A question about the save-lot bandits.
Ok,so I played S1 like three times already in 2-years time and one thing always confuses me.
Why do all the bandits cover up their faces ?
I mean its not like there, are police riding around that can arrest them.
I know, this might be abit off, a stupid question to make a topic about.
But I seriously always wonder what there reasons would be to cover up their faces, with sun-glasses, ski-masks, caps and bandanas.
So if, you have a good reasons for why they would be doing this, post it haha
Because I cannot think of any good reasons, why they would be doing this.

Probably to hide their identity from the people they are attacking.
But they are with so many, I dont think they would have any reason.
To hide their identity from, people they are attacking.
And when we see, the scene in which they where talking to eachother, before the group whent to the saint johns.
The bandits where, covering there faces aswell.
Even with a big group there is always a chance someone might recognize them later, maybe it is being overly cautious, but there is no room for mistakes if you are going to raid people's camps. They just always wear masks in case they run into someone randomly.
Since there is no chance someone will recognize them with a mask (or at least very little chance) they can later be unmasked and pretend to be friendly to get supplies, maybe lure someone into trap or to simply get away unharmed if they run into each other again.
I think, if they where a mask in those situations.
Other survivors would, get supicious about them, the moment they see them.
I think, as far as practical reasons for this instead of story-wise reasons, it takes less effort to animate all of thier facial animations if they are behind masks. Being relatively minor characters, I don't think Telltale really needed to spend the time crafting each individual face and worry about animating them.
Then there is just our social perception of bandits. That could have either been an intention on Telltale's part to make the bandits easier to read for the player. If they looked like regular people without masks on, we would have to process all of their characteristics to try to understand their intentions. For example, when we meet Vernon's group, they're all regular-looking people without masks but also threaten us at gunpoint. Granted they didn't know they were going to be seen so they couldn't prepare masks even if they wanted to, but without masks we got to see the nuances in their facial animation to find feelings such as fear, and this made it more of a challenge for the player to determine what to do because it was a moral decision for Lee's development. But the bandits were only necessary to move the plot forwards, therefore Telltale needed the bandits to read as bandits with no confusions as to what their intentions were, to make decisions quicker and the story moving faster.
That's true. You still couldn't be 100% sure they were the ones that attacked you, so I imagine most people wouldn't automatically kill them. They could pretend to be wearing the masks because they don't want to be attacked by bandits like as a disguise or something.
Maybe they just think they look cool
I mean, it's not like there's anyone to criticize their fashion choices anymore
And if there are, they can just shoot them in the face
I never thought, about it in a way like that good point
Covering their faces gives that impression of being unpredictable.
Don't forget also that they made deals with people I,e Ben. If Ben was to make a deal with a bandit who's identity is easily noticeable, that could be bad for their group. Keeping their identity a secret makes them be able to get around without being noticed.
It was getting cold, maybe some fellas wanted their face to stay nice and warm. Some people can handle it, others can't.
Probably force of habit.
Maybe to make sure their lungs don't cough up after snorting a crapton of coke.
P.S. This is a joke.
