Bundle, tell me this is wrong.

So I have Xbox One and was planning on playing ep 1 tomorrow. Since XBL is having major issues right now I cant even look at the game menu inside of the store. However when I go to XB.com and look at the store in there. It almost appears as if there is no option to download the episodes seperately and the only choice is to pay for ALL of them at once. Seriously? Yeah I get it....its not the biggest deal in the world but I only see this hurting sales in the long run....not to mention I had exactly 5$ left on a giftcard I was going to use to buy ep 1. I wasn't planning on having to use my card....

Tell me this isn't true...it seems like it can't be. We have no option but to pay for an entire game that isnt even out yet?

  • Talking about Michone obviously.

  • Wow, this is actually true. Horrible decision...why on Earth would you remove the ability to buy the episodes as you see fit?

This is just going to make new players LESS likely to start the game with the Michone series.

  • I bought that "bundle" but now I'm not sure because rigt after the episode it said "do u want to buy the season pass" so like what the fuck? Im hoping it's just a glitch and the episodes will be available right when they come out

  • That in itself makes no sense because so far everywhere I look....the ONLY option you have is to buy them all at once...meaning the season pass. So really odd they ask you that after the episode when you have no choice but to buy all of them anyways....you can only play the game if you have the season pass. Must have been some last minute moronic decision some big wig made and they never bothered to remove the screen asking you t obuy it. Seriously, this was a bad decision....if true which it seems like it is.

Now I have a decision to make....I need to buy Fallout 4 season pass before the price increase. I was planning on getting this today off my gift card. The needless requirement to pay for it all at once though now complicates that. Wasn't thinking I would need to spend another 40$ this month to cover it all.

  • It wasn't even announced, it was sort of dropped on us. Is there no word of Ep1 being purchased separately yet?

  • Apparently there is NO option to do this.

This is not only ridiculous it makes no sense. The people new to this....are now much more inclined NOT to purchase this. Then people like me who play all Telltalles stuff....are simply annoyed and put off by it.

    They need to change this....now.

It almost seemed like a mistake or something at first....why call it a season pass if you have no other option but to purchase it?

The irony is back in late 2012 this concept didn't interest me that much. It was once Walking Dead S1 EP1 was free....and the remaining 4 episodes lowered to $1.50 each on a sale....that I then decided to try and love the game. I have since bought.....

Walking Dead season 1 including the 400 days for 360
Walking Dead season 2 for 360
Walking Dead season 2 for One
Tales from the Borderlands for One
    Game of Thrones for One
The Wolf Among us for 360.....keeping my eyes out for a deal to buy it for the One.

Point being....I bought all of that because of a DEAL. I absolutely would've never bought all of that had my only option been an unreasonable forced non option to buy ALL of the episodes at once. You might as well release it as an entire game one episode if thats how you wanna play it.

  • I'm on the PS4 and was only given one purchase option for the game at $15, which I assumed was for all three episodes and I happily spent. My issue now is that I played the first episode and the game is prompting me to buy the season pass... which I already bought. I mean, surely it's not $15 per episode XD

Not concerned as it's clearly an error, will probably be cleared up by the time episode 2 comes around for download.

  • I was a little bummed there's no option buy the first episode and then get a discount by purchasing the season pass this time around since it's a 3 episode game instead of 5, but I'll throw Telltale a bone on this one. They did take a hell of a long time with their releases last year, but in the end, I was certainly more than entertained, and I'm a huge fan of the TWD games, so I figured I'll take a chance and settle for buying the whole thing upfront this time.

  • Right, the fact its a mini series and only 15 makes this....DOABLE....just extremely annoying. Us being big fans this isn't as much of an issue....but for new players....I dont see why anyone would be inclinded to jump in now with a higher price tag than before. Its going to hurt them

Had it been a full season wanting 20...I probably would have just waited....I am cutting it close this month.

  • IKR telltale messed up on this one :(

  • This is how its on Steam, so its no big deal... plus its guaranteed to come out. So its not like you're going to be scammed.

  • I forgot it could affect new players, that sucks. I don't have much money to spare for games atm so I saved £5 for Michonne as its pretty cheap and I've been hyped for it, yet we weren't told before or on the day that the business model has changed to bundles. Ep1 is apparently available on Android but Idk if its true. I feel like we should've been told about this at least, if they change it :| I'll need to avoid the forums till I can afford the bundle now

  • I was really annoyed when I found out. I had some left over money and decided to get the first EP but then I find this bundle bull.

  • I just found out too that on the App Store, it's just $4.99 BS

  • That 4.99$ is definitley a single Episode, though. Telltale games cost the same across all platforms. So it is available as single Episodes on the App Store, but you'll still pay 14.99$ in the end.

  • Im assuming its like this because its a mini series...its still idiotic...and in no way going to benefit telltallte. But if they were actually boneheaded enough to do this from now on out. Its pretty much going to force me to distance myself. I buy all their stuff day 1 or 2...if I gotta buy ALL episodes from now on out at once....I wont be doing that anymore obviously.

  • You will only be paying $15. No idea what Telltale was thinking when they though "3 episodes were very cheap and everyone would buy all of them at once."

  • Well yeah it eliminates the convenience to a person who was going to spend that money EITHER way.

As well as entirely puts off new comers to the series. Who is gonna pass up 3 years worth of free episodes and deals left and right. Then decide to jump in at a 15 dollar price point? SURE someone will do just that...but still....its a dumb move. Especially since you don't even save any money by doing it.

  • Yeah but sometimes I buy Telltales first episode separately to see if I like it like for Minecraft, then if I do, then I get the season pass for it

  • I think they should have an option to buy each Episode individually.

  • I got home today and went onto psn on the ps4 to download episode 1 and found that I was instead required to buy the season pass for 15 dollars. This is one of the worst decisions that Telltale has ever made from a business standpoint. It just shows that they are hungry for money faster. With this happening I won't be able to buy episodes as soon as possible since your forced to do this now.

  • I kinda find it weird everyone here is freaking out about having to buy all the eps, I don't really see the point. Its like this on Steam, and I mean... aren't you going to buy them all anyway?

  • edited February 2016

Yes but it's a lot easier to buy them one by one for some people. People may find it hard to have all the money to spend all in one shot at a time for a full season/series. I was very frustrated because I've been buying episodes From Telltale one by one as they released ever since The First Season of The Walking Dead and this change was just way too drastic and uncalled for imo
