And to be honest, if they do try to go that route (which would be very obvious and TellTale of them), I would want them to kill off Gabe solely to expand on Clem's current beliefs.
I think Eleanor's motivations only seem suspicious so long as you lie for Clem regarding Eli's accidental death. That is, you only get to interact with her very briefly and her willingness to help Javi seems out of place.
But if you don't lie for Clem, Eleanor honestly just seems like a really nice and compassionate person, but again, I could be wrong and that could just be her façade.
