Using living in the context of having a relationship is just clumsy. There's no guarantee that you're going to be happy for a long time, so … morewhy take that risk? Chances are you'll lose them and consequently become suicidal and distressed (cough Kenny cough). Survival is the priority. All this lovey dovey crap should be anybody's last priority, but I get it, you like romance in films and television. You like to ship characters, and that's fine, but this is a game set in a zombie apocalypse. It just doesn't feel right.
I only like romance in these kind of games as long as it's not forced. I need to have the choice if I want it to happen, such as what could have happen between Carley and Lee.
I liked it back when we had Carley. We had several episodes to get to know her and it wasn't forced at all, hell she was even a determinant character.

I feel like people who have this point of view see the zombie apocalypse in video game terms. Its all about going from one mission to another. Surviving instead of really living.
People ship because its fun and it makes you feel more invested in the characters. Granted, there hasnt been much in the way of relationships in these games that Ive seen. The only one I can think of that has progressed was Rodrick and Gwen from GOT. But again, it mind of helps putting the gamer in the characters shoes when you can see them doing something and human as falling in love.

I was a fan of Lee/Carley, but I despise Javier/Kate because of how incredibly forced it is. It straight-up makes me cringe. I would, however, welcome a romance with Eleanor because I find her really endearing.
Clementine/Gabe is literally nothing more than speculation at this point and people reading too far into some of the dialogue. I can't see it happening either.
I like having a romance storyline if it is well written, well executed and if the characters have chemistry.
Tbh, I don't see any of those aspects with Javi/Kate or Javi/Eleanor. Whilst Kate may have feelings for Javi, I think Javi loves her without being in love with her. I think the flirting between him and Eleanor was a one time thing and I don't see their relationship going into a romantic direction. Javi is just a smooth, flirty guy I guess?
I don't get any romantic vibes / potential crushes between Gabe and Clem and so I won't comment on that.
I wasn't a fan of Bruce and Selina either (although that might be because I didn't like the latter as a character). I was hoping for a Bruce and Vicki angle before... well. I liked the tension between Bigby and Snow and I shipped Jesse and Lukas.
For me a big thing is also that I have to like the characters before I can ship them. Hence why I don't ship Javi and Eleanor.
I can agree with that for the most part, what I disagree with is just me thinking about the whole "safety in numbers" side of things.

Lee's group mostly fell apart because of others or just shitty situations (the St. Johns, Lilly shooting Doug or Carley, the stranger kerfuffle.
Same for S2 really. They were on the run from Carver, the incident at the lodge left up to 3 people dead (not to mention the Matthew incident). It mainly went downhill at the fault of others.

I really have to disagree with this, relationships won't matter if none of you know how… more to make a fire or where to search for food and water. What matters is a person ability and knowledge on how to survive.
Example: there is a group of four people, and only one person in that group has survival skills and knowledge. That person would be better off on their own. Rather then babysitting those other 3.
Only thing groups provided is safety in numbers. If you're someone with the abilities to survive, you'd be good out on your own. Less people to worry about, less mouths to feed, less people to protect.

it's not just telltale. there are other companies that implement romance better into their games. like dragon age, mass effect, and the witcher, to name a few. if written properly, it adds another interesting layer to the story. there are fans everywhere who enjoy it.
The Norway scene was so cringey. At that point, everything is just a joke to you if you can make comments like that while dying, with a group member who has been taken and possibly killed by some bandits. Very Hollywood-esque.
And yeah, the whole Javier/Kate relationship is hella forced. Been saying that for a while now. It just doesn't need to be there, and it's pretty obvious where it's heading. We literally cannot tell her to fuck off, so Kate's gonna sing like a canary to David and a war's gonna erupt. Boo.

I think Gabe and Clem would be great as friends, not as "partners", Clem could teach Gabe, but Clem has become a very Lone Wolf survivor, an… mored I doubt she would engage in any sort of romance after losing literally everyone... twice, and seeing what happened to Kenny.

It's a really good action game but if I'm honest it's lacking in story. I didn't really get attached to characters until the second game.
