How Season Two endings could have been a major/important choice in A New Frontier

So here I am, back again with another topic about the flashbacks and season 2 endings.

Basically, I had an idea how of Season 2's endings could have felt like they had a real impact, and felt like they really mattered. Ill post this little chart I made first and then explain it:

Basically we can think of this situation like this. For one, one of my problems with Clem in S3 is how her second flashback she is in the same place at the same time for everyone. It doesnt really make any sense why she could be in 4 different places but somehow finds herself at this same place at the same time no matter what. So what I thought of was: What if the New Frontier expanded it outward and took these people from where they were? Season 3 could very much keep alot of its original story and what its going for, but it would still need to be changed up. One thing that may need to be changed would be Clem would become more of the focus again. But having it so the main cast starts off scattered and then is brought and connected to each other by being taken by the New Frontier. In the end, no matter what ending you get, everyone is going to be in the same place, The New Frontier base. But having them separated so Clem would know some of them before hand also adds to giving players more attachment to other characters.

For example, once everyone arrives at the base, David could not be there yet. During this time the group teams up to escape and they do, but then leads to most of the basic plot, such as Mari getting killed along with Kate ect. At this point we would meet Jesus who then tells us about another Community, but was taken over by ANF, then we need to decide and go back, and then we meet David.

The part about Francine is a little tricky, for it to work in a similar situation, I would assume she would not die if you didnt get the Kenny ending, but would need to die later (possibly during New Frontier escape) just to trigger the Conrad story line (Would also need a plot of how Clem would work as a bargaining chip/ or why Conrad doesnt like Clem, or be completely cut out)

For Kenny and Jane, they would basically work kinda like Nick. Just a Nick who actually does stuff after he dies. The only downside is that Kenny and Jane would still do similar things, but they would still work as key characters if left alive, but they would be very much more like secondary characters than main characters, this would be because in some play throughs they wont appear.

Anyway, thats my brief explanation of this idea of how Season 2 endings would have had alot more impact, while also keeping Kenny/Jane alive.

  • I like your ideas but if I want something to matter of these season 2 endings is for clem to have a different personality..what I mean by that is for her actions being different depending on who you lived with the most which leads to many possibilities for Javi's story to change some for the best some for the worst and it could damage aj like if u lived with aj...but after seeing her with aj these past 2 episodes I think it's to late for that

  • I think it would have been a bit easier had they just spent the first 20 minutes of the first episode following up your Season 2 Ending then go from there

  • Like I said, one main thing that would need to be changed would probs be Clem being main focus again.

However, Javier would become the the real "roll reversal" we were originally told we'd get it. It almost be like how Lee was with Clem, we learn about Javier, maybe even it would be you only play as Javi in flashbacks in this version so you meet David and all that.

  • You've given a lot of thought to these, huh? It's a really cool idea. Loving the diagram there xD

This would really go a long way to tailoring the story based on how we play, and would probably restore a lot of people's faith in this season. I'd imagine for the alone ending, Clem would've started to feel pretty worn down and antisocial, especially after all the shit she's had to go through. It would've been kind of cool to meet Javi and his family without really knowing anything about them beforehand - I'd guess that most people would be pretty cautious towards a new batch of people at this point, seeing's how well groups have gone in the past (insert sarcasm).

Just curious though, how long do you think you would end up keeping Jane and Kenny alive for? For me, I'd probably be satisfied with three episodes, and having their deaths being the huge shock factor we usually get around the mid-way point of the season. For the other two endings, maybe something could happen to Tripp or somebody in Javi's family (Mariana comes to mind, or maybe Kate).

  • I would say around episode 3 as well

  • "Nah, why bother, let's make Clem a swearing badass and give her different Harry Potter scars so we could tell the difference and make choices matter"
