Why do YOU like The Walking Dead?

edited April 2016 in The Walking Dead

I been meaning to do this thread for a while because it really interests me. The franchise has grown from a $3.00 comic book into a multimillon dollar franchise, equal to Game of Thrones and to some even Starwars.

However i have noticed that this fan community is full of diverse opinions. There's just something that attracks us to the series. We like it for what it was, what it is, what it could be or even all at once. It could even be for a particular character or message you enjoy. The pupose of this thread is to share these different visions. And just to beclear this is covering every section of the fanchise: the tv series, the games, the comic, the spin off and even those Woodbury novels.

So tell me,what do you like about the Walking Dead?

  • Clementine and her story.

  • Good story telling. I initially bought S1 because of good reviews and it being similar to Heavy Rain at that point I would say I wasn't a Walking Dead fan. Played the game and loved it. Loved the story, the choice based gameplay and the characters. I liked it so much I thought I should check out the shows FearTWD and TWD. Turns out those are very enjoyable too. Then I played S2 and it was even better than S1 and formed the greatest character in video game history, Clementine.

  • The gore, post-apocalyptic vision of America, relationships between characters and the easy possibility of death but it's different from GoT since you can become a zombie. That last part, seeing people turn into zombies, is the most important part for me

The story and the characters. And it's a zombie apocalypse. And the illusion of free choice.

    'nuff said (Stan Lee voice)

  • The story.

I got into it because for me it was really cool. How other characters actually interacted diffrently with you, because what you say or how your actions affect them in season 1.

I never played a game before that made characters hate you, or be friends with you, and it was real fun to explore this way of gaming.

  • Multiple people saying they like TWD because of Clementine. This pleases me.

Because it confronts us with a scenario that goes beyond our imagination. What IF this would actually happen. Who would you be? What would you do? Would you run off immediately to try and save your family members or realize that you put more value on your own life and look for ways to survive? Right and wrongs, things taught in school, by religion, by any other scripture, they suddenly gain doubt, a lesser priority. The Walking Dead Series (in all) has been able to depict those inner struggles quite vividly and has us as human beings - with all our variation - not having to endure or fully take on the character's perspective which provided an ultimate basis for discussing these morals, ethics, choices and nihilistic grounds.

But, of course when it comes down to it; we're just curious to find out who will die next and how. In game also whether or not we are responsible for a character's death and maybe even take some pride in it if we are. So yes basically TWD hands you the freedom to break the rules set upon you. Here, have two cents. ;)

  • Thank you.

  • Do you mean the way the killing is done? Or are you just up for badass moments?

  • Simply put, I like the characters and the story. I also like how the show gets creative and tries to mix things up and at times, theyve some stunningly beautiful shots. I like th editing and music choices. I still find the show engaging six seasons in when people were expecting it to not last more than one season. I just love watching it.

  • Well written characters, their relations, drama, very interesting story.

I'm talking about season 1 of course. Rest is a waste of time.

  • Season 1 of the game right? Just to be clear.

  • All forms of the walking dead, tv show and game (ive not read the comics but am sure it's still good) i like walking dead because of the characters journeys. The driven story and how we connect with these characters. I have always liked the feeling of caring for the characters and the emotional moments when one dies or a happy/hopeful moment gives me a high and it's why it is and probably always be my favourite game/tv series. Currently in the series though i feel as though there are far too many characters because i just cannot care for them the way i do for the originals like Rick, Glenn, Carol etc. and this is basically because these new characters are not getting enough screen time or the way season 6 has been written isn't as good as it was a few seasons back in my opinion

  • No really, I like it because of the style of the show.

Yeah its awesome how much effort is put into it. Walking Dead is one of the few shows on tv where everyone see's it as a passion project.

  • Because it takes the tired zombie genre and gives it an interesting twist by adding compelling storylines, character development, and themes.

  • The Walking Dead created a profound impact on all of us...What's not to like?

  • Its a fantastic series. Shame that the cliffhanger has left the fanbase so angry at it.
