Protect your goddamn limbs....

Where do the survivors get bitten most likely and bring out the drama? The arms or legs. So why haven't they figured this out and started covering their limbs with some kind of leather garment? Maybe get some sheet metal over them I don't know.

I agree with you. Groups should try to figure and use z-strategies not just trying to avoid or kill them. Hell, we have seen so many anti-z tricks in all media of twd that survival should be way easier.
For instance Clem could prompt Javi's group to use the gut trick, instead of running like madmen guns blazing.

  • The same reason they don't develop a system to draw the walkers away from their communities through sound.

  • The sound trick is not that easy to perform. The one luring the zeds away could be in great risk.

  • They have a lot of time to spare, some bells in close places being activated through cords should be enough

  • How could Wellington or Preston do that?

  • OMG, do you really want the exclusive details?

Truth is, I don't know, I've never been in a ZA, but it seems something that at least ONE person would've though of at this point.

The camo isn't a feasible everyday strategy because of multiple reasons - chance of general illness from being exposed to decaying matter, especially bloodborne diseases, if not the walker infection itself. It takes time to apply, especially to a large group, and you have to move super slow and not be in rainfall; Even then there's a risk of it not working. There's also the smaller issues of the smell and ruining the clothing.

  • Wellington and Preston are in middle of nowhere with now bells around though.

  • All we need is a Vader suit.

  • "Preston", do you mean Prescott? Also the sound system could work in many other ways, as long as they can have an alarm to go off or any reproductive noise.

Wellington and Preston are in middle of nowhere with now bells around though.

  • Yes, there are no bells around, but they can creat an improvised bell with many sorts of materials.

If not bells, fireworks, alarms (if they have power), etc.

  • Where would they get materials for such armor? In those conditions they lack everything, even food is hard to find and sure they can't manufacture anything. Leather is coming from animals - and there are almost none left.

  • Idk if anyone has seen but in The Walking Dead AMF a lot of people are wearing leather armbands. Maybe for protection?

  • They can just use chain mail.

This will protect people from walker's(they just will broke teeth) and knife's / machete's / whateverfuckelse.

But no, it's bad for plot.

  • Yeah wearing a protective suit and armor is certainly something that will be useful. But it isn't like that I see military gear every day or see a leather glove or suit on daily basis. I think the reason why our protagonists doesn't wear them is because

    a) they are hard to find,

    b) other survivors already found them and herd them, making them rarer

    c) they don't have the time, skill or resources to make them compared to other pressing matters such as finding food or immediate danger from walkers or hostile survivors.

They could start wearing winter clothes and other similar thick clothes. But would you really want to wear winter clothes in spring and summer time and die of thirst? And leather jacket are probably sought after by other survivors making you a target.

Just my line of thoughts regarding on why the characters aren't wearing these things often.

  • You both win.

Yes, there are no bells around, but they can creat an improvised bell with many sorts of materials. If not bells, fireworks, alarms (if they have power), etc.

  • That shit is heavy and makes it harder to maneuver around.

Also where exactly would one find an abundance of chainmail during an apocalypse?

  • The Oceanside in the TV series suggests they already do that.

    You both win.

  • You not have wear it ALL time, just for scouting.

    Find

Are you fucking serious? No find. Make it in your hands, i think people have many free time in apoc for learning about some things.

Just find wire in any store, some books about it in any library and do it.

    Find, Jesus.. find my ass!

  • I'm guessing that's where your charm is. No wonder you want people to find it for you.

I am not saying that it should be abused, but if caught in middle of a herd it is neccesary. In Clem's case it could work.

Yeah, somebody should have thought of that already. But you know. It's bad for the plot.

I mean, they do use leather armbands, but nobody actually mentioned that they are wearing them for that exact reason, and nobody bothered to make any kind of armor.

  • They already do this in the game. They're wearing arm guards. Max and some others could be seen wearing them.

  • If I was in the apocalypse I would wear shin guards and what Tripp is wearing, or at least something like it.
