The walking dead season 1-2 had 5 episodes but season only had 3 short ones why?

    As the others above me said, Michonne was a spin off mini series that only had three episodes. Walking Dead Season 3 will be a typical full length Season with around five episodes.

    It's actually going to have more than 5 episodes this season. At least that is what I assume by their quote "season 3 will be considerably larger"
