haha I suppose it's still the exact same time til release anyway, just counted differently... sure beats the "6 to 8 weeks" shipping time from the US for CMI and EMI that was torture!
Everybody, I wouldn't recommend f5ing ttg till it bleeds to death on release day. The earliest release I could imagine would be 6pmPST/2amGMT. It is more than likely we will get it around 9-10pmPST. So, just think happy thoughts and check it around those times instead of midnight to release second.

I was gonna check after midnight in the am of the 20th and if it's not there just get it later that night. 6-10 pm sounds good.
The best part of the release being towards the the end of the month is that it shortens the wait for the next episode. So the the longest wait would be only be like 40 days. That sounds long but it this episode was released at the start of the month, the wait for ep3 could've been 60 days or more.

Unless one of the episodes gets pushed back a month. *knock on wood*
Didnt one of the Season 2 eps of S&M get pushed back or am I confused?

No Telltale have hit every release schedule. With the Sam & Max seasons episode 2 would be released 2 months after episode 1 though. Then it was monthly after that.
Somehow I had gotten the impression that each episode was going to be released on the 5th of each month, so a release date of 8/20 is tremendously disappointing. Being my first purchase from TTG, I have no experience on other games' releases, but care would seem to be warranted, Hero1, regarding promises of making release dates; why not release the dates more than two weeks in advance (and, in this mind, a day late!) so that we eager fans can manage our expectations better? With this date, it only gives a max of 40 days for Ep3 to make release in September. Fans of the franchise have waited years for this, so a few days may not seem like a bit more - but we've had a taste, and we're rabid for the rest. Right now it seems I am alone in this sentiment, but, as a new customer to TTG who happens to like some of the other brands you represent, I hope you can hear the valid points of this for future work.
The earliest release I could imagine would be 6pmPST/2amGMT.
I don't see why. TT usually release their games in the morning PST, and even when the release of the first chapter was delayed by some hours, it was released before 6pm.
However, I agree that a midnight release is extremely unlikely.

You do know that all thoes episodes are mostly done? (programming, most of CG) all TTG is doing is polishing it and adding some last minute changes to give us best product they can. It's not like they doing thoes episodes one after the other starting fresh...
I cannot wait!!!! Chapter one in my opinion was incredible! all the recent Monkey island news has filled me with so much pirates spunk, that i think im going to explode all over everyone's faces! kidding.

Well that's not quite right, as I understand it it goes something a bit more like this:
In the months running up to Ch.1:
The basic character designs, overarching plot and other high level design elements are all figured out, basically everything that needs to be in place before you can start building a game so it's a lot of heavy planning.
Then it they're working on chapters simultaneously, so at about the time that ToMI was announced they were (more or less) about here:
Chapter 1 mostly built, still needed to finalise music and add visual polish, squish bugs, etc.
Chapter 2 getting voices recorded for it, world being built, etc.
Chapter 3 dialogue and other design-y stuff like puzzles being finalised
Perhaps Chapter 4 in early stages of fleshing out what was agreed way back at the start before Chapter 1 was made.

The two week so-called 'delay' in chapter 2 has probably knocked this slightly off kilter. For example, when Denny Delk was reportedly recording voices for Murray, I expect that would be about the time they were recording voices to Chapter 3 (in other words, don't necessarily expect him in Ch. 2 unless they slotted him in last minute). But anyway, the principle remains... right now they're polishing Ch. 2, Ch. 3 is probably close to being built, Ch. 4 is probably just about written and ready to have some voices recorded for it and so on. I'm just estimating, of course.

still, it took 1 month + 13 days to get the second chapter done this way. why would the other chapters be done faster? I could be wrong, but I wouldn't go completely mad if the games were released within this kind of timeframe all the way through. I'm no expert at ttg release schemes (I got both sam and max 1&2 through retail). I'm just happy to get the games, heh
also: awesome to have a date to look forward to! woohoo!
YES! Now I'll just have to wait a few more weeks for the release... and then a few more weeks for the Wii release... and then some more weeks for the European release...
Does anyone else still have trouble adjusting to the fact that they made another Monkey Island? Just seems unbelievable after all that time... but I'm definitely not complaining

Well, I think that relese of episode one is sort of critical moment, players get to know how the game is designed, music, voiceacting, cg, puzzles and so on, first critique shows on the web, so TTC can react and tweak some details to meke following episodes better.

Because they work on a few episodes simultaneously, spending an extra 13 days on episode 2 also means that they've already had more time on episode 3 and 4 at least (although since they are all at different stages, this extra time may manifest in different ways.)
It's perfectly reasonable to assume, until we know otherwise, that the next episodes will all arrive on the 20th-ish, because that extra time affects the whole series in different ways, not just the first episode.
Think of it this way: When they delayed episode 2 by about 2 weeks they didn't just stop working on episode 3, it meant that they had extra time for that one as well, and so on. The only way that wouldn't be true is if they went back to releasing episode 3 earlier in the month - but there's no incentive to do that. It would mean that 2 and 3 would be released too close together, and they'd have cut out all that nice extra time they've bought themselves.

*SQUEAL*
That's fine. I'd prefer to wait 13 days then live with the imperfections for years.
ZOMG WII WANT MONKEE ISLAND NAO!! ITZ LIEK FIEV SECENDZ INTO THE TWENTYETH AND NO MONKEE ISLAND!!!!

*goes to check release time as I am in Pacific time so nyah heheheh

Can play MI SE till then.

BTW - loved chapter 1. Keep it up.
Okay then...the official time zone is UTC-8.
Now no-one else can try and spin it and complain when it doesn't come out on the 20th in their time zone!
Man, I'm gonna need the Algebros to figure this out.

lol okay I like "Telltale time" tho - TTT! It's actually cool it comes out Friday here - no being sleepy at work the next day.
*makes a mental note for 21st of August* (substituting time difference).

For comparison, here are the release dates for Strong Bad's Cool Game For Attractive People from last year:
Episode 1: August 11th
Episode 2: September 15th
Episode 3: October 27th
Episode 4: November 17th
Episode 5: December 15th
So yeah, they've been known to release episodes 3 weeks apart before, wouldn't be out of the question this season either.
download 22nd and ditto that sentiment
