Should I even play the Michonne game?

I have been playing the series on Vita. As of yet, I haven't heard anything about how the Michonne game's choices might affect Season Three or if they will at all. It seems like the Vita has all but been dropped by Telltale, so I don't know what to do.

  • They've said it's a standalone story, but haven't said if it would affect Season 3. I would be kind of confused if this isn't didn't have some affect, even if it's minor.

Maybe hold off for a bit?

  • That's exactly the reason I won't play this. It doesn't affect the original game and I'm not digging Michonne at all.

  • I would have preferred another DLC with the 400 Days characters.

  • I'm just trying to find out if I have to wait for a Vita version or can just get this on another console.

  • I would imagine Telltale would use this oppertunity to create some characters that will flow into season 3, would seem a bit silly if they didn't.

  • I'm sure it'll effect season 3 and have some references to seasons 1 and 2

  • im hoping it'll fill in the time gap in the comics, not sure if itll take place then or before she arrives at the prison

  • It takes place between issues #126 and #139, way after the prison.

  • haven't bothered buying this yet, i wait till S3 with Clementine.

  • Correct me if I'm wrong but I remember seeing a tweet that said it's definitely advised to play the Michonne game and that the mini-series would have an impact on season 3. I'll try to find the tweet.

It's hard to say. Minecraft: Story Mode is apparently coming to PS Vita, so Telltale seems to have not dropped support completely. It's possible that Michonne will come to Vita after the season is over (or midway through the season, like the Wii U port of Minecraft: Story Mode), but nothing is concrete.

Michonne has also been said to be more contained than 400 Days, and that it won't require save files to play. However, it's not been said that it won't use save files at all, so it's still unknown how much choices in previous games will have an affect on the story, or how much choices in Michonne will have an affect on season three. From the statements that have been said though, it seems like any choices affecting future games (or past games affecting Michonne) will be minimal.

  • good to hear

  • Nope. It's a stand alone that has nothing to do with Season 3

Stand-alone just means that it won't need Season Two to play (as it was originally announced as DLC). We still don't know how how much Michonne will affect Season Three (or whether the previous seasons will be referenced, or if characters from previous episodes will show up in Michonne).

Season Three could have a little bit of references from Michonne, it could have none at all, or it could have a character show up as a major character in season three like season two had with 400 Days.

They did state that The Walking Dead: Michonne would fill in gaps in the story, but exactly what that entails is anyone's guess right now. It could be that they will show some things that were left unexplained in Season Two or 400 Days, or possibly even Season One, or maybe it will tell the story between the two year gap in the comics, and Season Three will start after that gap (but, although a two year skip in Telltale's story is possible, to catch up with the comic universe, it has not been confirmed at this point).

  • Yes. Michonne's backstory is such an interesting arc in the comic books and the TV series. She's always been a fascinating character with a complex mind, and to take a step inside of her world would be a TWD fans dream. Whether or not it affects Season 3 is completely irrelevant, what IS relevant though is that the lovely ladies and gents at Telltale are working their asses off and making an amazing game taking us deeper into the mind of the series' most interesting character. So yes, you should play it IMO.

  • It's not about the character. Can anyone show me something that says it is a standalone game?

  • The game is coming out for iOS soon, and I don't know what to do. I wish Telltale would answer.
