Why was Episode 1 and 2 split?

What was the point of splitting the episode into two? Season 1 had SINGLE episodes which were about 2 hours long. Season 3 Ep1 and 2 combined was about 1 hour and 35 minutes long. (Yes, both combined.)

  • Yeah honestly I feel the same way. The two episodes were both pretty short and I feel like episode 2 didn't really progress the story enough to be a stand alone episode. I mean I enjoyed playing both of them and I thought the story was great and interesting compared to season 2, but all I could think about when I finished was, "Its already 2 episodes into a 5 episode series and this is all that's happened?" Idk has me worried for how long this series is gonna last.

You uh...You forgot to add the extra hour, bud.

  • I, personally, am not sure I believe telltale when they say they split episode 1 into 2 because of length, for two reasons.

Firstly, the length of them combined isn't particularly long, and so there would be no need for a split based on that.

Secondly, this would mean that they originally only intended for there to be 4 episodes, which I don't think is likely.

I think this was just a PR claim designed to hype people. Genuinely don't understand it any other way.

  • I'm thinking it might have to do with the number of choices. I think the two episodes had enough important choices that Telltale wanted them to appear. That probably is intertwined with the length.

We'll probably never know besides what Telltale told us, and nothing more. I suppose it ultimately doesn't matter.

  • Because revealing David in Episode 1 would have been clunky. That's the only reason I saw that made sense. No time to rewrite the whole narrative it seems.

  • Took me about that long, give some. I'll admit I didn't click everything in the hubs since I had school but I finished each episode in about 55 minutes. Should of left both as one episode.

  • They probably didn't have enough material for one long episode so they decided to release to short episodes to compensate
