My thoughts on ANF Episode 2. (spoilers, durr)

After playing episode 1 on release day, like many I was annoyed by flashback scenes amongst other things. I didn't find Episode 1 all that engaging which made me not want to play episode 2 right away. So I decided to wait till the announcement of episode 3 so I wouldn't have to wait too long till I could play episode 3.

After just finishing episode 2 I kind of wish I'd played it sooner, I found this episode very engaging as well as thrilling to play.

The early scenes with Kate's bullet wound were hard to watch, it felt very real and I could imagine the pain of both Kate and Javier in that scene, feel like that scene summed up what its like in the world of TWD now there's no hospitals etc...

Onto the scene where the TNF arrived at the gates, I was unsure on what to do in that situation. I was trying to think of what Javier as well as myself would do in that situation, because everyone is desperate and untrusting of everyone in this world, all guns blazing isn't the way forward. Then they bring out a hostage to make things worse. You're then given the choice to open fire or go down. I didn't want to open fire because for obvious reasons all hell would break loose and I didn't want to go down because anything could happen to Javier. I was happy during this scene because this is what I love about telltale, giving me 2 choices and me not wanting to pick either! I ended up opening fire and you guys all know happens after so I wont dwell on that.

I'll jump forward to the blocking of the tunnel with the cars. As soon as I saw this I knew there would be a horde on it's way. Once Ellie and Kate got away I was unsure on what the group would do, this is where the headed to the roof I thought at this point they need a miracle. And who else to provide a miracle than Jesus himself! I was so happy to see one of my favourite characters in a TWD telltale game, I loved how they introduced Jesus in this, I loved his quick thinking of a decoy was pretty funny seeing Javier's reaction. Obviously he had a plan, but I didn't think heading into a train tunnel was one of them but since it was their only way out I'll let him off.

This lead to them getting predictably fucked in that tunnel, in this scene I was shocked to see Clem was a part of TNF and after that flashback Im guessing that has something to do with where AJ is... I'm concerned as to what has happened to him. OH and the freaking Jesus scene where his did his trademark kick was epic!! Thanks for that scene!

This lead to the stand off with conrad in the train, this guy has had a shitty day. I couldn't kill him - his reaction is understandable considering what happened to his home and wife. So I let him live and take Clem. I felt a bit guilty after ever thing I've been through with her - but this is where I had to put myself in Javier's shoes, he literally knows nothing about her, he still has to put Kate and Gabe first. And after finishing the episode I was shocked at how many people shot the guy!

So far I was loving this episode, I had been very engaged in it. Anxious for characters, unsure as what choices to make and desperate situations. I won't lie I loved this episode, this is what I wanted from a TWD game. Unsure on what I want to do and what I want to do as Javier, this is how you think in the world of TWD you gotta act fast or you're dead and regardless of the choice you might end up dead anyway.

This brings me to the end, holy shit! HE'S the leader!? What does this mean?? Will he let them in, what's he going to do about his daughters death? Did he think his family was dead or did he not care, because I believed him to be dead like his family. This twist at the end makes me unsure of what's going to happen next and I excited to find out, because the villains we thought they were are now potential family or new home? We shall wait and see..

Overall I loved it and can't wait for more. Which I don't think is too long. I haven't really been on the forums so I can't say what others thought but this episode had a lot of redeeming factors in it for episode 1. This was just after thoughts of just playing so I've just typed how I feel.

  • Glad you like it. Sadly i can't. I look at this game and always compare it to how badly it lacks quality compared to season 1. The story is ok but everything else is awful.

Again, glad you enjoyed it though. Don't let others put you off your opinion

  • When I first played these 2 episodes I was onto it but when I saw Kenny I was thrilled like when I first saw him agian in season 2 and after that death I wasn't enjoying anything after that it felt awful then I realized I finished the 2 episodes in 2 and a half hours...I felt sorry for myself and telltale lol
