To those who like Arvo...

  • And I had a feeling that someone would misconstrue that statement, but nooo, I *had *to be lazy....

More like Jane managed to do more damage(for good or ill) in seconds then he did in his entire screentime, not to mention piss me off personally; she manages to be the superior villain without actually being a villain. Also, in case you haven't noticed, there isn't exactly a society for either of them to menace, especially ironic in Jane's case considering her introduction.

Plus, he's nowhere near the menace to society he's supposed to be, especially compared to Jane. I disagree with this point. How is Jane a menace to society?

  • I'm pretty sure he wasn't beating up people as a daily job pre-apocalypse but it doesn't surprise me that you would think this of him but it saddens me to be honest. There's always something people find to criticise him about

Yeah, the Kenny thing with Arvo made me really wonder what kind of person he was pre-apocalypse and it doesnt paint a pretty picture.

  • That's understandable.

I don't think we got much of a chance to "like him". We barely got to know him before he was branded the enemy. I did have a lot of sympathy for him and I still believe that the way Kenny was treating him was the worst thing he did in the game.

As for pre-apocalypse, being so quick to anger and violence and bigotry, I cant help but think he was a bit of a bully in his old life. I can see how Katja mitigated that with her calming presence but I sensed darkness in him since season one and his abuse of Arvo just confirmed it.

    Arvo, the hero we deserve.

We have all sinned my brothers and sisters...we have divided our house into Janiacs and Kensplainers. I believe that the good and honest people at TellTalegames knew that our weak and corrupt souls would fall into this anarchy.

So they gave us this Arvo...this Angel of Death to try and take the good and gentle soul of Clementine as punishment for a house divided.

Perhaps he is also a sign of vengeance for when we dropped Ben to his death. We need to come together friends and stop our sinful ways, because we know TellTalegames has more of these punishments just waiting.

Oh I know people will debate it, I just found it personally horrifying. A grown man beating up on a child.

Okay... so if you don't like him for nationalistic reasons, then why do you like him?

  • Ok but i disagree that he may have been like you think pre-apocalypse. Katjaa obviously saw something in him, Duck didn't seem to be afraid of him. I'm pretty sure he only became like this after everything went to shit. Plus he was a fishing captain, who would he have beaten up? A dolphin? Lol.

Sorry i'm not trying to change your opinion but i dunno man, i get what you are saying although I just sadly look at this pre-apocalypse view of yours as just another thing to be negative about him for. It's fine though, sorry for making a big deal out of it. You know how strongly i will defend him

  • Not to start any Kenny arguments but I don't think it's accurate to say that Kenny was a bully, or even violent before the apocalypse either. Back when we meet him on the farm, he doesn't come across as either. I think he might have been a little prejudice but the fact that he had a Belgian wife, Indian girlfriend and was possibly friends with Lee and Clementine tells us that this is hardly a KKK member we are dealing with here.

I think Kenny's rage is brought on by the events of the apocalypse. The fact that Arvo had participated in a plot to have him robbed and murdered is what was bringing his anger out towards Arvo. I was actually pretty surprised that the other group members were so warm to Arvo after the shootout.

    Whatever's biting and paying.

Just to be sure, isn't dolphin fishing illegal? In Florida at least?

  • Im not trying to find things to pick on him for. I dont do that. Im basing my actions strictly on what Ive seen him do. Im just trying to make sense of his behavior. I cant believe that this rage came out of nowhere and was simply triggered by his trauma. That person, maybe buried, had to have been in there somewhere. Weve seen bits and pieces of it even in relatively calm moments since the game started. So, thats just how I interpret the character and I cant reconcile the fact that we are supposed to like Kenny with the fact that he was a grown man beating up on a boy not much older than Duck would have been who was already prisoner. To me, me personally, thats unforgivable behavior.

Hey, I know you will always defend him, thats fine. :) I always defend Rick on the show and I know some people think he's a maniac.

  • Im not saying he is ready to join the Aryan Brotherhood, but he clearly has biases and is not afraid to show them in an ugly way.

Like I said to Dan, the kind of behaviour he exhibited doesnt just come out of nowhere. Im not saying he beat his wife or anything but I can definitely see him picking on people weaker and younger than him in school or getting into drunken fights and things like that on little provocation.

I think the reason the others were warm to him was in response to Kenny's abuse. I dont know how anyone wouldnt be disgusted.
