
I think GTA Online's legs have colored people's assessment of GTA V's story. GTA Online has been going strong for years now and has added a ton of more-modern satire, some of which is not especially compelling. It kinda changes the feel of the game.
GTA VI will have satire and parody, this much is true (I mean it's set in their very own Florida expy, and we all know how politics have been since GTA V), but I think it will have an element of tragedy. How many 'Bonnie & Clyde' stories have a happy ending? In any case, when you have multiple playable characters, you are basically setting yourself up for someone to potentially die.

Compared to San Andreas, 4 and hell even Vice City, GTA 5 story is just as good as a Fast and Furious movie. I just can't think of some character development that happpened in that game. The only time I remember one of the protags acting different than what they are usually known for is Trevor when he escorts the old lady back to her husband (Already forgot their names, that's how forgettable most of the GTA5 characters are).
I don't need to mention the villains. What is there to say about them? Remember Stretch? Franklin's old "partner" who helped him and Lamar kill some Ballas? He only appears in one mission, then he is M.I.A. throughout the story until the true ending. It took me actually years to figure out what this character was up to. Was I supposed to feel satisfied because I finally killed him? I hardly knew him.
TL:DR Most of the story in GTA 5 is just heist missions. We barely have any missions where we see the main characters developing and hanging out with each other.

I mean sure but everything you are saying can be applied to every other gta game I do not understand the focus on acting like this is only a 5 thing. It just comes off very rose tinted glasses to me. Every gta game is inspired by something and maybe you simply found the genre they chose for gta 5 to not be your favorite. My main issue with these kind of gta 5 critiques is the acting like what is being said can't also be said about the other gtas.

Me explaining how Telltale randomly putting a ton of their games on sale for steam the day before the game awards is 100% a sign that tomorrow they show off wolf 2

I just found out Amazon Prime Canada has 2005-onward Doctor Who seasons, and that's awesome because I haven't found any streaming sites in Canada that have it all throughout this year!
I dunno when they added it, but oooh I'm gonna start a fun rewatch then!
Not to be overly gloomy about no Wolf 2 at game awards but man I do wish Telltale did the yearly not at game awards update thing saying when to expect news again. Maybe they still will. Best guess we have now is "sometime early next year" but this was also said seemingly before the layoffs and was a bit off handed rather than being an actual statement. Mainly worried because when that layoff news broke the way he mentioned Wolf 2 sounded like he was let go believing Wolf 2 was not close to being in a state where it could be considered near completion. Honestly I think something did happen with development. The hopeful reason is because the whole Bill Willingham public domain stuff they decided to go back and change stuff because they want to go fully noncanon now that they can (although they always could you know what I mean.) Bill's complaints seemed to have been happening for a while and maybe back in March was when they fully said "Screw it let's rewrite some stuff and do a delay to rework stuff. At least that would mean the delay was more of a choice rather than a necessary outcome due to poor planning. If the game was suppose to come out this year I would have imagined they'd have something to show and would have wanted to show it at the game awards. I just hope Wolf 2 it all works out for everyone involved.
This is literally the only game announcement that earned all of my attention.
I'm not a hardcore Jurassic Park fan, not as I used to be. But I always wondered, after playing Peter Jackson's King Kong 2005 game, why was there never a horror game set in the Jurassic Park world until now? I'm a fan of the survival horror genre which is why I'm curious about what this game is going to be. They should show more of this game in the later months. I hope it takes the same steps as Alien Isolation. Have me posses guns but still feel vulnerable towards dinosaurs.
I keep thinking about how Timothee Chalamet was just... there... to announce the GOTY winner.
HUH?? WHY??
Plus, all those other hollywood celeb appearances that clearly went of script and tried to do some bit for way too long.
What the hell, Anthony Mackie? I think he's nice and fun, but damn, not the time or place or care in the world...
It’s been 24 hours, and I’m still salty that instead of giving us Dishonored 3 to make up for their flop of a 3rd person vampire hunting game, Arkane announced…a 3rd person vampire hunting game, but with a recognizable brand name to appeal to the masses.
It feels like we’re never going to get that Dishonored 3 now, and that makes me sad.
I keep thinking about how Timothee Chalamet was just... there... to announce the GOTY winner.
Yeah I thought there'd be some Dune related ad or something. But it turns out he actually used to have a YouTube channel before he got famous where he showed off his custom painted controllers which is why Geoff called him ModdedController360. I assume that's why he was invited to do that one segment. For the lolz.

I should rewatch Jurassic Park at some point. It's been a long time since I have seen it.
I should also probably rewatch the game over deaths from Telltale's Jurassic Park.
Me in 2027 finally playing Wolf 2 when after all this time waiting it ends with Bigby saying "That's the thing Snow. I got Faith." as he jumps through some time travel portal thing to reveal that it wasn't Faith or Nerissa it was in fact Bigby from the future disguised as Faith who set the story in motion.
I agree. After Season 1, The Walking Dead didn't have any interesting game-over deaths. I can't think of any except the one in A New Frontier where Clementine gets devoured by a walker with Kenny watching helplessly and Javier hitting his stupid head on a balcony and falling.

Spider-Man 2 and Baldur's Gate 3 social war on Twitter while I sit here being happy that Alan Wake 2 won three awards and performed Herald of Darkness at TGA.
Thought up a 3D remake of one of my favorite games Bastion with an art style similar to Kena: Bridge of Spirits and now I’m sad that I’ll never get to play it.

At this point Wolf fans will slowly become more and more insane due to lack of content, soon this will be the r/batmanarkham of telltale.
tomorrow will be great
Heading into the game awards looking forward to the Wolf 2 trailer
The Super Show:
What if Wolf 2 IS the Super Show?
Why doesn't Bigby just turn into a wolf to dispatch ALL his enemies? Is he stupid?
I agree, I found GTA 5's story and cutscenes consistently entertaining, which is more than I can say for GTA 4.
Why didn't Bigby just ask the mirror who the killer was? Is he stupid?
Why is Big smoking? Doesn't he know smoking is bad? Is he an addict?

Speaking of this...
Man I forgot how hard they went with the deaths in this game lol. I remember being freaked out by the shipping crate one when I first saw it.
I really like that some of the deaths had reactions from other characters. Kinda wish Walking Dead had some of those.

Yeah that’s kinda niche but I had to share.
