Why does "Christa remember that" when given an order S1E5C2?
When the mansion is under siege, and you must order people to do things, why would Christa remember such a dumb decision, which doesn't change the game as you are interrupted by zombies on the main door anyway? It just didn't make sense when I told her to look for weapons and it displayed that. Also, the rest of the characters don't remember the same orders.

christa is trying her best
What does it matter?
Who cares?
Those "___ will remember that" popups don't mean crap. Sometimes they happen right before a character dies, which just makes it look even more stupid.
Maybe Iam the only one, but even when they are dying and this messages pops up I dont dislike it. Yeah it sounds strange if they say he/she "will remember that" when they are about to die 2 minutes later, but I see it more like a info that our last words or promises meant something for them. For example Season 1 Episode 1 of Game of Thrones (Spoiler): When Lord Gregor is about to die and we give him the promise to bring that sword back home, instead of trying to convince him to go with you. I felt like Lord Forrester was very proud and that this meant very much for him. And I dont know any other way to tell us something like that other than "XYZ will remember that". Maybe they could just pop up a messages with an information about that instead of this remembering thing, but to be honest I prefer the "will remember that".
For me not every "remember popup" dont has to have consequences or something like that. I see it more like an info for us that we left an impression. In this example with Christa I would guess she saw that Lee has a plan to work things out in this hectic scenario (= beeing a good leader she can rely on). But yeah in this scenario it feels a little strange. They should only use such messages if its more obvious what impression we have left.
This.
I believe that was just the game telling you that Christa will keep in mind what you said, since she cannot predict that a cluster of walkers will break into the house seconds later. It doesn't need to go any further.
I screenshot this comment to remember such a beautiful moment.
I think when it comes to characters that are about to die/near death, they should be worded differently. I mean yeah, I get what they mean, but in hindsight it looks a little bit silly.
For example, "Lord Forrester appreciates your loyalty" instead of "Lord Forrester will remember that"
TWAU did a pretty nice one where, depending on your last words to a dying character, the message was something to the effect of "X will take your words to the grave"
Because your choices don't matter.
The problem is NONE of them have consequences. They're just there to strengthen the illusion of choice, which I get.
I personally wouldn't see any difference if they weren't there, but I understand why they are.
Sometimes I wonder if telltale uses those notifications as bookmarks, indicating a moment that has the potential to be remembered but might be cut later down the line. That way they can cover all of their bases when they decide to pull a decision for a consequence.
There are definitely some that do matter. In twdg season 2, if clem sits with Luke, Kenny will remember that. If clem sits with Kenny, Luke will not remember that. It kinda showed that they had known from the beginning what their fates were going to be and did not try to fool the audience into thinking Luke was going to be around long enough to confront her about it like Kenny did.
But yes, there are the ones that are put there purely to divert our attention. The ones that appear before a character dies makes us think it's possible they'll live, only to surprise us when that's not the case. While these might work on a first playthrough, it does seem silly by the second.
Then there are ones that fall into an "immersion" category like the one in the OP, where it really doesn't make a difference in-game but it makes the player feel like their choices are making an impact on the other characters. I am fine with this is moderation, but used to much and people will catch on and feel, like you said, that they don't mean crap.
Clementine: What is that?
Christa: "…upstairs.
Hahahaha brilliant!
Don't we all remember that important thing Carly will remember halfway through Episode 3, it she held onto that for a long time didn't she...
[Whispers] I hope I didn't overlook any typos.
I think the "remember this" aspect is something they can really use for the new season. They keep having the characters go "they will remember whatever". Though, nothing really comes from it and 99% of the time it isn't even reference back to at all.
Yeah that would probably sound better. Bet then you have the problem that this messages could be spoilers, cause this popups would only sound that way if characters will definetly die, you know what I mean? In this example with Gregor I had hopes that he could survive. And maybe he could have survived his injury, I dont know. But yeah it was much more likely that he would die, but we all hope for the best . Your way it sounds better, but then they should use such formulations at least a few times in scenarios where characters dont die. But I probably think too much about it, ingame you only see that like 3 seconds and have other things to focus on.
don't judge her, she's doing all she can
