How would you write episode 3?

Given that both the first 2 episodes were criticised a lot and there's been a lot of backlash for various reasons, im curious:
If you guys were the writer for season 3, how would you continue the story from the ending of episode 2?
Also, what's something you think telltale NEEDS to do to make it a great episode and what's something that would tarnish it?

How would you continue the story from the ending of episode 2?

First of all, allow us to walk around the area and observe everything in the area.

    For example:
That Howes place (with Jane) - Allow us to look around Howes closer and see what their lives were like living there.
With Kenny (leaving Wellington) - Allow us to see how they survive, what they must do, how they gather food and keep themselves warm, etc.
Without Kenny (inside Wellington) - Allow us to look around Wellington and talk to its people to know more about Wellington.
Alone (with AJ) - Allow us to see the sacrifices they both had to make and how they manage to survive as well as how Clem keeps AJ safe, etc.

This would greatly increase the flashback length. Then they could have a chat with each person in their respective areas. For example:
Chat with Kenny - Talk about life, Lee, AJ's name and what they would do with him, past experiences, etc.
Chat with Jane - Talk about how they would fortify the place, their past experiences, Jane's sister, etc.
Chat with Edith (Wellington) - Talk about what sacrifices had to be made to arrive there, how they survived, past experiences, etc.
Alone - Show the danger they're in and how Clem communicates to AJ, etc.

Then they could all teach Clem something.
Kenny - Teach Clem fishing, driving a boat or driving a car (maybe even how to defend herself).
Jane - Teach Clem essential surviving techniques.
Wellington - Teach Clem in some sort of "training" place (maybe even how to defend herself).
Alone - Clem teaches AJ various things like keeping quiet when there's a walker nearby, though it would be hard.

So far that's all I got - it's still a hell of a lot longer than what we've gotten in Season 3 so far. Granted my ideas aren't the best and are probably worse than what we've gotten in Season 3, I'm not a professional writer like they are (and my Alone segments were... not the best).

What's something you think telltale NEEDS to do to make it a great episode?

Allow us to walk around and talk to characters, and have some optional moments (like in Season 1 Episode 2 where there was a swing set and you could learn more about Clementine, etc with extra dialogue) - having this connects us to the characters more and allows for the deaths to be more emotional (right now for Mariana's death I was shocked for a few seconds or so and wasn't sad at all).

What's something that would tarnish it?

Deaths for "shock value" when we weren't even properly connected to the characters and the fact that it constantly moves on with "action set pieces" and no breaks to talk to characters.
