S3 is NOT a disappointment!
There may be spoilers ahead. If so, they are minor spoilers
Apart from the unnatural use of Spanish (which, for me, sounded a bit awkward), so far and in my opinion, The Walking Dead: A New Frontier is actually pretty good. And, by "good", I mean "Season 1 good"... I am not disappointed at all.
First of all, the choices are well made. Most of them are not "Choose X or Choose Y and that's it". Instead, the choices are based on problems (for example, killing a character to not betray another you personally love) that actually provoke a doubt on whether the player's decision was the "correct" one. It seems to me that most of TWD's previous decisions did not give such an impact. Obviously, I accept the fact that the choices were Clementine is involved tend to lean more in one direction.
Also, and do not get me wrong, the flashbacks have more hate than they deserve. As in disliking Kenny's/Jane's death in Season 3, I do not understand why Telltale should focus on old characters. Their deaths are the best way of transitioning from Season 2 (or, as I call it, Season Meh) to Season 3. We need a new story with new characters. If not, TWD would end up being repetitive. Clementine is the exception, because I think that she became a symbol of the franchise and it would be awful (market-wise or not) if she is not in the games.
In the meanwhile, this is the only game in which I truly put myself in the protagonist's shoes. In other words, the script is written in a way that I played as the character instead of myself.
So this is my opinion. I hope that other players understand on why I think that The Walking Dead: A New Frontier is a sign of Telltale's improvement. I mean, you cannot say that Season 3 is as bad as Season 2, which received a lot of negative criticism in its day.

I actually also was less disappointed with the Season. I went into it prepared to hate Javier, and at first I did, his younger self at least. But it turned out I like him, and even his family, except the puberty boy.
The reason I am still very disappointed is that I went into the game thinking we get to play Clem at least 30-40% of the time, and that it would be like Tales from the Borderlands. That would have been awesome!
Instead, we get to play Clem like, 2% if at all. She just doesn't feel like the Clem I've known for two seasons, and especially not like the Clem I played and shaped in Season 2. That's why I can only be disappointed, no matter what.
Now if enough people feel like me, and maybe Telltale would give us much more time to play as Clem, while not ignoring Javier, this might become a very good season after all. Though my hopes are rather low, sadly.
