My thoughts on TWD: Michonne
I know I'm very late to the discussion, but I haven't been on this thread for a while and I just wanted to get my thoughts out.
I just finished TWD: Michonne and overall I can say it was a short, but fairly enjoyable piece of fiction that had some decent to good writing and an interesting main character. Speaking as someone who has never read the comics and has only heard of Michonne, Telltale did a pretty good job in making Michonne a decently compelling protagonist who I legitimately felt sorry for somewhat by the end and that goes for the great voice acting and good scene direction in the hallucinations/flashbacks. The action scenes were pretty good and the film like bars were a nice touch in making the action scenes more cinematic and I enjoyed the new characters despite how most of them didn't feel too fleshed out.
As far as problems go, I guess the usual complaints are that the three episodes are very short and the side characters aren't quite as developed as they need to be. Honestly though, these complaints didn't really bother me as much considering I pretty much knew this was just meant to be a short little DLC experiment by Telltale with some newcomers much like how the same issues didn't bother me in 400 days. Could the episodes have been longer? Definitely. Could the other new characters have gotten more things to do? Absolutely. But like I said, this story isn't trying to be a grand epic story where you go on this journey and try to develop long lasting relationships with other characters as it's just about Michonne struggling with her inner demons and learning to cope with what she left behind and going on her own inner journey which I felt was handled effectively for the most part and at least when someone important died, the side characters didn't suddenly forget about them and go, "Eh, that sucks, let's move on". As far as choices go, it was pretty standard fare compared to other TT games and it didn't WOW me or disappoint me as I was okay with what the writers were going for.
After I finished, I felt satisfied with the journey I went on and it felt grim but just right much like the ending to S1 and while it might be more concerned with action and experimentation, there's some substance to be had here kind of like 400 days at least in my opinion.

Agreed. I thought it was pretty good despite some opinions on it.
It managed to make me give a shit about her character more, which nothing else in The Walking Dead could really do for me.
