Are the NF all that bad?

Badger is a exception, but is the NF really all that bad? Most of their actions are a form of retaliation, which may be necessary to maintain dominance during the zombie apocalypse. They even allowed our group in so that Kate could get medical help despite being our enemies.

Killing Mariana was unforgivable and even Clem seems uneasy about them... but maybe there's more to them than can be seen right now.

David might be a bad husband but from what we've seen of him so far (although it is only 2 flashbacks), would he be the type to lead a group that terrorises people and intentionally kills children?

Just some food for thought.

I think the bigger the organization the more there will be different smaller factions in it with different interests and morals. And since Walking Dead has a lot of people walking on grey areas it wouldn't be surprising an organization can be thought as a person with it's own grey areas. Max for instance seems to follow strict guidelines and seems to have some kind of moral code. Not sure what Javier's brother will be like though I feel like he will be a real tight ass judging by the flashbacks and his military background.

The guy driving me in that rig seemed to be following orders he mentions he would kill you right off but since he was ordered not to I feel this was also Max's decision to not get you killed but driven to possibly receive a trial or punishment that wouldn't involve killing you.

I'm feeling NF is a mix bag of tight ass strict code following guys, some good hearted people, and of course guys like Badger who are just bloodthirsty killers.
