The current state of the forum and my thoughts on the premiere of A New Frontier [SPOILERS]
Now I know the reception from the forums have been incredibly mixed. INCREDIBLY mixed. You love it or you hate it kind of mixed.
It's made me pretty sad to see this part of the forums in such disarray. Uhh, again. But this is probably the worst I've seen so far, to the point of personal attacks between users just because of different opinions. All this shit slinging is just sad. Users calling each other whiners, attacking each other's intelligence, so on and so forth.
How big you people must feel for insulting someone on the internet over different opinions over a video game.
I've been with Telltale since the initial release of Season 1 and have been an avid fan since then, so I too have been waiting the two years since Season 2 for this game. So I understand your frustrations if the game isn't what you wanted it to be and am happy for you if the first two episodes of ANF actually meet or exceed your expectations.
But seriously guys, you people have got to cool it. Also your opinion, regardless of who shares it isn't fact, so if other people go against it don't be a dick about it.
That said I think this is probably the best premiere out of all three seasons so far. I really really enjoyed it.
Great voice acting, great graphics and visuals for the most part, improved animation, and I'm loving Javier right now.
I'm enjoying the the characters (Tripp and Jesus are badasses) and the story so far. Dat plot twist at the end. I'm even enjoying the flashbacks though I think they could have definitely been handled better and were longer. And I even ugly cried when I saw Kenny get devoured by walkers, especially after all that talk of teaching AJ how to fish and swim.
I anxiously await the next episode.
However, I do wish certain things were handled better. Mainly our choices from the previous seasons, Clem's flashbacks and the hub areas which are my biggest gripes about this season far.
If AJ is currently being kept with the New Frontier like I think he is, I think either Kenny or Jane should've been kept captive with AJ too. It would make your choices matter more, knowing that Kenny/Jane are at the end of the road waiting for you.
As for flashbacks, there should have been more. An example like, Clem, Kenny and AJ sitting shooting the shit, which then leads the the flashback where Kenny teaches Clem to drive.
Finally for the hubs. The hub area in Prescott should have been bigger. You should have been able to explore more of the area and interact with more of the locals there so that it would have had a bigger impact on you when the place is eventually overrun. There should have been dialogue trees when talking to characters, why did you only get one bit of dialogue when talking to people? You should have been able to question Tripp about Prescott, talk about the horses, the Christmas lights, or just about Prescott in general.
Minecraft: Storymode had more and bigger hub areas with a lot more interact-able objects.
But as I've said, I am enjoying the game and want more.
Now hopefully this thread doesn't just turn to shit if anyone comments.

I am also looking forward to the upcoming episodes. And I already love playing as Javier. I really don't mind Clementine having a supporting role again. In my opinion, she works best as a NPC character and I am intrigued by what secrets she hides. It really makes her interesting.
Of course, lot of stuff could have been better and done better. But I am greatly enjoying the game so far.
Also one little thing I forgot to add.
Lol if you actually think Telltale paid people off to give good reviews just because you don't like the game. How fucking petty are you?
One of my quotes in life;
"Don't sweat the small stuff."
Pretty relevant at this point in time. Don't mind me, just gonna wait here for Episode 3
People are just angry because we were promised the moon, and we got 4 minutes of Clementine and 50 minutes of Javier talking about his c*ck and Kate about her... bloody underwear.
They'll get over it.
You'll see in a few days a lot of post saying "OMG I'M SORRY I REGRET REFUNDING IT I'M GONNA BUY IT AGAIN TWICE"
While I do agree that Prescot should have had a bigger hub I absolutely loved how massive the junkyard was, and how practically everything was clickable.
Yeah the junkyard got me excited for Prescott. So I was pretty disappointed when there wasn't much to look at
This is what I was hoping for all along. I'm so, so sad it didn't happen, it would've been perfect... God, I feel an emptiness inside just by reading that. Such a wasted chance.
So we're supposed to just basically suck it up butter cup? Fuck no
I've tried not to let my disappointment come off as me expecting everyone else to agree, or engage in any name calling or insult throwing. Seems silly to go around picking fights because people have their own opinions, especially on the internet. The letdown has been real though.
I'm not telling you to suck it up. Where did I say anywhere that you should do that? I'm saying just don't be an asshole.
Yeah I perfectly understand why people are angry and letdown. As I stated above, they should have kept them alive but kidnapped with AJ by the New Frontier.
And yeah it's dumb as hell that people are picking fights over this. Exhibit A right above your comment.
Besides the fates of Jane/Kenny that infuriates me, it's them deep throating Javier and his backstory down our throats. FFS telltale used to be good writers but that whole opening of Javier's life pre-ZA was just nothing but a cheap lifetime cliche generic embarrassment
Holy shit, yes. Fuckin' PREACH, dude. There's this insane concept called "differing opinions" that some people in this world constantly struggle to grasp.
If you don't like it, why ruin someone else's enjoyment of it? I knew there was gonna be division over whether or not people are liked the premiere but I didn't think it'd be this huge or severe.
Yeah I'm not even gonna do this. If I say anymore you're just gonna be continuous triggered into telling me how much you hate this game, and why you think it's a piece of shit and how it somehow ruined your life.
Have a nice day
Yeah it's really fuckin' bad. Waaay worse than I thought it'd be.
In Telltale games, the first 2 episodes are usually about introducing us to the characters and plot. Episode 3 is really when action starts to pick up and things become more interesting. I wouldn't judge this game until all 5 episodes are out.
