A really minor thing I enjoyed..

Was the fact that a member of the bad guy's hunting group (the group that finds Michonne in the boat), Zachary, actually ended up being developed a bit. Normally characters introduced in that kind of role are basically throwaways, or 2 dimensional like Troy. The fact that Zachary's introduction isn't particularly notable, and then he becomes developed, came across well to me.

I know this is super minor, but did you guys feel the same? And what other little things did you enjoy?

  • Hes quite like Bonnie in season 2

  • Upon rewatching my playthrough I realized a few things... Randall really actually holds back if yo u pick the aggressive options. He doesn't hurt you if you spit in his face, and he doesn't take things too far if you ambush him... he only subdues Sam and Michonne. Similarly, Norma tries to be polite and civil before resorting to brutality.

It's a really interesting dynamic. It's mu ch more difficult to rebel against a society that seems mostly civilized as opposed to a place like St. John's Dairy where it's completely evil as fuck.

On one hand we are led to believe that these people carried out the Mobjack massacre. On the other, they act somewhat humane and seem unaware of the massacre. Even more nuanced is the fact that Randall could have carried out the massacre on his own without Norma ever knowing. It's nice to have villains that are morally grey, more similar to us or any other survivor group we might encounter. It makes decisions harder because we truly have to decide the value of our lives and our friends lives over those that are somewhat similar to us.

Zachary's role in the story did feel genuine and he helps fill out the back story of the boat community we're around. He definitely had an active role that progressively got better from a generic henchman intro.

A little thing I enjoyed about the episode was the character design. We got a diverse cast, no doubt. But characters like Norma, with this light shade of darkness around her eyes knowing she might be trouble crossing her. And Randall with his default pissed off look. It's not just random characters created, but carefully crafted models to fit the story and tell it better.
