Posted in another thread, but it's relevant here as well:
For comparison, here are the release dates for Strong Bad's Cool Game For Attractive People from last year:
Episode 1: August 11th
Episode 2: September 15th
Episode 3: October 27th
Episode 4: November 17th
Episode 5: December 15th
So yeah, they've been known to release episodes 3 weeks apart before, wouldn't be out of the question this season either.
Mmhm, to clarify, I'm not saying that it's out of the question, I'm just saying that there wouldn't necessarily be good reason to shorten the time between releases. This is particularly true in the case of Monkey Island rather than Strong Bad, as Strong Bad had a lot of re-use of locations and so there was a lot less to polish after the first episode had been done, whearas Monkey Islands locations will largely be new every time and are graphically much more detailed. If I were Telltale I'd use that extra time that the delay bought them, rather than lowering the release gap to less than a month.
That doesn't mean they will, and indeed it could happen like Strong Bad where the gap closes and so episodes gradually creep back towards the original 'time of the month' from the start of the series. I'm just saying that MI and Strong Bad are very different in terms of both what the games contain and audience expectation.
Because they work on a few episodes simultaneously, spending an extra 13 days on episode 2 also means that they've already had more time on episode 3 and 4 at least (although since they are all at different stages, this extra time may manifest in different ways.)
It's perfectly reasonable to assume, until we know otherwise, that the next episodes will all arrive on the 20th-ish, because that extra time affects the whole series in different ways, not just the first episode.
Think of it this way: When they delayed episode 2 by about 2 weeks they didn't just stop working on episode 3, it meant that they had extra time for that one as well, and so on. The only way that wouldn't be true is if they went back to releasing episode 3 earlier in the month - but there's no incentive to do that. It would mean that 2 and 3 would be released too close together, and they'd have cut out all that nice extra time they've bought themselves.
You mean like one delay to end all delays? I get that. You're probably right. I hope you are
..still I don't see it as a delay though, as there were no release date given until this one.
