'Hearts Still Beating' Mid-Season Finale Episode Discussion

  • I managed to find some time to watch a bit of it. By the time I started watching it was at the part of Negan playing pool with Spencer (RIP). When I saw that I totally knew what was up and it was so brutal like the comic. But I liked how they did a twist right after with Rosita, Olivia (RIP) and Eugene, of coursethis dims their chances of the rebellion cuz now Negan will have hand-made bullets... And they're so low on guns/ammo while the Saviors are like the opposite. I'm glad Rick and the team is finally back on fighting the Saviors and the second-last scene was a good way to end the mid-finale! It was a polar contrast from the very beginning where all felt hopeless. I hope the last half is the full All-Out War cuz the first half did seem to drag on like the 'finding Sophia" plot line in S2, and it would be odd to end the season mid-way through the comic arc. Lastly, the post-credits scene is definitely a nice hint to the upcoming chapters in the comic right after Negan killing Spencer. We're gonna get that bit. : 3

  • Best midseason finale since "Too Far Gone". Not without a few issues like Lucille stopping the bullet and the directing of Arat shooting Olivia, but the overall product was very good.

Season 7 thus far for me...

The great: "The Day Will Come When You Won't Be", "The Well", "Hearts Still Beating".

The good: "Go Getters", "Swear", "Sing Me A Song".

    The okay: "Service".

    The crap: "The Cell".

  • Did anyone notice that Maggie is using a cap like Glenn did, and fingerless gloves like Abraham had, and both of them died in the first episode.

  • Yeah, it's a nice subtle touch.

  • Daryl is a murderer.

Daryl didn't believe Joey. Joey wouldn't have really helped Daryl and Daryl knew that.

  • Who do you guys think that person at the end was?

I think it was either the supplies guy, who is probably an entirely new person, or an Oceanside survivor like Cindy.

Some people think it's Heath, Dwight, Simon, or even a Whisperer for some reason. I don't know why?

  • FAt Joey drank the Kool aid and got what he deserved.

  • What was the alternative for him?

  • I think its gotta be some lone wolf nut. He had that boot wired on with some serious wire and he probably hadn't taken them off since day one. Also I wonder how our homies in the hospital and nursing home in Atlanta are holding out. They were still alive when we left them many seasons ago now.

  • I have a feeling it's someone completely new. It seems to be implied that the guy that had all those supplies (Leslie Starton, as stated by the signs) is dead. One of his signs says "the only way you could have made it this far is that I'm dead", and his 'congratulations' note. There was also a single body on the deck of the boat, which was most likely him.

Chances are, the guy eventually got hurt, realized he was going to die, decided to have the last laugh, and left that note for any potential scavengers that made it to his supplies. A final 'fuck you' to the world.

  • The second half of this season will probably be about Rick uniting communities to fight negan. All out war Won't probably happen till season 8. IM CALLIN IT!

  • I suppose. Mysteries like this are one plus I like the show having.

I do hope it's not a Whisperer like some people are suggesting, that's crazy Season 9 stuff.

  • You know, I think I already know what next season's mid-season finale is going to be.

Awesome. Well, awesome and I know the events of that thing, well, they are going to be awesome. One of my favorite comic moments.

I do wonder if the show is going to have to add some new things and filler because there's no way they will have the time skip in the middle of a season.

  • Well i heard rumors about a new group appearing later so I'd guess them

Same alternative Daryl had. All the saviors say they are Negan. So Fat Joey bashed in the heads of Abraham and Glen, then kidnapped Daryl and tried to brainwash him. Besides what do you think would happen to Joey when Negan gets back and finds out Daryl left through the gate Joey was supposed to be guarding?

What was the alternative for him?

  • Is it bad I think Fat Joeys death was the saddest?

  • Hahaha, I just thought of that when I saw him holding the apple.

After 154 times of getting it wrong, Gregory finally gets it right. Also, the director said "Have an apple, it will make you look even more like an asshole."
