They WON? Who murdered like half of the Life is Strange fan base what the fuck

They give us shitty S3 flashbacks and we give them votes for steam awards. The shit I do for TT.

  • Fantastic, it deserved to win. Season 1 was amazing.

  • By the way, I've got popcorn!

  • Is it possible to see the percentages ?

  • Sadly not now

Yep. They did win. :) Congrats, Telltale! <3 I enjoyed Life is Strange also, but my vote definitely had to go to The Walking Dead. It's the first game that truly pulled at my heart strings. It deserved this win.

    Edit: Fixed grammar issues.

  • WHOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOO. The Walking Dead for life. Suck it, LIS.

  • Deserved win for TWDS1. To the Moon should be second in this list.

  • WE ACTUALLY WON!

Don't get me wrong, it deserved to win, but how in the hell did TWD get more votes than LiS, a fanbase so rabid that it will chew you out for saying anything negative about the game, no matter how small it is. You know what, I'm not going to question it, I'm just going to revel in this sweet victory. That texasgoldrush guy over on the Steam forums is going to be pissed.

  • Dude it was for season 1...

  • Still the same creater for season 3 as season 1.

  • The walking dead in general has a bigger fanbase, even those who have never played the game and just wanted the card would most likely have voted for the walking dead since its a larger franchise and is and a generally well known show.

  • Season 1 is a glorious masterpiece

  • 4 years later, and this game is still able to win awards

It really is something special, isn't it

  • Well fucking deserved

  • I don't know, I think the LiS fanbase is much bigger than you think. Maybe it's because many fans are always very vocal about the game, but with the amount of money put into it by Square Enix, the huge amount of advertising that went on with it, and so on and so forth, I thought LiS was the way more popular game compared to TWD, a game that, while associated with TWD series, was made by Telltale, a relatively small gaming company and had little to no marketing behind it.

The walking dead in general has a bigger fanbase, even those who have never played the game and just wanted the card would most likely have voted for the walking dead since its a larger franchise and is and a generally well known show.

  • As I expected, that texasgoldrush guy is having a fit over on the Steam forums over LiS' loss on discussion relating to both TWD and LiS.

As said by others, I was completely expecting Life is Strange to win due to it's rather vocal fanbase. Glad we were wrong :D

I went onto the LiS Reddit page just to see their reaction and the fanbase is pretty split on the results. Half of them are praising The Walking Dead and the other half are salty and complaining that it was a popularity contest.

  • So why is Undertale up there?

Yep. They did win. Congrats, Telltale! I enjoyed Life is Strange also, but my vote definitely had to go to The Walking Dead. It's the first game that truly pulled at my heart strings. It deserved this win. Edit: Fixed grammar issues.

  • Holy crap! Congrats Telltale. How's that for a new year's present.

  • Yeah, go Telltale! I thought Life is Strange was going to win, but obviously not.

  • Swear!

    That is fucking adorable.

  • the life is strange fanbase are gonna be so butthurt over this i love it

  • At first I did not like LiS...but after a replay..I began to enjoy it a lot....but I tell you, the fans of that game, the vocal assholes who love to rip telltale apart...MUHAHAHA..jackasses.

  • Pls post some quotes lol

I don't understand why people would get so upset over a certain game not winning. I mean, I can understand being bummed out about a certain game not winning. If LiS won, I would be a little bummed that TWD didn't, but I'd leave it at that. More people voted for TWD, so what? That doesn't change the simple fact that whatever game you voted for on that list was sadder for you than TWD was. TWD winning an award doesn't automatically make you wrong. It doesn't mean the game you voted for is no longer sad. It doesn't have to mean anything to you, unless you decide to take it personally and make it a bigger problem than it really is.

  • They already are.

  • It's like whenever someone says something negative about LiS, his go to responses are either

    1. You just don't get it.
    2. LiS sold more than TWD (in fact, he made a thread on that in the LiS forum on Steam shortly after it was revealed TWD won: On Steam, Life is Strange has "outsold" The Walking Dead Season 1, winning where it truly counts. He appears to think that, because it sold more, LiS is, therefore, the better game.

One of his main arguments is that LiS is more realistic than TWD, despite it's main character getting unexplained time powers and a bunch of supernatural disasters happening as a result of it. This is in response to someone saying how both games are both fantasy but rely on realistic elements:

    Wrong

The Walking Dead finds its realism in its fantasy scenario. The drama stems from the zombie apocalypse, a sci fi and fantasy element.

Life is Strange introduces fantasy elements in a realistic scenario and most of its drama comes for real world elements.

They are polar opposites in this regard.

After the results came out, he had this to say:

This is nothing more than a spam contest of more popular games or franchises winning over ones that are more qualified for the award.

However, as he likes to proclaim how LiS is more popular because it sold more than TWD, I called him out on this:

Oh but if LiS won, you'd be touting a completely different narrative, saying how the people have voted and that it was a fair competition. You're letting your love for this game completely blind you. Also, you're the one always talking about how LiS outsold TWD and is more popular, but now you're saying that games like TWD won because it's a popularity contest. Make up your mind.

    In response:

No I would not have. Self selected contests like these are flawed. Also, I also said franchises. The Walking Dead is a franchise, with a comic and hit TV show as well.

But in his comment, he mentioned games as well as franchises, so again, he's going back on what he said to try and justify the loss.

In another thread on TWD forums entitled "We did it," someone said something like "fuck Life is Strange" (which I think was uncalled for, we should be proving that we handle a win much more maturely than they are handling a loss), and he said:

Yet LIS won in sales over TWD here on Steam, something that counts.
