The Motor-Inn vs BOAT

Which, plan made more sense to you, when you first heard them, to stay at the motor-inn and have to deal with the bandits, and the lack off food.
Or go, gods no where in search for a boat in a half broken RV, on to the road where there are even more possible dangers.

I personally agree 100% with Lilly, at the motor-inn they knew which threats they where facing, and had a place wich was quite well protected.

  • Both are terrible plans.

The motor-in was way to unsafe and hard to defend which is not a good thing when you have a community of psychopaths near you. Aside from that there's also the fact that Macon supplies were getting over.

The boat was another one of Kenny's 'let's hope a miracle happens' plan. The probability of finding a working boat in a ZA is really low and I honestly don't understand how having the sea on your side is an advantage, you can get trapped between a horde and the sea which basically means... 'Do you want to die drowning or being eaten by zombies?'

So... Yeah, both are really suicidal. They should've moved to the countryside just like Christa wanted.

True, the countryside is indeed the best idea, but if you had to pick one of these 2 terrible plans?.
Cause the game, sadly did not give Lee the option to think about that xd.

  • The Motor Inn was the safe option by a slight chance, i.e having an established base, then they work out from there for supplies.

However, the boat plan isn't a totally terrible idea. The only problem was that there was no plan for once they got a boat, or if they didn't

  • The motor inn was a piece of shit and they were best rid of the place. Boat was a decent idea but for some reason Kenny seemed to think that they were all automatically fucked once the boat thing looked like it wasn't going to work out. All they had to do was keep their heads and come up with another plan.

  • It's pretty strange that Kenny didn't still pursue the boat plan after season 1. Plans like those are plans you always keep in mind, like finding food or a car.

didn't even think about that before lol.

  • Not strange at all since the plan blew up in his face. It was pretty obvious finding a working boat wasn't going to happen. Heck, after he was separated from the group he might have even continued to pursue the boat thing for awhile only for it to blow up in his face a second time. If he was still talking about the boat stuff 21 months later he would have sounded like a raving lunatic.

  • The motel made more logical sense because it was a known location and they knew what they were dealing with. The problem was the lack of supplies, which I attribute to the Motel group's general lack of scavenging ability. (3 months later and they STILL haven't completely cleared out the drug store? All together I find it hard to believe a big town like Macon is completely baron, they just don't know where and how to shop. What they really needed was a "Glenn").

Even so, I was more in favor of moving on. To keep the Motel we would have to go to war with a bunch of methed out bandits.... and quite frankly, that desolate hole in the wall really wasn't worth the trouble. The boat thing was stupid though. Either move to the countryside or find another fortifiable building with a nearby scavenging resource (sans the crossbow wielding crack heads)

  • Lunatic, maybe, but not raving.

  • He, is a raving lunatic, only thing in Season 1 he could say is.

  • Both plans had their flaws really, but if I had to choose between the two I'd pick the Motor Inn. I was wanting to leave the Motor Inn eventually but NEVER wanted to go near a boat. Kenny wanted the group to put trust in him on his hunch that they'd be safe on one. It was a huge gamble over a mere hunch.

Then again though, we saw how bad it got at the Inn right when they left with the bandits. So yeah, pick your poison really.

it was more of a move or stay choice, the boat part was like the end game, but really it was a choice of staying in a place that was under constant attack or move on to somewhere potentially better, and with that in mind, a potential chance of no attacks is better than certain attacks ie. leaving the motor inn is the better choice

  • boat crazy? that dude was having a boat fetisjh.

  • None.

Anyone could attack Motor Inn because its defense is pretty much shit, and boat? Even worse because it was basically a death sentence. Where were they even planning to go? Europe? Other part of USA? Probably to another life.

  • It woulda been smarter to turn around and take over herschels farm. Not in a bad guy sense but a survival sense

  • Damn tough call. A sitting, hardly defensible target or a tiny moving target. Pending on if finding a boat. I know they did, but it was lucky.... real lucky. I would go for the Motor Inn. Just build and expand. The st. Johns were dead and pretty much the bandits as well. Could've been something, but yknow plot.

  • How would that go?

Like, they all show up guns in their hands and shout.

"YOU'ALL GET OUT OF THIS HOUSE RIGHT NOW, WE ARE TAKING THIS PLACE OVER. "

But on a sidenote we do this out of a survival sense, we are not trying to be bad guys, so where still cool right Hershel?.

  • Similar to how Rick and the group took over Alexandria. First they scouted the place and its leaders than established themselves as the strongest of the town and took over almost by force

  • Eh many people I've seen thought it was a good stronghold however I beg to differ. The Motor Inn was hardly even protected with only a couple of easily removable items serving as a barricade. Also most people say it was a bad idea just because of a dislike for Kenny. But with that aside it worked well enough for Monroe

  • Katjaa, Doug, Ben and the kids barely knew how guns work, so that leaves us with Lee, Carley, Kenny and Lilly. Do you think those four people would do any good against more than fifteen armed and capable adults inhabitating Hershel's farm?

  • Rick and the group, werent there around that time-line, if im not mistaken.

  • I think both would've been better had they taken extra precaution:

    Motor Inn:

    • They had an established base, rooms for everyone to sleep in, a place to secure their supplies and a gate to keep out intruders, it would be a safe place to stay during the winter and they know Macon pretty well.
    • However, there was no clear leader causing fallout within the group, they weren't observant thus letting one of their group members easily betray them(Ben) with only Lilly noticing, plus the walls were good but were not high enough, as Bandits could quite easily jump over the walls. Plus the position of the base made them quite an easy target as there is a forest right across from them and Macon was quickly running out of resources for them to scavenge, not to mention Lilly's attempt at creating a dictatorship.
    • They were protected and had shelter but their supplies were running low with limited options in terms of restocking them plus there were many arguments within the group at this point.

    Boat:

    • With a Boat, they'd be able to sail into the ocean, likely to be free from walkers and other survivors, they could've found land as Vernon's group did as well and establish a new base elsewhere, they could've also caught some fish along the way.
    • However, I don't recall the group having much supplies apart from medicine and perhaps few rations and water/alcohol, the size of the boat could've also made it an uncomfortable and even difficult journey, they could fish for food but they didn't seem to have the equipment to do so and they didn't take into account requiring extra fuel, not to mention Kenny's attempt at creating a dictatorship.
    • Although a boat would've been useful and might have worked for the group as it did for Vernon and his group, they never really thought it through and Kenny seemed like he thought he had ownership of the boat, so arguing with him might have led to further fallout, arguing in the middle of the ocean probably wouldn't go so well.

Either had positives and negatives but I think it all came down to not being as prepared as they should've.

There are BOATS but Ken had boat. How many people would fit in? Overcrowded, no undersection, no privacy. Where would they store food? Sitting all day, during wind and rain, cold, or fry in the sun. Hours of watching Kenny, listening his complains, mourns. Horror.

  • Wait a second... Rick/group was talking about taking over both the farm(tv) and Alexandria if things didn't go to plan.

Rick and the gang where, invited into Alexandria, Hershel wouldn't invite other people in.

  • The first time I played, it made more sense to go. Kenny made sense during his speech and it was nice that he wanted to include Lee and Clem. Also, Kenny being a commercial fisherman helped, as I would trust him as a captain.

But, after episode 2, I soured on Kenny. A lot. What he did to Larry opened my eyes, a little. So when Clem asked what we should do when we get to Savannah, it really made me think. There I(Lee) was, surrounded by people I really didn't care about. Kenny, Ben(because of what he did. yes I am aware that he was a kid, whom made a dumb mistake. but come on. we took him in, he didn't have anyone. why do that behind our backs? forgave him moved on) and Chuck. So that situational pressure made me want to choose "let's go our own way", but I chose "we should find your parents". As Clementine was myLee's everything at that particular moment. Then episode 4 sealed the boat's fate, imo. After finding the first wrecked boat, I gave up on that pipe dream. All I could think about was finding a safer place for Clem. Even after Clem found the good one we weren't going to be boarding it.

  • the size of the boat could've also made it an uncomfortable and even difficult journey
