What were your thoughts on the michonne series as a whole?

What were the good and bad points of the series? Which things should they take into season 3? Which things should they definitely not?

Characters

I thought pretty much everyone in Michonne felt and acted like a real person. Even Randall was more believable than a lot of the villains previously. I also loved the moral greyness that they at least tried to achieve in the series. The negatives of the michonne characters was that most to none of them had any payoff, which was a bit disappointing.

Protagonist

Michonne was a cool and badass character to play. They did a good job of making her have a personality while leaving her true feelings up to the player. On the other hand while I appreciate them trying to give her her own plotline, the daughters thing was just overdone for me. I'd have been fine with her just feeling guilty about her kids to improve her character

Choice

Choice was okay in michonne. The pete choice in episode 2 is one of the best i've seen and I did enjoy all the variations of the trade choice and the several determinant characters. However most choices did nothing at all which was a bit of a shame. Secondly when they did matter the game often felt a bit weird at times, the trade can be quite awkward if you pick certain routes and while their were some effects it kind of sucked that it all comes down to one action in an episode (nothing else matters before or after), the game tends to awkwardly find ways to correct the player if they pick a choice they dont really want to tell, I think zombie randall was pretty lame and didnt give the true effect of having killed him. Also Randall, Zac and Sam are perfect examples of how not to do determinant characters, Zac was killed for really no reason, especially as him helping is just replaced by a zombie, I dont see a point in killing characters in such a pointless way. The same can be said of sam, who dies like bonnie and nick in season 2 for a choice barely anyone would make, I dont mind so much as we are unlikely to see these characters again but it seems like a waste. randall was just wasted after his death which is a shame.

Environments

I thought the environments and models looked really cool in michonne. On the other hand they need to upgrade their engine, its getting to the point where its annoying to play

Opening song

Yeah this is cool and they should have one in season 3. I particularly liked episode 3 where the music started at a tension built scene

Length

I didnt enjoy the length of the michonne episodes. Each one felt it was lacking some scenes

Comments

  • I enjoyed it as a whole. Yeah the length was really disappointing, all the episodes were about an hour - an hour and 20 minutes, but it was only a miniseries, so it's not that big of a deal for me. Characters were good, the choices were great, and Norma and Randall were pretty good villains, like you said, they were a lot more believable. If I had to grade it, I'd give the series an 8.5/10.

  • The length was poor.

I get that it was a miniseries, but even if a series is toned down to 3 episodes, these episodes can offer a bit more content.

The worst part was that I was playing Tales from the Borderlands parallel to this, where every episode felt so long and full of fun content,
that I felt pretty disappointed when going back to the Walking Dead: Michonne.

The choice of music was good though, the characters were all believable, even the villains.

And seeing how I was very satisfied with Season 2, I have no worries about TTG making a great Season 3. :)

  • I enjoyed it a lot. The length was what I hated the most in the series and that the episodes were short but being just a mini-series is understandable. Characters were fine, choices were enjoyable (My favourite one is letting walkers deal with Norma). I really liked Norma and Randall as villains, I liked them more than Carver and Stranger. And the ending of this series was awesome, I enjoyed it more than the endings of Season 1 and Season 2 TBH.

  • No discussion on the graphical improvement?

  • I enjoyed it alot but it was too damn short....

  • Short for obvious reasons (mini series) but I feel like I got more invested simply because it's Michonne.

Comic Michonne - The badass I know and love. Was cool being able to make her decisions.

Good intros - Set the tension, Implement into Season 3 episodes

Characters - Good villains, I liked seeing more kids as it's interesting to see how they react growing up in the world this is now.

Decisions - Some of the more harder decisions i've had to do.

This series has given me alot to look forward to in Season 3. And I like that they've tied to the comic in a good way!
