It's also worth to point out that all of the prices in the treasure hunt are marketing schemes to refuel interest in the older games that TTG have made. The general idea behind this type of marketing is that after a while the demand for a product stagnates, by making the product attractive again (perhaps by making it cheaper for a set number of people) you can refuel the sales and hence make people spend more money on your games.
It's really the same deal as with "buy a season get an episode for free" thing, you buy the season of something you think you will like and then you get an episode of something you might like, if you end up don't liking it telltale have still made a good profit from you, but if you end up liking it the chances are that you will buy the season you tried and maybe the next season as well. Hence creating a larger customer base.
And the final note is, all of these things would have been released sooner or later either way, this way people just get the codes faster then they would normally do.
If they didn't want people "sticking their hand through an open window" then they shouldn't have made the codes active until they wanted us to have access to them. I was actually shocked that the codes work out of the gate.
Hey all! I wanted to let you know that these code are from the Wii version of the game. There's no "open window", etc. We want you to use these codes! We'll be opening up more codes as the season rolls on, with even better stuff associated with each map. But this is not a "hole' in the system. These map codes are completely available in the Wii version of the game.

Great, thanks for the clarification.
As for ripping off Telltale, I will actually be giving them more of my money by using these discounts, which I believe is the point.
Well I actually thought at first that was how you got the rest of the maps and then you played the game to find the treasure. It wasn't until I got one of the discount codes that I realised I'd bypassed that bit. I don't see the problem though, it's not like the treasure hunt is difficult so we'd all get the codes eventually plus everyone's excited and talking and Telltale get a little more cash flow. We're the only people 'losing out' by not using the intended method because we're missing that extra gameplay.
** just noticed Kevin's post. Glad to know Telltale aren't horrified by our shocking use of methodical clicking.
And the free episode got me to buy Wallace and Gromit's full season...or I will at least when the freaking bogeyman comes out. The coupons got me sam and max seasons 1 and 2 for half price, and because of that I will probably buy season 3 as a preorder, same as what I did with monkey island.
Question: I have a single episode of Sam & Max Season 2, and I want to buy the full season. Can I use the episode order code to get the discounted season price and then use the 50% off season code to get 50% off of that, or can you only use one or the other?
As long as there isn't a "Free episode" coupon, people will still be using these to make purchases, and even if there are multiple accounts they're still making sales.
I'm a bit worried one of the listed prizes was "Free Games" because that would be exploitable. They are linked to accounts though, and you have to own monkey island, so maybe that is ok. I dunno.

Dude. They've said multiple times it's okay. It is okay. Telltale is not getting ripped off, and in fact are seeing an influx of cash right now, and will probably see more cash due to people sampling series they would not have normally bought.
There is nothing to be worried about.

Wait, so there are more maps then the 5 out(at least with wiiware) soon to be released, or are you talking about the 2 more needed to come out with the PC version.
I did it too, but that doesn't mean that we should go around bragging about it.

Read Kevin's post.... NEVERMIND....
Dude, i hope you can peacefully chill now, you almost killed everybody in the first few posts lol. It´s all about marketing, but a great way to say Thanks and promote the Telltale Shop at the same time.
Does anyone know when these codes will expire? I was thinking of using the 50% off one when Sam and Max Season 3 comes out.
I intend to use them for this aswell. It doesn´t say anything about expiration, so i guess that this will be possible.
On another post someone from TT advised us to 'act quickly' with the codes, so I wouldn't get your hopes up - I expect they'll disable it before Sam and Max Season 3 is out.
I have a question about the specifics of the "50% off of a season" coupon code. Does it pertain to a DVD version of a season or just a downloadable season? For example: I don't have Sam & Max Season 2 and I am wanting to get the DVD version of the season. Will the 50% off coupon code work with this or do I have to buy the downloadable season?

There is no expiration mentioned. It´s nice from TT to "advise" us something, but rather irrelevant. The only limit is that you can´t use the codes for "Tales Of Monkey Island". So, if a Season 2 will ever be made, you can´t use it for that.

Tried it and the shop says yes.
Although it doesn't make a difference whether you buy the downloadable episodes or the DVD version. You get both anyway, according to the product descriptions.
I guess both exist, just to emphasize that there is a DVD Version for people who wouldn't buy downloadable episodes.
Is Strong bad any good? Is it up to the standard of Sam and Max/Wallace?
I just got Strong Bad with the 50% discount. It's a nice game. The graphics are really lacking in details, but I guess it suits the "feel" of the game and it's something intended, not a limitation of the engine.
The cool thing about Strong Bad is that you have all of theese different side-quests so to speak. You have to
collect pages from game manuals, collect cards, collect items of clothing for Strong Bad, play pranks on different people with the mobile phone,
etc. All of theese are then taken into account for a "rating" which is the coolness factor. You can replay each episode and try to get the highest possible rank and all items collected.
So, in a word: recommended! The humor is also really well done, like when people want to say something and Strong Bad will brutally interrupt them with his own twisted remarks. I don't really like the puzzles too much though, but I've only played the first episode so far.

The game is meant to look just like one of the strong bad emails...
Yea, in that case they've captured the feel of the animations perfectly. I'm still amazed by how well Telltale manages to capture each series' look and feel. Not even giant studios manage to do that most of the time.

I have no idea. They also seem to break the golden rule of videogames all the time:
Well, even Monkey Island 3 did something similar with its "never pay more than 20 (?) bucks for a video game" line.
But anyway, I was skeptical about Strong Bad at first. But after playing the demo, I changed my mind. It's a good game! It's like everything Telltale touches turns to gold. They could make a game about just about anything.

I found it a bit confusing at first, too. Though I figured out, the download version is apparently for someone who wishes to get the DVD later. This makes sense, given you bought and played through various seasons one at a time and order all those DVDs after that at once, you'll saving on shipping costs.

Playing them as they are released would be allright, but after the first 2 I doubt you are missing much.
Speaking for myself I couldn't wait. Messing around with the idol was just too tempting...
Yeah I want to know too.
Even with the 50% discount, i still can't afford a season right now!
lol same.
ha?
there is a third one?
With all these code thing, i get a little lost. By the way, i don't have any third one myself...

The competition will close, but if you hang onto your codes they should still work. I think that's why they said to act fast.

I haven't played it yet. You could try the demo for a first impression.
