Why did the bulletin board group settle next to the truck stop?

I apologise if someone already asked this. I'm curious. Has it ever been explained why the survivors ... Russell and Shel in particular ... decide to make their campsite near the truck stop? Wasn't Shel afraid of Roman? I would think they would want to avoid that place in case he found them or Nate did.

    Wyatt told them that Roman isn't looking for them and that they already checked the truck stop and found that there was no one there. As for Nate, I don't recall what happened to him or why Russell joined the group.

    Nothing happened to Nate. He was last seen killing those old people. What he did afterwards is unknown, but he allowed Russell to leave if he wanted, so he wasn't a threat to Russell.

    "Theres no way that guy is still looking for you we've been to that truckstop theres no one left"

    Wyatt always says it if shel leaves the truckstop in the van

    How do you think they all met up? I think Vince or Wyatt must have set up there and the other survivors eventually wandered back to that area.
