What's your favorite season from the show and why?

I have to say season 3, because it always had you on the edge of your seat when there was a war against the Governor. And that was the first time there was a happy ending of a season in TWD...and wasn't a cliffhanger ending...

I would have to say that season 1 was my favorite and it seemed to go downhill after that. I just loved the settings and the pacing, it really had this distinct feeling about it that drew me into the universe of TWD. I really wish they didn't can that writer

  • Season 4 or Season 6 I can't decide.

    Season 5. For now!
And I think the reason I like it, is because it shows Rick going over to the dark side.

  • I cant fathom this idea that the show has gone downhill since season one. Five seasons compared to six episodes.

  • Every season gets better for me. The show is always doing something new that renews my interest and love for the show.

    1. Season 5
    2. Season 1
    3. Season 6
    4. Season 4
    5. Season 3
    6. Season 2
  • season 1 & 5. 6 also but still 2 more episodes

  • Season 1, I miss the OG characters.

    1. Season 3
    2. Season 4
    3. Season 6
    4. Season 5
    5. Season 2
    6. Season 1
  • Season 4. Still remains the season with the most well-told overall story, and a great mix of action and character development that was sorely needed at that point. A definite degree of foresight and planning not often seen on TWD, from character interactions to dialogue to intriguing little symbolic connections that hint towards the future and help enhance events in the past upon rewatching. And a well-utilized theme of change ("Coming back" from what you've done) that ran throughout the whole season and tied everything together. Lizzie flipping the theme on its head with her own perverse vision of change and "coming back" was a particularly subtle and clever bit of writing. Even the leftover Governor story from season 3 was treated as a smaller part of a grander story, rather than going the obvious route and just making the first half a Season 3 redux.

Everything falls into place so well... except "Still". God, I hate "Still". But hey, as far as lone episodes that cast a bad light on the rest of their respective seasons go, at least it's not as painfully stupid as Season 1's CDC episode, or "Coda" in Season 5.

  • Season 6, it gave birth to Richonne.

Shipping aside, season 4. Back in the old days where Carl got more screentime... rip

  • Like me :)

    S1.

It just felt like a really long horror movie where not every speech was convoluted "this is how things are now" bullshit. There were enough callbacks to the comics, but at the same time S1 had new and unique plot points (Dixon brothers, Vatos group, CDC). I don't think it's nostalgia, S1 had a different feeling that the future seasons failed to portray.

    Season 6B

    Season 4

    Season 1

    Season 5

    Season 6A

    Season 2

    Season 3

    1. Season 5 (Has the best 3 start episodes I remember and they finally arrive to Alexandria, a location I was really wanting to see in the show. Worst thing about S5 was the Hospital arc.)
    2. Season 4 (The adaptation of "The Calm Before" and "Made to Suffer" volumes were brutal, "The Grove" is an amazing episode, too. Worst thing about S4 was "Still".)
    3. Season 3 (I absolutely adored "Killer Within" and I loved the Prison arc. Worst thing about S3 was 3B. It was kind of a letdown besides "This Sorrowful Life".)
    4. Season 6 (It's nice but I'm not entirely feeling it.)
    5. Season 1 (An awesome start, but it was just the beginning of the greatness to come.)
    6. Season 2 (Slowest, but had good episodes.)

While I'm liking Season 6, I'm not entirely "feeling" it, and I can't put my finger on why is that. I think the show has been getting better and better since Season 3. My favorite episode of the series overall is "Too Far Gone", I absolutely "lived" that one. It was perfect.

  • Well first off it is my opinion, second of all it was mainly due to pacing. Season 1 felt like a truly desolate world whilst season 2 and onward just feels like a soap opera with occasional violence.

  • Also haven't you heard about quality over quantity? I'd much rather have 6 episodes of quality writing and production than 6+ seasons of mediocrity.

  • Season 6 or 4. I have a feeling Season 6 will overcome 4 with the finale. Season 6 has been following the comics well, and that's good, but Season 4 with relatively show only stuff did very well.

    My personal ranking:
    1. Season 6 or 4
    2. Season 6 or 4
    3. Season 5
    4. Season 1
    5. Season 3
    6. Season 2

Season 2 was my fav. It didn't have tons of action but that's why i liked it. We got see a lot of decent character development especially with Rick and Shane and the season finale was my fav by far. So in order:

    Season 2
    Season 1
    Season 3
    Season 4
    Season 5
    Season 6

Right now i feel there are still too many characters and each ones aren't getting enough screentime or development. Still love the series but after Season 2 it's strayed off a bit in my opinion

Wow, that's a minority opinion. People couldn't stop whining about how slow Season 2 was and how people wanted them to get off the farm.

  • Okay, I'm officially declaring this season as my favorite, eventhough its not over yet. I finally got something I wanted, some happiness amid all this chaos. I seriously think show gets better every season.

  • I didnt like the first season that much, it just wasnt walking dead. It had smart zombies, talked about a cure and all sorts.

Not to mention the care home stuff was some of the dumbest shit ever

Also haven't you heard about quality over quantity? I'd much rather have 6 episodes of quality writing and production than 6+ seasons of mediocrity.

  • Of course its your opinion. Did I say otherwise? I just dont understand your point of view. How season one felt more desolate than the five seasons of "occasional violence" that followed it. I loved season one but it was a just a prelude. They have expanded the world considerably since then. This show is no more a soap opera than any other drama, no more than the comics themselves which had considerably more exposition, more relationship drama, more bed hopping than six years of the show. As for pacing, the first season was kind of all over the place. I didnt mind that because it felt like they were trying things out, getting the feel of the show, but it wasnt the best it could be.

  • The first half was a bit of a drag

  • I enjoyed it. A slower pace never bothered me.

  • I would honestly say that every series has that AMAZING episode and the occasional meh episode. So far Season 6 has been my favourite. I can only see it getting better as we go on. I know that Season 2 was my least favourite, but I still loved it despite me saying it's my least fav.

See, The Walking Dead is like a Fine Wine. Keeps getting better with age.

  • off the far.

  • 1- Season One
    2- Season Two
    3- Season Six
    4- Season Five
    5- Season Four
    6- Season 3
Season 3 was shit, who read the comic know about this. They just destroyed everything in this Season.

  • Season 1 or Season 5.

Like @Zeruis said, Season 1 just has this feeling about it. Everything feels so visceral and real, and constantly keeps you on the edge of your seat. Days Gone Bye is also my second favorite episode!

But also, just to say, I really enjoy Season 2! I'm re-watching the series again, and 18 Miles Out is a great episode. I'm glad they kept Shane around as long as they did, because his character got so much more interesting.

  • I corrected it. Im always typing on my mini IPad so...

    5. Season 6B

    6. Season 3

    7. Season 2

The only thing I really hate about the new Seasons is these cringey speeches they now give every few Episodes. I actually laughed a little when Denise got cut off in her horrible cringe speech because that is what I secretley wish to happen to every character who starts another one of these (it's still horrible what happened to Denise, but I couldn't help but feel good that I didn't have to listen to any more of her bullshit)

  • Yeah i really liked season 2, it's a shame so many criticised it. Did you like it KCohere?
