Absolutely! I was thinking this yesterday as I got through to the end of Chapter 5 (I have had the game since just after pre-order and just finished, I know for shame, but I had to finish stupid pesky college before I could get back to gaming.)

I was shocked to see different facets of Guybrush's character and the new characters for this game were very impressive (Morgan particularly.)
After watching that ToMI is bumped to my second favorite in the series (though I haven't played through SoMI2:SE yet)

    Curse
    ToMI
    Lechuck
    SoMI:SE
    Escape

is my new list, though the interface irked me to no end with Lechuck's revenge and with that fixed in the SE version, it might hop up to the top, though I traditionally always rank Curse above Lechuck, since I like that version of the story to the "Children's Dream" version (though I do think that that was Gilbert's intention.)

That's basically my list (except with Tales and Curse on par with each other). But, then again, my list could be completely different from one day to the next.

I, too, prefer the the Curse-onward version of the story. I personally hate the idea of the whole Monkey Island story and world taking place within the mind of a child, and I actually fear that this was the idea that Gilbert may have had in mind for the series. In which case, 'Curse of Monkey Island' saved the series from the brink of disaster.

I feel sorry for this guy. He did a good job. I had nothing against the voice versions of the game that I have. I haven't ordered my TOMI Earl copies yet. I think I'll make copies of the versions I have now. It's not fair that these copies just disappear.

Adam said in another thread to not feel bad for him, and that these things happen.

Yeah, I'm keeping the old game files, it'll be a collectors item once the original version is taken down, which I also think that it shouldn't. I wonder if Telltale would keep the old download available for download if we asked directly.

Also Adam, I have a few more questions that I'd like to ask, assuming you'll return to this thread:

    1. Is there any franchise or series that you'd particularly like to do voice acting for, anything in particular that would be a dream to be able to work on?
    2. Is there anyone who you look up to in the voice over business?
    3. Can you sing?
    4. [Not related to voice acting] what sort of music do you like?

Feel free to ramble on any of these.

I played a mysterious phone caller who guides the player called "The Voice".

That was a very nice session! Looking forward to working together with you again some time soon. :)

Just got say, I didn't think Adam did a bad job in ch 1 as LeChuck. Yeah, I could tell it wasn't Earl Boen but the whole imitating a dead zombie guy was still pretty good. I didn't know he did Moose as well. Thought he did good on that. It's hard recasting a role.

I loved Adams voice-over on LeChuck in the first one, the laugh was a bit meh, but I really like everything else.
When Boen came back it sounded a bit bland and I was a bit disappointed, I just didn't feel the same energy come out of LeChuck when he voiced him.

But I do agree that Boen is LeChuck, but Adam did a damn good job.

Jan!! Great to see you here! I always enjoy working for Nick, Tom and the rest of the crew at Somatone. I had to tell Tom how to pronounce your name before we patched in with you. But please don't tell him I told you that. ;-)

I'm so glad you found me here. Now I can pester you about getting some clips of the "The Voice" to add to my newest video reel. It's still a work in progress, but here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lfz7B5WPjko

Is there any way you could post some of my work on Jade Rousseau to youtube? That way I could download and edit my parts. If not, no biggie. I'll just wait for someone to post a walkthrough with passable audio and video quality, like most of the clips on my old gaming character reel: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JzRfAVkR-Ho

But I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask. And I haven't been able to find a walkthrough yet.

What are you doing at the TT forum page? Do you work for them sometimes? Such a cool coincidence that we found eachother here.

    Small world.

Let's stay connected, and I hope to work with you again soon!

Sorry it took so long to get back to you Hayden, I'll attempt to answer your questions now, and hopefully you'll see this.

    OK...

1- Ideally, any game where I have a recurring role in a franchise that will eventually have the number 2 or 7 or.... 96 at the end of the title. GTA would be my second wish. Announcing an NFL or MLB game would be cool too.

2- Too many to list here, but the late, great Don Lafontaine (AKA The Movie Trailer Guy) is one that stands out. Don was THE MAN and I want to be just like him when I grow up. Billy West (Howard Stern Show, Ren and Stimpy, Futurama) Orson Welles, hmmmm.... Cheech and Chong's old albums were a huge influence too. Every one on this list (except maybe Billy) are WAAAYYY before your time though I'm guessing.

3- Absolutely!! But nobody would ever want to hear me doing it. I'm asked to sing during vo gigs quite often, but it is usually bad singing for comedy's sake.

4- Lots of stuff. Rock, Reggae, Old School Hip-Hop (some of the new Hip-Hop is ok but I'll take Run DMC over Kanye and TI if I had to choose), Classical sometimes. I'll give any music at least one try, but those four genres are what I mostly stick to.

Once again, thanks for all the support Hayden. And sorry this reply took so long.

That's alright man, at least you did :).

Here's to hoping the Monkey Island series reaches those sorts of figures. Perhaps not 96, though... but then again.
GTA would be my second wish.

Even as an unfortunate dying victim pedestrian?
Announcing an NFL or MLB game would be cool too.

I take it you're referring to video games?
Billy West (Howard Stern Show, Ren and Stimpy, Futurama)

Yes, that guy is incredible. I never would have thought that about half of the main characters were voiced by the same guy.
Every one on this list (except maybe Billy) are WAAAYYY before your time though I'm guessing.

Right you are, but nothing a quick wikipedia search can't solve. And I do know of Cheech and Chong.
3- Absolutely!! But nobody would ever want to hear me doing it. I'm asked to sing during vo gigs quite often, but it is usually bad singing for comedy's sake.

Hmmm, perhaps I should have rephrased my question to "Can you sing well?". :)

Wow, varied. I wouldn't expect a person to like both Hip-hop and Classical music. They're both basically at opposite ends of the music spectrum.

By the way, if you're willing, could you drop a few names of your favourite rock artists and bands?
Once again, thanks for all the support Hayden. And sorry this reply took so long.

    Once again, that's alright.

I love how your initials double as a sigh of relief :D.

Hey, Adam! You noticed how Earl Boen's LeChuck of Tales of Monkey Island sounds more like a grumpy old man than a young, middle-aged bada$$ pirate from Curse of Monkey Island? From the way your LeChuck sounded in Chapter 1, did he ever sound more like a cross between an Irish Jonathan Davis of Korn and a grandma? Oh, and the way Kevin Blackton's human LeChuck sounded in a deep voice from Chapters 2 through 4, he sounds like a deep-voiced Black-American, am I right? :)
  • edited August 2010
I can honestly say that I enjoyed his more than Earl's. I can honestly say that.

Yes, I think that I can agree. Earl sounded great in the last two episodes, and I'm glad he made a return, but he was just unable to nail the lines in Episode 1. When I was replaying the new 'Earl version', it just didn't seem right, I kept expecting to hear Adam's voice. Perhaps the lines only sounded wrong because I'd gotten so used to the way they were originally (with Adam's rendition), but either way, I still enjoyed Adam's more.

I didn't notice that the voice of LeChuck in the episode 1 (by Adam Harrington) was different from the one in other episodes (by Earl Boen) until I read this thread. I also didn't think Moose was played by the same voice actor. Was Adam trying to sound like the Earl Boen's LeChuck? If so, he must be really good.

Thanks so much! I've got a Danish fan!! ;-)

    Your very welcome.

But I agree with everyone else, your job on Moose was really awesome.

That was the good stuff, Bra'. :D

He's actually a really nice guy, too. You can tell, he's cool. Down to Earth and I just hope that he doesn't see beneath himself, because like I said I enjoyed his Le chuck more than Earl's.

He sort of spoke to me, once...so I might look into more of his games just for fun. He's cool.

You know, Adam Harrington's voiceover will be immortilized in the WiiWare version, it was never updated.

Thanks for replying to my youtube vid Adam (CobraCommanderNLD).

As I said in this forum, i didn't dislike your voice except for the harharhar part.
The video was only uploaded so fans and TTG could see that they haven't done all lines in the "Boen" edition.
