My thoughts on twd s2. (spolers twd s1 & s2)

I know many people don't like twd s2 but I personally loved it. People say they don't really liked the story and decisions didn't matter (but let's be serious... decesions didn't matter on any TT game so we can't really hold it against this particular game if this had an amazing first season).

as for the story People think that the aim and potential of the buildup about people trying to survive under Carver's rule was lost as he was killed in ep3 and still the story somehow carried on. and it kept on becoming more and more pointless.
but I think that TT did an amazing job. From the very beginning people were scared of Carver (symbolising evil) and were putting blame on him for everything bad that happened to them . but it was after his death we realise that Carver wasn't a problem and that the problem was within the group itself. The loss of humanity after the apocalypse had taken its toll. Everyone was having their own problems - Luke and Jane (keeping themselves above others when they decided to have sex and forget about their tasks) , Kenny (mentally unstable due to his past losses and recent losses), Sarah (mental disorders), Jane, Mike, Bonnie (only looking out for themselves).
so basically it focused on how humans would always try to blame others for their weakness and that once the blame taker is gone then only will they realise that the problems lie among them. and additionally the justification of removal of Omid/Christa can be given as a move to make us realise the importance of family which further played a role in leading up to that moment -- when there is no one to trust would you stick with family (kenny) even if it somehow meant that what you're doing is wrong(letting a broken man kill a person only because he is close to you) or would you choose a new life (Jane or alone) even if it meant making sacrifices. and this part comes not only after Carver's death even in episode 2/3 we could see that there was always a difference of opinion between Kenny and others.(so it was definitely building up to that point of Family or new life).
to summarise - if All the events that happened in twds2 are seen carefully they wouldn't feel half as useless as they do to people (even the choices like helping Sarah or stealing medicine didn't do much but I am glad such choices were there) and It definitely wasn't as good as the first one but it did have its unique features (like it was fast paced for one) and I think it's definitely underrated and definitely doesn't deserve as much hate as it gets.
Do you agree? or do you think I wrote some Bullshit? let me know :)

  • Yes and no as to the agree part. I didn't dislike season 2. I did feel there was some room for improvement. The developers could have gotten a lot more mileage out of characters like Carver, Troy, and Mike/Ralph simply by tweaking their personalities. I have the impression the script was rewritten several times and consequently made to be more PG. If certain characters had been left as I understand they were originally written, the overall impression would be better. For instance, Carver was presented as someone you could buck or cooperate with but there was no incentive for anyone to possibly want to cooperate. There was no part of his personality that made him sympathetic or reasonable. Troy's character had almost the opposite problem. He was too sympathetic, appearing to care about Jane rather than being an abuser, which painted her actions during the escape in a negative light. The developers canned Mike's background altogether in lieu of creating another casualty of Kenny's crazy train. Kenny could be an example himself of weak writing. He was included presumably to please fans of his character in season 1 but made to be so indigestible it seemed the developers intended Jane to survive all along.
