  • I never really doubted that he'd be resurrected by Melisandre, and this pretty much confirms it.

  • It was pretty obvious but not certain.

  • Yep, didn't really doubt it anyway, but I am surprised that HBO puts him in a teaser poster after the crew constantly insisting that he isn't coming back :D I guess they gave up since there has been some leaks anyway.

Also, now we know that the season starts in April (there was some worrying that it would be pushed to May this year) :)

  • Not certain, but very likely. I mean, Melisandre rode off just before Stannis marched to his doom (I think Stannis is really dead). I suspected that she'd return to the Wall just in time to save Jon, and I guess that's what's going to happen.

  • This doesn't mean he's coming back (though I think he will) his death was such a big deal and I imagine characters in the show will be talking about it. Is he missing an eye in the poster?

He is confirmed dead. Brianne cut off his head.

''Brienne then swings her sword, Oathkeeper, at him, killing him. Despite his death, however, Stannis manages to obtain a small victory over the Boltons by buying Sansa Stark enough time to escape from Winterfell with Theon Greyjoy, severely weakening Roose Bolton's hold on the North.''

No, I don't think he's missing an eye, I think it's just his hair and the lighting.

  • You're probably right but it looks like he's bleeding out of his eye to me.

But I do expect there to be a twist to his appearance or personality (if Mel resurrects him).

  • All hail the true king in the north ! But yeah everyone and their mother knew he was coming back , he just might have a more "darker " personality now ,like that one guy says to Jon "kill the boy , let the man be born"

  • Yeah. No more Mr. Nice Guy.

  • The wiki is edited by fans, but I believe I also read in an interview with someone working on the show that he is definitley dead.

  • The Boy is dead, the Man is born.

  • R.I.P. Boy.

The Boy is dead, the Man is born.

  • GRRM confirmed Stannis is alive in the books. That wiki is the show wiki, meaning he is confirmed dead only in the show. So in a sense we're both right and wrong.

  • I never said you're wrong. All I said was that the wiki is edited by fans like you and I, so they only know as much as us and can't confirm anything a 100% (if that's not what you meant, then I'm sorry, I'm tired and might miss your point :P)

  • For what it's worth the official "Beautiful Death" poster of the last episode was Stannis' death. HBO decides which deaths those posters are made of and there would certainly been other options than Stannis but they precisely wanted a poster of his death. Any of the Beautiful Death posters so far haven't been made of characters that turn out to be alive. If they didn't care about if the character really stays dead and just wanted to take the most emotional death of the episode, they would have taken Jon instead of Stannis.

  • True, probably 24th.

  • Yeah he's coming back. Keen eyed viewers know his story isn't resolved yet. If he wasn't returning, HBO know this kind of pic would get more attention, thus more revenue for them :)

  • We seriously need to have another talk about the wiki?? Le sigh
