Just can't bring myself to care about Javier...

Why is he the main character? I have way to much time and emotion invested in Clementine to care at all about Javier and his family. I mean he is fine. But all I can do through the whole episode is wonder why I'm not playing as Clementine.

Maybe because you are playing Walking Dead New Frontier instead of playing Walking Dead Season 2.

  • I can't seem to give a single shit about Javier. Every choice where we have to either agree or disagree with Clem, it's easily always Clem's side for me. From Javier's POV, it shouldn't be, but I invested too much time into her, and I grew up with her. We were able to BE her - we KNOW her fully. I don't understand why Telltale wants to appeal to new players so much this time around... Sales down?

Deaths are not right, Clementine is a problem, they don't care about Javier, et cetera...

Telltale should have close this series after season 2. I mean, any continuation would be a "disappointment". Instead studio should publish a calendar with Kenny's pics, for his lovers.

  • Yeah. I don't give a fuck about of anyone of them, too. This series was always about Clementine... I protected her as Lee and I "was" her. I am really disappointed so far.

  • I love Clem, but i also love playing as Javier. It's nice to be in control of a grown man again.

  • I love Javier, he's so pretty, oh sorry, dashing. :P

  • I don't really care much about him either. Not because I'm absolutely fan crazed about Clementine but because there's really nothing special, interesting or unique about him or much of the characters in A New Frontier. Most of them have no back story and can not be interacted with. They tried to force him onto us too quickly and his inexplicable warming up to Clementine after barely a day of knowing her seems something stirred up by uh oh bad writing.

  • Same problem with Javier.

  • I think it's good to have Jaiver as a playable character but with that said i think it is good to have clementine still as a playable character. The problem is that Javier was just shoehorned as the main character VS a slow and natural transition into him becoming a main character.

  • I care about Javier, I think he's a pretty awesome protagonist

  • You aren't alone. TTG messed up. I HATE Javier. I don't care about him or his family. As far as I'm concerned they all could and should have died that first night in his house.

  • He is a better walker killer than Lee and Clementine.

  • Never, the moment Javi can slash through a horde of walker twice, then I'll change my mind.

Shit! I forgot that Lee went like a badass through a herd of walkers without any questions.

EDIT: Let's not forget the fact that Lee ditches a lot of useful weapons.

  • I think it would be better if Javier was introduced earlier in the plot instead. Or have a new playable character be re-introduced, so at least the community knew about them. Now I'm not talking about Lilly or Molly or anything, just a simple character referenced or seen that had enough experience to just know Clementine. Would make their interactions have a lot more sense and not just be out of character.

  • He's growing on me, not to the extent where his amount of screen time compared to Clementines doesn't bother me, but I enjoy their moments together. It's the people I'm supposed to care about because he does that I just don't care for. He's the one who's known those people, so it just kinda falls flat when there's supposed to be all this history between the characters, but the only one I have any history is a stranger to him.

Regardless, I understand the sentiment. And I get that some other people love Javier and having a new story, but I would have preferred TT made a Javier miniseries instead if they wanted to explore other stories. My thing is, I wasn't really waiting 2 years to get a brand new story and main character. I was waiting for season 3, which was announced with a trailer featuring Clementine and someone else at E3 this year and said to include a new playable protagonist in addition to Clementine, with the new guy being as central to the story as previous seasons. Then they dropped season 3 from the title, and said he was the main protagonist of the series, while Clementine would also be playable. Then sales sites were given a description including Clementine being playable in flashback sequences. And now we're here.

There's still 3 episodes to go, and I'm hoping things will improve. The release was disappointing, but episode 1 still some highlights and I very much enjoyed the dynamic Clementine and Javier shared, as well as Tripp.

  • Lets not forget that after Javier took that dude down in the trailer he threw down the gun! He threw down the GUN! Who does that four years into the ZA? lol smh

lol I think that's you and about 90 per cent of TWD fans so you're not alone. I like Clem, but not nearly as much as most people. I'm still pretty loyal to Lee, so it doesn't bother me that Javi is the protagonist. To be honest, I actually quite like Javi. I like him even more when you pick the altruistic options; it makes him unwaveringly loyal to his family.

It seems like Telltale is keeping the trend of making the protagonist different for each game. I'm just glad that you see at least one occurring character.

  • I agree. I quite like him too :)
