How exactly did David to separate from the group?

They both were going to the hospital, am I supposed to believe Javi just kidnapped his son, daughter and wife for some random reason instead of going to the hospital?

In fact, they were JUST behind them, yeah David probably went faster because his mother was bleeding but they should have met in the hospital.
And if they didn't enter the hospital for X reason like the dead patients inside were zombies, they should return to their houses or something like that, is unbelievable that David won't search for his whole family, and that Javi doesn't want to know what happened to his mother.
Besides the outbreak was just starting, there were phones, they could call each other.

    I assume David got separated somehow from Kate and Javi since they were driving two seperate vehicles. We might get a flashback that continues from when we see Hector getting a bite wound from Rafa.

    During the intro of Episode 1, Hector was trying to contact somebody and he says that he's not getting through. I don't think phones were already working at that point.

    Yeah that's actually a good idea. We need more Javier flashbacks pre-outbreak.

    I'm sure this'll be explained either with a flashback or present day dialogue. Hopefully, David says more than Kenny's "Long story short, I got lucky. Really lucky."
