Wii Release Date - Launch of the Screaming Narwhal - July 27!

edited July 2009 in Tales of Monkey Island
This is now the only thread to be made concerning the Wii release of episode one.

Info: According to Nintedo Life's interview with Telltale's Mike Stemmle, the Wii version of ToMI should be out any day now.

"We’re just hammering out a few of the kinks with the Wii version. It should be out any day now."

Also, "on the Wii players will be able to directly control Guybrush via the nunchuk, or, if they don’t have a nunchuk, the D-Pad."

Release Date: Unknown

Please Note: IT is very, very unlikely for any Telltale Game to make it to DSi Ware. This is quite evident, so please do not discuss this topic.

Please discuss and bring up any confirmations from Telltale or Nintendo. Remember: STAY ON TOPIC and be hopeful that it is getting released very soon!

Other Wiiware release of Tales on PC:

    13th July 2009
    - Ant Nation
    - Bit Boy!!
    - Incoming!

    20th July 2009
    - Battle Poker
    - Final Fantasy CC: Darklord
    - 5 Spots Party

No news yet about ToMI, and given that Wiiware announcement are usually made on the day of release, I am still keeping my fingers crossed for 27th July 2009.

This is now the only thread to be made concerning the Wii release of episode one.

Creating a thread for a topic that people make too many threads about is no way to stop people making threads about it. It just increases the problem because now there is one more pointless thread about the same topic. A better approach would be to post a reply pointing them to the most appropriate thread that is already in existence. I think this one might be the best thread to point to, but feel free to correct me if you know of a better one. This is well organized, and will be constantly updated, unlike all the other threads.
  • edited July 2009
How is it any 'better organised' than any other thread on the same topic?

Since some of these games were released on earlier dates in Spain (i.e. Bit Boy on 3th July, 5 Spots Party on 10th July, FFCC: Darklord on 17 July), I still have a little hope on having ToMI on WiiWare the friday previous to its US release on monday...
Still, it could be the other case, because the other games in these lists haven't been published yed in Spain...
    Hurry up, Nintendo!!!

Just stop creating topics for the Wii version! This is stupid

Hmm... most got deleted due to spam. I am not spamming. I think it is wise. Take for example another thread:

"oh come on release it already"

and compare it to mine. You clearly get much more information out of mine and I do not hate Telltale for something that is clearly not their fault. Plus, this seems to be the first Wii thread not written by a sub-15 year old.

Tetris is classic and eternal. It's the video game of video games.
Strong Bad was on the top 10 of WiiWare for a while but fell quickly after release. Sam and Max is not on WiiWare.

World of Goo is one of the best made games in years and will be in the top ten for a while. If you haven't played it do it today. I think TOMI will do great and will probably be in the WiiWare top 10 for a while, in the end I think that adventure games aren't the most highest rated types of games ever. You can make a lot of money off of them, but I don't see them ever being the all-time top sellers on things like WiiWare and XBLA

Yeah, World of Goo is excellent and easily recommended.

Ive not played Strongbad on Wii (Actually Ive not played any Wiiware games but World of Goo was superb on the PC and have read its the best rated game on Wiiware to date.)

I just think Tales is so perfect for the Wii that it should take the number one spot.

Hey guys, Launch of the Screaming Narwhal will be coming to WiiWare (in North America) on Monday! Blog post.
  • edited July 2009
Yeeeeesssss!!!!! Corresponds perfectly with 2 things!

    1. Payday
    2. My better half being away on business so I can play it completely alone and in perfect peace!

    You beauty! :)
  • edited July 2009
Is it too risky to hope that it will be coming in Spain next Tuesday 31?
  • edited July 2009
The price is 1000 Wii points, which is $10. Will each episode cost that much? So the entire season will end up costing 5000 Wii points or $50. Or, will the next episodes be cheaper? I have not bought any of TTG on WiiWare, so please excuse my ignorance. Thanks.
  • edited July 2009
MJedi, most likely each episode will cost $10--that's the way it was with the last series Telltale brought to Wiiware, Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People. I'm sure if Nintendo had the option to sell games as a set of 5 episodic downloads for 3500 points, Telltale would be happy to do that, but that doesn't seem to be possible with the Wii Shop at the moment. So sadly if you want to play the whole season on the Wii, it will cost you $50 altogether instead of $35 for the PC. One of the reasons I bought it on PC, even though I wasn't sure my machine was going to run it well.
  • edited July 2009
    Haha, 1000 points!

I was afraid of that. Well, I already have TOMI on the PC (playing it on my Mac ;) ) but was just wondering about the Wii version. Thanks.

I'm gutted. Just realised it's North America only on Tuesday. I just want to play the fecking game now! :(

Before I start ranting, I KNOW this is not Telltale's fault, it's Nintendo's but I'm so p@£$ed off about the pricing of ToMI on Wiiware. I live in Wales so have to wait a bit longer than the North America release on Monday which is already frustrating but now I find out it'll cost me 1000 Wii points per episode! That's extortionate pricing.

Here in the UK it works out at exactly a penny a point so 1000 points is £10 so the series is going to cost £50 altogether. I've geekily done some currency conversions on Google and can tell you that that's $82 or 58 euros. But if I pre-pay for the series on my PC I can pay the $35 US charge which works out a only £21! Far less than half the Wii price.

I'm gutted frankly... I really want to try this on my big TV, sat on my comfy sofa with my Wii remote. The point n click interface should be a perfect match for the Wii's controls but guess I'm going to do the sensible thing and get it on my puter instead.

    Rant over... feel better now.

I don't think it quite works out at £10 per episode. I've always added Wii point's via Wii shop channel, which cost me £7 for 1000 points. Admittedly that still amounts to £35 when you total up all 5 episodes, which is more than I would usually pay for a game these days. That said there is the exceptional case where if I want a game badly enough I'll be willing to pay full whack, and Monkey Island on the Wii just happens to be one of those occasions.

I'm disappointed that the release seems to trail behind on the PC version. If they both had been released at the same time, I could choose between them. On the other hand, I might get the game for the Wii as well, because of the controller, which seems perfect for this game.
