Will we be forced to kill Gwyn in season 2?
In episode six you can kill only one Whitehill, Ludd or Gryff. In season two, one of them will be alive. When the time comes will Gwyn help house Forrester or house Whitehill? Will she help slaughter the remaing Forresters or will she help the Forresters survive?

Well I guess if you're Rodrik she'll do the exact same thing she's been doing in Season One - Indirectly helping the Forresters and trying to have peace between the Houses. Even tho she might be pissed at you for killing her brother/father.
If you killed her father/brother on purpose as Asher I think she wont care anymore and will just try to keep her and her family away from the Forresters as most as possible.
If you called of the plan and intended to marry her as Asher she will probably help you as best as she can.
Good question. We have to wait and see however I am agreeing with @IronWoodLover on the Asher part. Rodrick I am not sure I have seen gameplay for him in the last episode. Everyone walkthroughs I have seen choose Asher. he is a default choice because he was a fan fav.
I hope not. She's the only one who's really trying to achieve peace between the two families and preserve the Ironwood groves.
If she got pregnant with Asher's baby then the son/daughter would be a Forrester so Ironrath still would be in Forrester hands and she's able to manipulate her father. One would hope that with Gryff out of the way Ludd might be more receptive to peace -- mad and upset and irrational, to be sure, but receptive. The Forresters have lost two sons and the Whitehills lost one son.
But then again, Ludd probably thinks he has the upper hand and that even though Ryon escaped Asher/Rodrik are probably dead. So he might let it all go to his head.
Forced?
I'll kill her the first chance I get. Although that's unlikely since:
I'll gladly do it voluntarily. I don't want her help nor her sympathies. She is an enemy and a threat. One that's easier to manipulate tho... maybe I'll use her, then dispose of her.
I hope we get to kill her.
Fck the btch :P
I feel kind of bad for Gwyn. She really did want peace and she seemed to really want to marry Asher. Too bad the rest of her family are dickheads.
I will gladly kill her the second I get the chance
Good lord.
So WHY exactly is Gwyn Whitehill so hated? I mean her intentions are at least genuine, to forge peace. Why has such a character been so near universally panned by players?
I think Asher wants to fck the btch pretty hard.
Because shes a hypocrite, blind to what her family does and just generally an idiot. Shes adamant that asher has to surrender to her family and cant understand why he is upset, then she snaps and says hes ruiend everything after he kills one of her family (they killed several of ours). She doesnt seem to care or notice how horrible her family is, she constantly justifies their bullshit. Shes also incredibly naive thinking that any of her peace plans would ever work.
In addition she cant be killed which always makes someone more dislikeable and also the game clearly expects us to feel bad for her or like her, even when she stabs you asher just stands there looking sad. Its just the sane reason Arvo is so hated in the walking dead, the game attempts to garner sympathy and it just fails badly.
Maybe cause we're tired of her bullshit. She claims it will help the Forresters if they follow her family's orders without question, if they bend the knee without a fight and submit to the Whitehills completely. She proposes they forget the fact that her family MURDERED Rodrik and then casually strolls to the hall where her father smiled, as Ramsay murdered Ethan. And then she tries to play with Asher's head and under the charade of "peace" , she begs him not to hurt her disgusting family. And then there's the fact of her extreme hypocrisy. 3 prime examples are:
Asher kills Gryff in a fair fight, avenging his brothers. Before the ambush he warns Gwyn that he cannot promise not to hurt her family. Her reaction: "You ruined everything!"
Rodrik arrives at Highpoint: Royland mentions that their soliders seem on edge, to which Gwyn replies: "Well what do you expect? The way they see it, their enemy is inside their walls." O_O YOUR FUCKING BROTHER IS OCCUPYING OUR HOME RIGHT NOW! WITHOUT OUR PERMISSION, HE DISHONORED OUR HALL, BEATEN OUR HOUSEHOLD, THREATENED US WITH MURDER, PUNCHED THE LORD OF THE KEEP HE WAS STAYING IN, AND LET HIS VAGABOND SOLIDERS SHIT ALL OVER OUR FUCKING HOME! SO DON'T YOU DARE USE THAT FUCKING TONE WITH ME, YOU BLIND, FOOLISH, LYING HYPOCRITE! (My initial reaction)
Also, as somebody alredy mentioned, she claims she knows how we feel, that she knows what we're going through, and the second she actually does know how it feel, she immidiately stabs Ahser in the back. She is also powerless to actually do anything, or she actually doesn't want to do anything. So we're better with her dead. Asher deserves someone better.
Wow... those are some pretty valid points.
When even aManWhoLovesTelltale (known for defending Telltale's flaws) criticizes Gwyn Whitehill, that's got to be one hell of an indication of just how much hate this character has garnered... it makes me wonder if Telltale is aware of Gwyn's lack of popularity and if this means she can be killed off in the second season.
As much as I hate the Whitehills and everything they stand for, I cant blame her for defending her family. That felt perfectly natural to me. Family is everything to the people in the GOT universe.
To answer your question: people seem to hate her and want to murder her because she's an hypocrite. Because that's what you do kids! You found an hypocrite on the steets? Don't forget to murder him!
There is nothing wrong with that she is loyal to her family, it would actually disturb me if she was not. But she claims to be working for the benefit of both families, which is not true. Being forced to submit to the Whitehills is not a benefit for the Forresters.
I must add that i don't have a playthrough with Asher, so i don't know what happens in episode 6 with Gwyn.
I sure hope we aren't forced to kill her, she was in my ending and I'd love a peace ending.
If you chose to sacrifice Asher to the Whitehills, Gwyn would probably be horrified to see her beloved's mutilated body being made fun of by her family and fed to the dogs. She would probably start hating her father and brother for doing this and help Rodrik when she can. We have already seen something that supports this theory; she sends a Whitehill rider with a message to inform Rodrik that the Whitehill army will be at the gates of Ironrath by nightfall. Perhaps she will continue to aid Rodrik in the future so they can avenge Ashers death together. If so Rodrik would have no reason to kill her.
Let's just hope she doesn't have her plot armor on when S2 arrives (How do you think she survived the ambush, no one attacked her for God's sake)
Number 2 is the sad truth of this game. Episode 4 stood out because it was the only episode where something actually went right. Nothing else went right - we weren't allowed a single moment of victory as Ethan Rodrik, Mira or Gared outside of that episode...
And even then, Hurricane Ramsay blew in from Plot Armour bay and tore down everything we achieved in ten minutes... I do think that (illogically) things will get better in season 2. It's simply impossible to have us operating as just Rodrik/asher + talia + sentinel/traitor/Gwyn. There has to be something that lets us strike back... and if they keep just beating us into the mud we honestly don't have much further to go down. Elissa dead, Asher/Rodrik dead, Mira dead, Cotter dead, finn dead, Ludd probably alive, Elaena kidnapped, Gwyn betraying us...
Theres not much more that can go wrong. It's all uphill from here, right?
She just waltzed on out after injuring the second best (or maybe best) fighter in the series. Her plot armour is second only to Ramsay's (at least Ludd's armour makes sense...)
I think what we really need is a playable Whitehill in Season 2. It's gotten to the stage where people are practically masturbating over the prospect of being able to kill even relatively innocent members of their house, which is not what GRRM's series (which frequently shows the readers events from both sides of a conflict) is supposed to be about.
This.
When you play the game of thrones, things gets worse before they get better. :P
you guys need to look at it differently. While Gwyn's statements may seem callous (and hypocritical), look at it from another angle: if you agree to her plan and call off your efforts to kill the Whitehills, you're showing her that you can be trusted. Then, when all hell breaks loose, Gryff dies in the chaos and she sees that her family is never going to be persuaded into doing anything. With the other brother studying at the Citadel and possibly becoming a Maester, he would have no claims to the Whitehill lands potentially. This would leave Gwyn as the next person to take control of the Whitehill lands should something happen to Torrhen, once Ludd kicks the bucket -- which Gwyn will help you accomplish now. And given Westeros' brutality, it's likely Torrhen might die himself just from the wars going on, fighting for House Bolton.
I think Telltale would go that route so they could have Gryff assume control and be the tyrant he's always dreamt of being -- kicking puppies isn't enough for him. It's what I'd do if I was writing this out.
And by marrying Asher, they would become equals. Nay, House Forrester would ascend to become the newly appointed House Forrester of Whitehill, due to the laws of inheritance in Westeros.
All of you advocating for her death are thinking only in the short-term. I'm not saying your points aren't valid, but I'm looking at it from the political angle. A few months of dealing with shit for a new means to expand and grow and prosper afterwards? Def. worth it.
EDIT: Threw in Torrhen's name for full accuracy. Thanks ousen.
Torrhen is Ludd's heir.
This ^
Ah, I seem to have forgotten Ludd had 4 sons - you'd think I would've remembered Gryff was the fourthborn son, given that he had a chip on his shoulder.
Still, I like to think that's what Gywn wants to do.
Not for the Forresters.
I could see why... Sorry.
Why? Because she stabbed you in the back, when you flat out lied in her face? Or because she is just annoying?
Id happily play as The other whitehill brother sure. I honestly hate Gwyn more than any of the others aside from maybe Gryff. ludd at least doesnt pretend to be anything else.
Dafuq?
Yes.
yep
@ranger563. Which is why they should've made Ryon a POV as a Whitehill hostage. Or made Ethan the hostage instead of killing him purely for shock value.
@Differic. If Telltale chose to do this, i.e. take Gwyn from being a hated conspirator against the Foresters to actually being a victim of her own families actions <-----------THIS, this would be more in keeping with GRRM's style than killing off everyone in sight!
GRRM himself does this when he takes Tyrion, who for most of the story he had made everyone sympathise with. He flipped this on it's head and made us see a darker more monstrous side to him. Then he took Jamie whom everyone had previously despised and though his POV chapters showed us a different more likeable side to him.
damn I didn't even hate Gwyn till i read this. This post is like a fine line of hater-aid that is cooling to drink and settles down the throat smoothly.
Playing the hostage, subject to further abuse from the Whitehills, wouldn't exactly do much to make the player like them either. It might give us a better look at what Gwyn's up to, but as I said, I think getting to play as her brother will let us see that in S2 anyway.
