A bit generic but im going to have to give it to lee.
He got a second chance at life to do whatever he wanted and he chose to to save a little kid, take care of her and help her to survive when he owed her nothing and in the end he dies because of a cowardly idiot who blames everyone but himself for his family dying by kidnapping the kid and causing him to goan wild goose chase after her. Plus the child herself essentially gets him killed by betraying him. I've never quite forgiven clem for that, was she manipulated yes but that doesnt excuse such a horrible decision.
Honestly, I think Ben's episode 5 death is one of the more tragic ones.
In episode 5, Ben shows a lot of signs of improvement, that he mi… moreght just be able to get his act together and atone for his past mistakes... only for it to get cut short by a freak accident; a bad coin toss. His death wasn't caused by anyone, not even himself-- fate just screwed him over while he was on the redemptive path.
And that's what makes it stand out to me. It makes the death feel natural. Like they say, not everyone gets the heroic and appropriate send-off. Sometimes shit just happens, and people go out a lot less gracefully than they deserve to. Case in point with Ben.
They've tried to do other deaths in a similar vein-- like Kenny's S3 death... but that just doesn't work right in comparison to one like Ben's. It has the right amount of underlying tragedy to it, thanks to how his character was handled leading up to it, that made that death feel like a w… [view original content]
You're contradicting yourself. First you say you cannot believe people think Mari's death is tragic and then you continue to say "that's what tragic means". What's tragic is TTG''s writing, that they had to kill her without exploring a potentially great character just to progress the story...
That is what tragic means though. Yes, it's a bummer she died. I liked her too(as much as you could like someone in the 40 mins you know the… morem.) but honestly was a facepalm when she did die. It's just TellTale being fucking lazy again and offing one more character so they don't have to worry about them, just like they did with Kenny and Jane in a pathetic fucking flashback that lasted like 5 mins. Like I said, TellTale thinks that since we know a minuscule amount of Javi's backstory we are immediately in love with his whole family, which isn't the case at all. Most of Javi's family are completely disposable(ex. MARI) because we don't know JACK SHIT about them.
The ones that come to mind besides the obvious ones are Katjaa, Doug, Mark, Boyd(determinant), Michelle, Sarita, Nick, Sarah, Luke, Greg, Zachary, Sam(determinant), Edith, Mariana, and Francine. There are a few other ones that I considered but they didn't quite fit the bill.
The thing with the girl though, you are only one of the few who seem to be bothered by her death which is fine but I didn't care at all about her death. Simply because (and i agree with MrNoodles), there was just no development or time to even care about the girl. It's already a typical shitty problem with Telltale right now is that they can't seem to develop characters very well anymore. I don't care about a single one of the new characters, i don't know anything about them, there is no distinct personality traits, nothing. Same as the characters in season 2

I wouldn't say there are no distinct personality traits, just that some don't express themselves very well due to time and focus limitations.

Doing nothing to save him? She's losing consciousness while Luke fends off a walker for Clem.
Try taking a bath in near zero temperature water. Let alone the shock when you fall in it.
And when Bonnie went for him, Clem tries to break the ice with her pistol. Of course she would. Unless you don't. And falls in afterwards.
No. I said that it wasn't tragic, then Green said "Tragic also doesn't have to mean incredibly emotional for the player." And tragic means to cause sorrow. That's what I meant.

You know what, I didn't even think about that! After all, she did Luke literally the next day, so whose to say she wasn't pregnant the whole time and that's why she kept getting moody at random points?

So basically, she was a really fascist but somewhat unwitting Mama Bear with a number of psychosocial issues!
See, this just rubs in one of my many issues with Jane: there's all these things about her that could've been used to develop her character beyond her archetypes, but they barely expand on them due to being more interested in constantly shilling her as this hardcore "edgy" badass that's mostly superficially appealing.

Gonna have to say Luke. He was probably my favorite S2 character.
When he died, Jesus... My heart sank along with him.
He was an asshole, but Troy got shot in the crotch right before he got devoured by walkers. Shit had to hurt...
I wouldn't say there are no distinct personality traits, just that some don't express themselves very well due to time and focus limitations.
Not to mention the implication that he legitimately liked Jane, even having considered leaving with her just because she suggested it.
Maybelle for season 4 protagonist
Exactly! If i was to say one character had a distinct personality i would say Tripp does and maybe David. But all in all to me it is all very weak

Of course, if you did that, that would be a horrible experience for Luke. But still, unless you dislike Luke, who wouldn't try to save him?

Definitely lee or Kenny (the S2 death, not s3)
Wow, I didn't even think about that. Good point.
Still can't get over Carley's death...
