Personal Review of Season 3 (Pros and Cons) [ANF EP 1-2 SPOILERS]

So after playing S3, I feel I've been cheated. I'll explain it in quite a bit.

But first, let's go over the positive points.

  • Javier isn't so bad as I've expected, though many players at the start (including me) didn't like him at first.

  • The new graphics engine is better than last game's.

  • The basic story setting is somewhat good (the communities that emerge in that much time in the zombie apocalypse)

  • Interesting new characters (for example Tripp)

All right. Let's go through the negative ones too.

  • Clementine flashbacks. Yeah I won't say much about this, because the forum is full with these.

  • "Choices matter"

  • The game is set as Season 3, instead of a spinoff (will explain more)

  • No choice to talk/ask questions/get to know characters backstories in hub areas

So basically that's all.

About the spinoff stuff, replacing Clementine with Javier as a primary focus of the game is like if they would replace Rick in the show with someone new that we didn't even know in the show/comics/anywhere.

Ofc, I get it that new stories have to be made with different protagonists, but damn, if AMC could make Fear The Walking Dead as a spinoff to The Walking Dead, why didn't TTG just make a spinoff of their The Walking Dead, and name it The Walking Dead A New Frontier?

They could've just skipped Clem from this game (but they didn't because $$$ rofl), focusing on a brand new story with a brand new cast. I don't know if you saw the choices which are pro-con Clementine, 90% of the playerbase goes with Clem.

So basically I wouldn't have any problem with this season if they could've just made this as a spinoff, and create Season 3 in a later date, with a Clem centric story.

Overall if I don't take these very big flaws into consideration, ANF isn't that bad.

I'm interested though, if you guys think that ANF as a spinoff would've been better too (?)

    I like the game as it is, the only con I find is that Clementine should be more focused than she is right now, I wouldn't want it to be an spin-off, why do you think making it spin-off is better? Because you don't play as Clementine? I don't want to play as Clementine but I want her into the game and being a big focus on the game just like good ol' Season 1.
