Javier Over Michonne
I'm not going to lie, though I'm one of the few people who seemed to enjoy the Michonne Mini-Series, I kinda would have preferred a Javier miniseries. You could still keep in the hallucinations as long as, one way or another, they overcome it so it doesn't necessarily have to play a role in Season 3, and nor do you have to show the new engine yet. If anything, it'd be better if you didn't so we could see how much better he would look in the newly updated engine we see in the Season 3 teaser.
I just feel like it'd be better at establishing his character through a miniseries and that you could have ended it with him being captured and meeting Clementine, or just generally some indication that the two would meet. It'd also get us to be familiar with what he's like as a protagonist, his personality, his past, etc. And it'd be a nice surprise for the teaser to show Javier and Clementine side by side.
What do you guys think? Would a Javier miniseries have been more welcome than a Michonne one?

Well I personally loved the Michonne mini-series but even I think they could've easily told that story almost the exact same way with other characters.
The list goes on.
Anyway, yes a Javier mini-series would've been nice but I don't think it's necessary.
Honestly, Telltale could do a ton of mini-series on characters and I wouldn't mind.
More people would've bought it imo. So many prejudged Michonne because of the TV series or comics, or from not actually watching the TV show or comics so they assumed they wouldn't be able to get into it. Javier being marketed as a prelude to Season 3 in some way, or having a surprise Clementine hint in the ending, would've set the fans on fire in ways Michonne didn't. I like the Michonne series a lot, but your idea makes a lot f sense
I can't tell which of those I'd want more. Telltale should make all of them
While I liked the Michonne mini series, I agree with you. Javier had supposedly gone through just as much as Clementine has. I think a good way to introduce this backstory to us without taking up too much time in the actual third season would have been a mini series. Also it might have warmed us up to Javier and made us more excited to see him as a playable character in the Season 3 teaser, instead of the harsh backlash he had gotten instead (though I'm personally optimistic about him).
