The Price for ToMI is quite cheap, if you compare it to other Full Price Products which more then often offer less hours of gameplay. The only downside is that we have to wait for each episode. But that also opens the possibility to speculate about cliffhangers and tell the Developer what we enjoyed and what we didnt enjoyed on the first episode, so he can improve the next.
The only downside is that we have to wait for each episode.
If they weren't released as episodes, we would have to wait till the entire game is finished to even start playing. Considering it that way, I don't think of it as a downside at all. I think, the episodic release gives the downloads its attraction in the first place.
Securom is a massive hassle, but I'd deal with it. Online activation, however, would ridicule the whole point of purchasing an offline version of the game on DVD.
Revert to code wheels, guys - pirates nowadays are far too lazy to duplicate these, like they were in the old days. It's too difficult for them! Also, it would be the ultimate reference to the old games EVER.
Come to think of it, let's settle this here and now and proclaim that Steve Purcell shall create a code wheel for "Tales of Monkey Island", which shall be used as copy protection with the DVD version.
Petition, anyone?
Code wheel would be amazing for a hidden easter egg on the DVD. Like in the star wars DVD where you have to type in a code.

Yeah, well, it´s a very unique style of relasing games. It has is advantages and disadvantages, although i have to admit it´s quite fun to speculate about the ongoing episodes.

Also Curse of Monkey Island has at least two such easter eggs.
- When firing the cannon, type in "lapostal" (which is a Dark Forces cheat code) multiple times. Doesn't seem to work in localized versions, though (just select "English (US)" in ScummVM in that case).
- The other will activate lightsaber sounds during sword fights. I don't remember how to activate it right now.
- And not to forget, the "win" key stroke for each monkey island game.
Hey guys, do you think I'll be getting the season disc as well? I was one of the late preorder bandwagoners that finally bought the thing on the release day (still a preorder). Should it say something about the physical copy option in the order confirmation email because it doesn't? "A Limited-Edition Slipcase" sure, but no talk about a season DVD.
edit: Nevermind, I figured I should have it since it says "Season Purchase includes a Collector's DVD" on the store page. So how much would the shipping be to say, Europe? Experiences anyone?
After the season is over... you will have the option to get the DVD/slipcase.
It will be free if you already purchased the season... You would only play for shipping, all you need to do is give them your order number. (their order tracker would determine if you ordered early enough to get the slipcase or not)
