Quality of Posting & Posting Etiquette

(Standards we ask for your posts to have in general...)

You guys are obviously allowed to have fun and use gifs, pictures, videos, etc to add flavor and personality to your posts, but we don't want people to have a posting style that primarily relies on posting gifs/memes, inside jokes, references to memes and YouTube channels, sarcastic insults, instigating drama with other forum users, etc.

The community is more engaging to participate in if users focus on having quality discussions instead of focusing more on posting ironic jokes, memes, etc. Jokes/memes/ gifs/etc are fine in normal amounts, but for the most part, please make an effort to first and foremost have genuine and quality discussion.

    • It is preferred that, more often than not, you mostly communicate with your own comments, opinions, and discussions instead of letting jokes/memes/ videos/gifs/ pictures do the talking for you. It is frowned upon when a user's posting history contains more gifs/memes/ videos/etc or ironic comments and jokes than there are actual attempts at quality discussion.

    • This forum is not a middle school. It is expected and strongly preferred that Forum Users are 18 or older before posting. Do not casually use insults or slurs related to sexuality, race, religion, disability, etc. For users in the Walking Dead section to be proud of how mature the series is in comparison to other series like Minecraft: Story Mode, we expect users to follow up on that with a mature posting style.

    • Please refrain from low effort posting. Low effort posting consists of frequently making posts that mostly consist of meme responses, ironic comments, inside jokes (presented in a thread where it would not make sense) or comments that jokingly insult other users in ways that would otherwise be offensive to strangers (ironically pretending to call other users bigoted slurs, saying "kys", etc as a joke). Even if these comments are inside jokes between users, it still pushes the focus of the community towards sharing memes/jokes/etc and away from users having quality discussion.

    • Focus on making threads that lead to active discussion (such as discussing the game's story), and refrain from making General Chat threads for things like Character Appreciation, Character Shipping, etc. In various community threads, off topic discussion is OK in moderation, but for the most part, please make an effort to make your discussions related to the topic.

Negativity on the forums/personal attacks towards Telltale Staff members

A notice from the volunteer Community Moderation Team

During Season 2 of Walking Dead, there were forum trends that led to an overall negative atmosphere. For New Frontier, we would like to try and improve this.

We just want to be upfront - negative criticism is allowed on the forums, should it be expressed constructively. However, do not personally attack Telltale Staff members. Even if you do not see Telltale Staff members posting on the forums, do not personally attack staff members if you do not like how they handled something in an episode you played. Criticism of their work is okay, and you are allowed to have negative opinions - but, express your negative opinions constructively and have logic behind it.

Negative Criticism is allowed and you want to hold things/people you care about to higher standards because you care about them, but keep personal attacks towards Telltale staff out of it. If you have negative criticism, back it up with sound arguments and have a good reason for posting. We don't want a repeat of Season 2, where users perpetuate a constantly negative forum atmosphere. Don't make lazy, pandering posts that whine and bleat on about how awful and tragic it is that Jake Rodkin and Sean Vannaman are not writing Walking Dead games for Telltale anymore. Focus on having constructive discussion and criticism that is grounded on better arguments than personal attacks towards Telltale staff, or complaints about Jake and Sean being gone.
