I meant regarding the intros for each episodes, which I count as Javi's flashbacks. He has the entire introduction in the first episode, then the flashback with Kate and David in the kitchen for Episode 2.
Well said.
Though...
Yes, but only in one of his flashbacks.
So far all flashbacks were about Clementine, i doubt they will switch to Javier. This would mean even less Clem, which would mean even more pissed people.
I remember a bit back someone said the reasons the episodes were so short was because TT said they wanted people to be able to finish them in one sitting, and I pretty much had this same reaction. They're appealing to a crowd the wants an entirely different type of game. RPGs aren't a pick up play type of game, they're designed for longer sessions because they're story oriented. I used Mass Effect 2 for an example, got it on the way to work, only intended to play for an hour or two when I got home that morning, ended up stopping because I realized I had to start getting ready for work.
Most people who want a pick up and play are gonna put on something like CoD, Battlefield, something that gets you straight into the action without requiring a long commitments. You are not going to draw in that crowd because of the drastic difference in the style of game, but you are going to alienate the current fan base. They're here for the story. The other types of games mentioned aren't popular because they have campaigns with action packed set sequences, it's the variety offered in multiplayer. Resident Evil 6 fell on it's ass so hard because it made the series primary draw, its single player, a giant sequence of set pieces to draw in the mainstream crowd. Then they started releasing HD versions of the original games before pretty much rebooting the damn series in 7.
Shorter episodes with more QTE action sequences and less focus on the characters isn't going to bring in the popular crowd, but it will push away the current one.
Yeah, there is definitely alot of characterisation lost from the days of season 1, most of A New Frontier so far has been actionpacked, with… more very few quiet moments, compared to season 1, where there were plenty of quiet moments with tons of characterisation, for example on the first farm, in the drug store, on the Cannibal farm, (before they knew of course), there were so many moments, where you got to know the characters, Ducks death was a great characterising moment for Kenny, and we learn how dangerous it can be to grow too close in the apocalypse, as seen again when Lee dies, I doubt I would ever care as much for any of the characters in A New Frontier, from what we have seen so far, compared to almost the entire group in season 1.
Mariana is already dead, and she probably had like, 10 lines max I think.
I agree with Prescott, we barely even see Prescott in episode 1, and it is already gone now. The lack of hubs and minor sidequests… [view original content]
Exactly, they wont bring in the mainstream crowd with a mediocre actiongame based entirely around quicktime events, as there is way better games to get your action fix. Its not like there was anything wrong with season 1, people obviously liked it, considering its Telltales most popular game.
Also, "finished in one setting"? really seems like a copout, whenever I play these types of games, I always do it when I have a bunch of time on my hands, I can barely even get in the mood before its over if only play for an hour, when I played season 1, I played episodes 3-5 in one setting, crying at 3 in the night, because I just couldnt stop, hell the whole point of these types of games is to immerse yourself in the story, I cant immerse myself very much in 1 hour play sessions.
I dont even know, hasnt it been a general complaint for a while now that the games have become too short? is Telltale just being ignorant? most of the time when I put games like this down if they catch me, its because I absolutely have to, like eating food, or sleeping, heck, when I was playing season 2, I got finished with episode 2 at 1:00 AM, and I was considering just staying up ploughing through the whole thing because it was so good, the only thing that made me go to bed was that I felt I would be too tired to appreciate it all if I kept on going.
Telltale should really just take a step back, and take a good look at what the heck theyre doing, and then stop trying to push away all their fans
I am worried they will ruin this series by throwing away all the things that made it great in the first place, and attracted all their current fans, in an attempt to bring new fans to the series, and as a very recent addition to The Walking Dead fanbase, this worries me, I only played these games this december for the first time, and they have quickly climbed up to be one of my favorite games of all time, as well as Clementine being one of my favorite characters in a video game, (that title previously belonged to Ellie of the last of us, I really like the idea of tough children surviving in an apocalypse scenario I guess)

I think that what they do with a potential next season is gonna be the deciding factor as to whether or not quite alot of fans leave this series behind or continue supporting it, it definitely seems very split as to whether or not people like it or not.
I am of the opinion that A New Frontier has the potential to be pretty good, but I would have still much rather preferred a Clem game, so whether or not the next game focuses on Clem as the protagonist is gonna be a very big factor for whether or not I buy it, and I imagine other people feel the same, not saying a game without her would be awful, but it would have to be pretty special for me to want to buy it, considering the thing I am mostly invested in in this series is Clem, although the world is really interesting as well
Are they going to kill off Clem?
I don't think so. Can you imagine thousands of people wanting them dead? Yeah.
Will Javi join… more the New Frontier?
Most likely, but i'm pretty sure he won't stick for too long.
Will there be another TWD episode?
You mean another season? I don't know, but i hope the answer is yes. Leaving Clem's story when she is around 13/14 would be so lame.
What choices from previous seasons will have a bearing on Clem in season 3?
Seems like decisions from S1 don't matter much, if anything at all
Is Telltale setting up an unwanted relationship with Clem and Gabe?
I suspect it's going to be a one-sided relationship
Are we going to see any other major characters from the comics?
Hope not. It would be really cheap for Telltale to just put a bunch of already well known characters with developed personalities.
Is Clem gonna hit that joint with Kate… [view original content]
At the moment I'd say they would be running from David as well, since he's the leader of the NF. But, the next episode will reveal more about him, his previous and current dynamic with Javi and the rest of the family, as well as Javi/Kate/Gabe's status and security within the NF which also factors into this. My assumption is that David I s going to be the main antagonist of this season - at odds with Javi and unable to reconcile himself with Kate and Gabe.
I see it going either way. David could very well turn out to be the antagonist, or he could turn against the NF (which I think has a lot more substance and potential). For instance, you have the Kate/Javier relationship (to David it would feel like betrayal), you have Mari's death (he might do the reasonable thing and find the fucks who killed her, or just straight-out blame Javier), you have Javier being responsible for New Frontier deaths (David being given the choice whether to choose his 'people' or his family) and Gabe's pubescent whining (which David might do what many of the players were hoping for and sentence Gabe to death).

They can't kill off AJ... It would make Kenny's sacrifice (determinant) seem to be in vain. Towards the end of season 2, a big concept was regarding AJ's safety and having the mantle of guardianship passed on over to you (a change from having a series of people "taking care" of you up until then). It would seem pointless and as if Clem failed if AJ were to die. I don't see how Clem could become anything other than a closed off, broken individual if AJ died and that's one thing Clem could never come back from.
Choosing to stay and watch Carver's death should effect whether Clem will choose to do something similar or even take part in a torturous killing in Season 3. Similarly, this should also effect how other characters view her, with the appropriate responses being that she's cold or worries that she's gone off the deep end.
Are they going to kill off Clem?
No.
Will Javi join the New Frontier?
After what happened with Mariana, he really shou… moreldn't regardless of what David thinks and wants. I think he'll at least be given an offer to join though.
Will there be another TWD episode?
You mean season? Yeah, I think there's at least one more after this.
What choices from previous seasons will have a bearing on Clem in Season 3?
Implying choices matter, here's some ideas:
* Choosing whether to blackmail Rebecca in S2E1 should decide how Clem tries to get her way in the future. If blackmail, she can repeat that. If denied, she can try more 'reasonable' methods.
* Choosing to leave behind Pete/Nick because of their unwillingness to return to the group in S2E2 should dictate how Clem reacts to a similar situation in Season 3, maybe with Gabe for example.
* Choosing to stay and watch Carver's death should effect whethe… [view original content]
I feel like TTG sorely lacks self awareness this season. They're overestimating our feelings towards Javi and think that he'll be able to carry the series on his own ("Clem who?").
Continuing with Javier/Gabe seems like a terrible choice, at least for me, while I like Javier, he is the most bland protagonist this series… more has ever had, and I dont think I would want him to be the main lead for another game
Also, unless Gabe changes massively, I never wanna see him again
Jesus is a safe character also, as in 100% he can't die. I wonder what his purpose will be in this story, maybe he'll stick with Javier and his rebellion or something, I guess we'll wait and see, there's not much to speculate regarding Jesus' role though. What do you think will happen?
My expectation is that David will turn on the new frontier and there will be a divide. We also have the romantic implications between Javier… more and Kate, which will inevitably be found out if Kate does make it.
Javier dying will just be another Lee cop-out, so I don't think they'll go through with that as it would be too predictable and reminiscent. It's safe to say that Clementine is going to make it too. All the others are possibilities and can be easily killed at any moment.
It's going to be an interesting season.
Its basically like if Clem was your daughter, and then some random dude came and gave you another girl, and expected you to care as much for this random girl as you would your own daughter, considering we have been with Clem for 2 seasons now, yet they still expect me to care for Javiers family the way I care for Clem.
Well surprise, I dont care for Javiers family at all, considering the only real character building moment Kate had so far was "Smoking weed lul, wanna fuck?", and Gabes only character trait so far is being super irrational despite being in the apocalypse for 4 years, "Oh, that guy Conrad is raising his voice while talking to Javier after watching his wife get killed, surely something is wrong, better pull my gun", and "oh, I couldnt even help with Kates surgery, better go out and hack in a zombie for no reason, and risk getting killed"
I feel like TTG sorely lacks self awareness this season. They're overestimating our feelings towards Javi and think that he'll be able to carry the series on his own ("Clem who?").
Maybe we, as players will have to kill Clem, by Javi's hands. Maybe we'll be offered a choice - to save Clem's life or save Javi's family. If you are playing in character, you'll obviously sacrifice Clem. And even if you don't - we all know choices don't really matter, so Clem will die anyway. So what?! How many people we liked, died in Game of Thrones, the book, not game? And we still love it. Or how many times new characters replaced the old ones in Dragonlance series? Favorite characters dying (in many cases unexpected) is the best part of Walking Dead, why be afraid of it?
P.S.
Actually, if Clem finds a refuge, where there are no zombies or bad people, and start growing flowers - now THAT will scare me from the game!
I'm not sure favorite characters dying has been my favorite part of TWD, but I'm not particularly worried about Rick or Daryl dying any time soon, because one is the main character and ones a huge fan favorite. Clementines been both in the series until they completely backtracked on ANF being as much a new story as it is a continuation last month. Game of Thrones doesn't really seem applicable, because there's an endgame we've been expecting since the first book/episode with the white walker invasion. TWD has none, just the characters.

I can't help but think this game would have been much better off as a spinoff set shortly after the outbreak, I'm pretty sure whoever wrote … moreJavier and his family thought it was. It seems like they were in stasis for 4 years, and then the game starts and Javier and Kate can resume the sexual tension from 4 years ago, Gabe can resume not having gotten over his stepmom in 4 years, Mariana can...
Well, I don't really know what she does, she prays for chocolate and can hide, she could actually have lost it sitting in the back of the van for 4 years trying to talk to the people frozen in time. They feel completely out of place compared to every other character imo
It seems like they were in stasis for 4 years
So, like a post-apocalyptic Futurama?
Javier and his family all trip and fall into a cyrogenic chamber on the eve of the zombie apocalypse, and wake up 4 years later
Honestly Brad Kane is better suited to family-friendly games. Look at Minecraft: Story Mode - apparently that was good according to people (at least Episode 5,6,7,8 was according to them). Game of Thrones wasn't that great in my opinion and TWD: S3 isn't great as well.

Hard to say. I can kind of see him going his own way at some point.

You know a company that knows what the fuck it's actually doing.
One thing is for sure: So far in S3, its going downwards.
