Remember that Amid the Ruins slide?
I forgot what lead to me checking it out tonight, but I was checking it out and trying to figure out why it changed based on save files' choices, and I figured the silhouette on the right "had to be Natasha" since it seems Arvo might've been conceptualized alongside the cabin group and such instead of slapped together like the Howe's family. But I compared it to Natasha, and their hairs have different bottoms. The only other character who had a similar hairstyle was Carley. Obviously, she's dead by this point, but I tried to see if it matched anyway. The images I found on Google weren't too helpful angle-wise, but I saw one where she's in a screenshot with Kenny and Lilly, and, accounting for hair shapes as well as hair alphas (the files that give them flat stray hair instead of just leaving them solid models), Carley's hair matches the silhouette more than Natasha's.
You could just chalk it up as a placeholder, but considering other people have identified Doug is the silhouette DIRECTLY OPPOSITE IN PLACEMENT to her, I get the feeling that it was deliberate. My guess is that whichever person you saved at the drugstore would ALSO have affected how Amid the Ruins played out. Not that we'lol ever know for sure, but does it seem like it might make sense, or am I just spitballing here?

No I think Amid The Ruins, and Season Two in general, had a much darker theme. I don't think the Doug and Carley placeholder is coincidental. Something involving those two would be brought in.
I think you're right. I see Doug, Carley, Kenny, Lee, and Larry.
Also, let's add to the fact that Kenny touched upon a theme involving Clementine which has been oddly absent, which is that after Sarita's death (if you chopped her arm off), Kenny yells at Clementine saying that just because she's a young girl she can't be excused for accidentally causing others to die. I imagine bringing up Kenny, Larry, Doug, and Carley may bring a part in Lee's choices, and how they affected Clementine - what she learned from them.
Remember before the release of amid the ruins, we tought the episode is gonna be so good but it just turns out to be shitty
The episode was flat out disappointing. After episode 2 and 3(which I believe to be very underrated), you expected the story to get better, but it didn't. Another thing is that the deaths in this episode were badly written. It is the only episode that I can say that I do not like.
Thread: Amid the ruins slide
Did we ever get any answers as to what changed it? I remember when the thing was new and it was different for a couple of people. I also saw Eddie there but he's no where to be seen in the episode. I thought he was going to make a comeback but nothing happened.
I ask for my second of three wishes, @InGen_Nate_Kenny.
Could you merge this thread with the discussion-ish here?
Honestly, no idea. For some reason, I have no idea what goes on in Telltale's writing department but they seem to change things really quickly.
They changed the story of The Wolf Among Us. They changed the story of Season Two. It only seems Minecraft: Story Mode (not that I imagine the story is nearly deep or complex as TWAU/TWD), and Tales from the Borderlands have actually had plots that was stuck to, rather than changed.
What changed with The Wolf Among Us?
Actually, Tales had a subplot that was removed. It had something to do with the Purple Skag, August, Tector and Vallory.
TWD S1 also had Lilly in EP5 but they changed it.
If you notice, the original slide for Episode 3 was showcasing the cop from Episode 2, who seemed to be following Bigby. It hints that the original plot was about Mundies finding out about Fabletown and Bigby being pinned for Snow White's murder, as he investigates the real reason behind things. However, they clearly changed the story. Also, let's not forget the huge gap between Episode 1 and 2 (the same happening at The Walking Dead: Season Two - also rewritten), which is just the oddest coincidence. Almost like they had to rewrite choices, revoice dialogue and make new environments in preparation for rewriting the story.
Back when All That Remains was released, people noticed that there were three different slides. What slide you got, depended on what console you played with. I think after Amid The Ruins (or A House Divided I don't remember) was released, the slide changed to the one with her facing towards the player with the Kenny looking silhouette for most players. I do believe some PC players have the version with her facing towards the left though. I don't know where they were going with this, I don't even think it was intentional now that I see it.
That slide kept me excited for MONTHS. It gave me hope that ep4 would be the best of both seasons, turned out to be the worst
yup so much character plot device
I saw Eddie in my slide for sure.
Now TellTale could have changed stuff for whatever reason or just used his model or something, and that's totally fine. But no matter what anyone says,
THE FUCKER IN THAT HOODIE IS EDDIE.
Oh, and while we're on the subject of Amid The Ruins, hands down the worst episode of the season period. Best slide, though.
Eh, honestly, I didn't like episode 3 much. However, I do agree that Amid The Ruins was the worst episode in S2.
Also PC and consoles got a scene looking different in episode 1
Consoles:
PC:
That isn't technically a platform exclusive thing. It's just an animation that doesn't trigger correctly. The second image is how the scene is supposed to look, while the first image is the bugged version, with Clementine's head in the wrong position. It used to be in the PC version too, but it got fixed at some point. The console versions never had it patched, though.
Wait, it was a bug? I thought it was to make Clementine look kinda imposing and sinister.
Yeah. There's a lot of animations and stuff that don't always work correctly in Telltale's games, and this is just one of many examples. This one just had the side effect of looking even better than what they intended.
Huh.
Nah, on the contrary, Tales seems to have been re written so much that little of the original story, or rather the original sub plots, remained. They even stopped using previews because literally nothing that was shown in them ever happened in the actual episode. Like, not even in a changed form like with TWD and TWAU.
Tales was re written the most, for TWAU it seems like only the detective sub plot was dropped.
I like how dark the bugged version looks
Telltale Office Hell
Oh! I think I know what the Carley and Doug part meant to represent. Maybe we were supposed to have the Arvo-shoots-Clem flashback an episode early. (Sorry if anyone posited this beforehand.)
I still have no clue what the rest of the slide is supposed to represent. But based on a thread that was bumped/necro'd recently, my guess is that Troy was the big bad of the season (and maybe even had the name Carver himself) and possibly showed up from episodes 2 through 4.
Reposting here because I totally didn't accidently post this in the wrong topic... cough
On the left, that is doug and he looks like he has something in his face and it's also on his shirt. Flesh and/or blood?
The second looks like they reused Vince and made his hair longer. There's blood (?) coming out of his mouth, the unedited picture has a weird shadow that looks like blood.
The third is interesting, there seems to be a gun inflicted wound or just some hole in their face.
Same for the next person, but the hole is alot bigger, like something got... dropped on it?
Eddie. Something in his throat. Ouch.
The last one doesn't even look like a model, it looks more like reused concept art?
A friend of mine had the idea that maybe the third and fourth person are Duck and Larry, duck got shot in the head and Larry got crushed by the salt lick. Maybe the second was supposed to be Kenny but they just reused someone elses model for the time being?
It kinda makes sense, considering that these could be all Season 1 characters.
THIS!!!!
I found it strange how in this version, the Vince with the longer hair silhouette is replaced with the short haired Vince one. I always wondered where they were going with this. The slide was such a mystery, too bad it all led to nothing.
Whoa, something strange happened here. Both slides have short-haired Vince!
I think only the PS3 version had the short haired Vince version.
There was a silhouetee of Vince, I thought he was gonna appear.
I really Amid the Ruins was gonna be the episode where the 400 Days DLC plays in but no the writers of TellTale for TWD Season 2 f**ked it up.
To be honest I thought the episode was where 400 Days plays in, I mean with the placeholder being Vince & Eddie I thought it had something to do with that.
and i remember when people used to make episode 4 video predictions and i think their ideas are better than the writer in amid the ruins..
Like...? (not trying to cause any fight, just curiosity)
Gameover Ent

She is literally glaring at an unborn baby inside Rebecca.
It looks like it was originally supposed to be Vince, then was changed to Kenny. If that is Eddie in the hood, then we could assume that the 400 Days characters were originally meant to have a larger role in Season 2. Perhaps the version Telltale scrapped, in which Kenny took Carver's place, had Clementine escaping with Vince and Eddie?? A thought.
We see Doug's corpse by the roadside in Russel's story. There could have been a version of Season 2 where Clem runs into walker Doug, explaining the blood around his mouth.
