(SPOILERS) Theories on Tripp and Eleanor! (long)
So far into season 3, I've really been enjoying the Prescott group so far (only 2 members lol) and decided to share some theories about the characters and what might happen. I've pretty much focused on all their dialogue and actions to come up with these. I've also read other people's comments as well and what they think.
- You will have to choose between Tripp and Eleanor at some point.
- This is probably the most obvious theory. Telltale crafted these characters into awesome, almost flawless human beings. If these two characters were to not change than it would be a hard decision to choose between the two. It would make sense for telltale to create two almost perfect human beings and then having to choose between the two in a split decision. I feel this theory is very likely and most likely will happen.
Eleanor was kidnapped by the New Froniter
-When Eleanor went to go find help, she may have been kidnapped by the New Frontier. If she was, I think it will play a big part in episode 3, maybe even a life or death situation. If she was kidnapped, I do think she will get saved but I'm not sure by who. I also think she might of been kidnapped for a specific reason and it will be revealed as her "secret", if she has one. But if I'm being honest, I don't think the secret is going to change anything, it might just be for shock value. This theory is probably likely but it's also very predictable.Tripp might Sacrifice himself for Eleanor
-If for some reason Eleanor is in danger, I have no doubt in my mind that he would probably sacrifice himself to save her. He cares A LOT about her and it would probably kill him to see her die or suffer. If she was in the predicament of being kidnapped and held hostage and they were going to kill her for whatever reason. I think Tripp would take the bullet and would save her. This might happen but it's far fetched as there hasn't been a reason for why she was in danger.Eleanor was/is part of the New Frontier
-This theory is probably the one I've seen the most. I honestly think that she could of been a member of the New Frontier but I don't believe she is a current member. If she was a member it would of had to been years ago because she's been at Prescott probably as long as Tripp has. Also, if she was a past member I'm sure Tripp would know and so far he's still with her so it hasn't affected him. Now, I don't know why people think she is in the New Frontier or is a spy. First, how is she going to contact them? There's no phone, no mail, no email, no technology at all, the only way to reach someone is through physical contact. TNF is known for traveling around and terrorizing people. I don't think Eleanor is going to get on her horse and track TNF down just to tell them something. And I definitely don't think she would go around hurting others. Second, she's a doctor and she's an ACTUAL doctor. She's most likely inside the perimeter almost everyday helping patients, I'm pretty sure she's not outside the gates sending messages. Third, Tripp is way to overprotective to not notice what Eleanor is doing. It was said that he likes her being near him and she most likely is always in his sight. Pretty sure if she was doing something shady he would notice and confront her. Fourth, from what I've seen, TNF raided Prescott for the first time and only time. She probably didn't even know where they were prior to that and they moved into Richmond which she probably also didn't know. Again, don't think she going to ride her way over to where they are just send some messages; that would take way too long and it would suspicious. It's possible that she was a member but it's unlikely that she still is.Eleanor is going to become a traitor
- I've seen this theory a lot as well. TBH I honestly don't know what to think about this one. From what I've seen from her character, she's seems way to caring to turn on her friends, especially Tripp. I honestly don't think someone could be nice for that long and then all of a sudden betray them. I think she doesn't even like the New Frontier much less want to join them. She saw what they did Mariana (determinant) and what they did to her and Tripp's residence, so I would assume she hates their guts. I think episode 1, she seemed a little forward with wanting to help Javier so I admit that is kind of weird, but I think that just might be how they created her character. Once Episode 2 started and she became a little more serious and SAVED KATE'S LIFE, I started to believe that that is who she is - she's a caring doctor and that's it. I even think if a member of the TNF was wounded, she would still help them because that's just who she is. She's smart, she knows what kind of people they are and their nothing like her. It would make no sense for a character like her to join such awful people, unless she put on an act this whole time, but I find that unlikely. But the one thing that makes me believe she won't become a traitor is when Tripp said she has a good heart and I believe him. He knows her better than anyone and I believe she cares about her friends and wouldn't turn bad. BUT one way I possibly think she could become a traitor is if she meets TNF and they manipulate her because it does seem that she trusts people easily. But I don't really believe she would voluntarily turn on her friends. It just does not seem like her. This theory is possible, but i think it's unlikely. SIDE NOTE: I don't think Telltale is going to turn her into an antagonist. From the teaser photos I saw, It looked like their both meant to be protagonists.
Tripp saved her from the New Frontier
- I think this is possible because Tripp said something along the line of "No, I'm not putting you in that kind of danger AGAIN." Obviously, this could mean anything but it's possible that she was in danger with TNF previously. That might be a possible reason for why she was in the TNF in the past, if she was kidnapped by them previously and then Tripp and his group saved her. If anything, I think Tripp would be the one to reveal this to maybe Javier, to show why he's so attached to her. I actually think this is highly possible because of that one line he said. Whatever the "danger" was might be her secret or whatever.
- Eleanor actually went to go find help and brings back comic book characters.
-Telltale or Kirkman (forgot) said that we will see some characters from the comic book in the game. Eleanor might of never even gone to TNF and went somewhere else to find help and she finds one of those comic book characters. It would be really cool if this happened, and they both somehow break in TNF to help everyone. It seems unlikely though.
Finally, I do think it's strange that Clementine doesn't trust Eleanor but trusts Tripp, but I feel this is one of Telltale's tricks to see if you would use Clem's instincts to make the option to go with either Tripp or Eleanor. Personally, I think it's because Clem has never really spoken to her or been associated with her and she's talked to Tripp more. Clem hasn't talked about her since then and if Clem really didn't trust her at all, I'm pretty sure she would be vocal about why and she probably wouldn't of gone with her. I also sort of think Eleanor is hiding something because it seems unlikely that Telltale would make this perfect doctor, but whatever she is hiding, probably won't affect her character or the story (unless it'ts that bad) and most likely would be for shock value and forgivable. But on the hand, one part of me is saying she is this perfect doctor and telltale is trying to trick us into thinking something is wrong with her because we have never seen a character like her. (SIDE NOTE: I also think it's extremely cool and different that this is the first doctor we've seen actually do doctor stuff and save someone so I have a feeling that her being a doctor is going to become important in this season)
