Are the community v community plots ruining The Walking Dead?
Both the game and TV show right now are going for these plots, but I personally find The Walking Dead better when it is the Walkers themselves that are the main problem or when an individual in a group loses it and goes crazy.
I think the Comic handles it really well with the community wars and big villains like Negan, but for some reason when the TV show and the game try, it just feels poorly done and the zombies quickly become a inconvenience. It's like for the first year of the apocalypse there are no communities and hardly any living people around and yet now we're a few years into the apocalypse and suddenly there are shit loads of people and different communities that come out of nowhere.
I miss the days when stuff like finding resources was an actual realistic problem and the zombies were more hard to deal with and not just the same procession of knifes into the forehead and there you go it's dead.

I don't know about the rest but it doesn't even feel like ANF has a plot. As for the show, I havent watched season 7 yet and dont feel much like it either.
I know they have had two years to make a plot for the game since season 2 and this is the best they could come up with.
I do think there is too much focus and emphasis on the humans with the walkers just being there. Telltales S2 of TWD I felt did this a good bit and ANF a tad as well.
Ehh...the show has a bad history behind the scenes and it's mainly drama for views and there's those boring filler episodes. -looks at Hershels farm-
I think it could be done right in telltale games but I'd like more focus on just trying to survive ..maybe we cant really have that anymore because it's years into the apocalypse idk I'm sure not everyone is looking to rebuild or join a community..
And it kind of just feels like the new frontier is just there to be the big bad..I mean their name is in the title but it's probably going to end with it falling and Javier rebuilding it after David dies or something..kind of predictable and I hope I'm wrong.
If it was just walkers then it would be pretty dull. IMO there should always be a sub-plot.
Yeah though walkers aren't even used much other than a way to move situations on...I guess I just miss season 1
What community is fighting The New Frontier? Prescott fell in a laughable few seconds. Richmond was already taken over before we got there. Maybe Rick's people since Jesus has been introduced, but we'll know for sure if they decide to introduce more comic characters in later episodes.
No way Community makes more sense to be a problem than really slow dead people
You know, it's probably something that can't be avoided. I agree, I think more variety is good, but I don't think it is a serious problem story wise, it makes sense at least to me. More stuff like how the Hunters in the comics were would be welcome. I'm surprised there hasn't been some more kidnappings, serial killers, and the like. But as long as the community conflicts are inventive and creative in some manner, I'm cool with that.
Hey, at least that spike zombie satisfied that. I agree, more stuff like that is definitely welcome.
The constant spawning zombie hordes and gunfire and cars ramming in gates are ruining the walking dead yes, I want more individual character developement and side picking and difficult choices between group members like in season 1, they took a wrong turn and they ain't turning back, just dumb action scenes now.
This is what the show has always been about, not finding resources and not fighting zombies endlessly. It's not Resident Evil. Humans are always going to be more dangerous than the zombies. We saw that all the way back in beginning with that group that murdered everyone in the nursing home.
The plot and characters could've been fucking stellar, but of course, it would take too much hard work to make a good game with developed and 2h30 episodes that balances hubs and plot, so Telltale just rushed out a story draft for some quick bucks.
Really? I thought the walkers were a big menace in Season 2. They attacked Clementine, Nick and Pete at the riverbank, almost got Clementine and Luke killed at the bridge despite only being a few, that big herd destroyed Howe's, the group almost died at the deck in Episode 4, and the walkers got Luke killed on the river. Walkers were a big threat in Season 1 and 2, but in Season 3, they just became a minor annoyance.
Hell, I'd argue they became that in No Going Back. Aside from making Arvo freak out and determinantly pulling the already injured Luke under, walkers are really just mildly inconvenient.
If that is there absolute best then they probably should call it quits after this. New Frontier was their final chance I think. Looks like they are at a point of no return unless they can knock home runs each for the remainder of the last three episodes which is highly unlikely. All the geniuses from season 1 left and the games just have suffered ever since. They really need Kirk-man to help them out too at least before giving up.
I agree with you and Jayroen.
The walking dead is definitely not as good as it used to be. The main reason i still watch is due to the longevity of some of it's main characters. When they get killed off I won't have any interest anymore. Sadly that is because we have had hardly any character development of any of the newer characters on the show or if we have they have been badly rushed to fit into a 45 min episode. The main issue is that there are just too many characters on the show now and I can't even remember half the people's names nor do i care about them when they suddenly die, example Denise or that woman who kept track of the supplies in Alexandria. I just wasn't bothered and that was because I didn't know hardly anything about her nor did she have much screentime and she is just one example. I am one of the few who found Season 2 to be my favourite season. Sure it was relatively slow and not much happened in terms of excitement or whatever but we got to see excellent development with Shane, and the group appearing to try and make a life living on Hershel's farm. The finale of that season is still my fav as well. You don't need action and explosions to make a show good though and walking dead has gone off the mark a lot since those days
No. I like it. They've reached the point where there are other people than just them out there. And it introduces a bunch of new and interesting characters.
I think you got the wrong idea. Thats not what I was saying at all. I feel the opposite of all that you said. I was saying that the show is not trying to be any different from what it had always been, which is about the characters and how they deal with each other and not a zombie survival guide.
I also really like that. It shows to me that the show is not resting it's laurels. Theyre trying to grow and expand the world. It makes perfect sense to me that we're meeting new people. There would be pockets of survivors all over the country. You see that in any end of the world story that you see or read. It is hard to balance that many characters for any ensemble type of show but I think they do the best they can.
I think it makes sense that zombies has become an inconvenience because it shows that the survivors has adapted to this new world and starting to thrive and build communities.
Oh ok. Well fair enough. I disagree as usual with you it seems then lol. I just feel the show was better than it is now. After they left the prison it's just not been the same for me but i'll still watch it
.
ah ok. As i said, for me though there are just too many new characters on the show now. It may be more realistic I agree but it's very hard to care about each new character compared to those who have been around since the start and i just think that any of the new characters won't ever give us that feeling even if they are around a long time
Well, we seem to have different sensibilities. That's fine. At least we can disagree respectfully.
if we just got walkers then people would complain about that too tbh, the comics did the whole alexandria vs the saviors much better than the show so far so yeah just depends on how they present it sorta
That's the thing.. you can't just have walkers over and over again... it would just be like watching a game of left 4 dead. This is why the walking dead does well, because of the drama.
