Does the placement of the ***** matter?
Ava has it close to her wrist and Clem has it on her upper arm.
Considering some characters have it in the same place, i.e. on the neck, i'm wondering if there is any significance to the placement of the brand. Maybe it's some sort of ranking system. David has one on his neck (which I find it super strange that he branded himself as the leader by the way. He had some other member do that for him?) The walker's not necessarily a part of the story, I know, but it's just to show that there are differences in the brand's placement across individuals. There a quite a few who have the brand on the neck. Everyone else shown with this brand has it in a unique position.

I don't know if it does. I think it's just different from person to person. From the looks of it, Max seems to be a relatively high-ranking member of the New Frontier, but he just has the brand on the back of one of his hands.
Hmm, that would just make it seem like a personal preference thing. Like, you gotta have the brand to be one of us, but you get to decide where you want it. It's hard enough to believe that anyone does this voluntarily, let alone choosing to have this brand put on your neck of all places.
Don't you think it's very weird that David, who we are all in agreement is the leader, has had someone else brand him on the neck?
I had a theory that maybe the placement of the brand had to do with what job or chore the person was assigned to
Neck = Enforcer (Badger)
Wrist = Recruiter (Ava)
Shoulder = Driver (Rufus)
Best i've got so far...
What would Clem have been then?
Perhaps the placement is just by preference. I tried to see if their's a pattern to it like gender or maybe by job, but got nothing so far.
So, would that mean that they're assigned that chore for life? Doesn't really make sense.
Maybe it is assigned depending on the way you finished the initiation?
Or maybe depending what initiation you choose.
Well, I doubt it's about ranking since in order to signify if you got a higher/lesser rank, you'd need to change the position, which, to me seems like an impossible thing to do. It looks like it's burned onto them, unless if it's some sort of strange tattoo.
