What does everyone hate about Javi?

  • Okaaaay.

He's a douchey guy with humor. He's simple and would be easy to be around. Like a guy you wouldn't mind drinking with.

He's obviously loyal to his family, and determinately a loyal person all around. Depends on who your Javi is I guess.

    He's goodlooking.

Guy is good to have around in general. Compared to the other characters, only him, Tripp, and Jesus would be people I would wanna be around. Clementine is a depressing lil shit, Gabe is an teen asshole, Kate is a slut, David is army dude so he's mean, Tripp is either with you or against you but when he's with he's cool, black dude who will probably be killed next episode is going through grief, Elaenor frightens me with her "pure intentions", and Jesus is actually cool.

So I like Javi cuz he's simple and funny.

    That's not good enough.

  • People here hate Javi because he's not Clem.

  • While others mistake him for a passable character.

  • I always thought he was hated because he kinda replaced Clem

This has nothing to do with anything... why bring this up?

And that's enough reason for this character to be... well... not worth playing.

We need flaws. We need mystery with this character to make him interesting and worth playing as. Why couldn't we played as Omid or Christa I'll never now...

  • Hey, Lee died in the end so maybe Javi will too =)

Had to let my homosexual urges out somehow.

That's too much work for Telltale.

  • I would rather be around Clementine lol, since she is 1000% less likely to get you killed with stupid decisions like: "lets stay in this trailer which is obviously lived in"

  • Javi isnt a bad character at all, hes one of the only positive things about season 3.

The problem is more about the story that takes place around him.

  • I'm sure bad writing could fuck her over too, let's just see how AJ gets taken.

  • I think the story that Season 2 told, at least for me, was not about having influence or affecting people decisions, it was accepting that things wont change, I know this is far fetched, since its my iterpretation of events, and they can change due to the nature of the game, but please hear me out.

In season 1, Clem was my moral compass, she was the reason I didnt kill, she was the reason I didnt steal (well, obviously I have some morals too, but Clem was the ultimate defacto for what choice i would make, and how it woudl affect her was important), but with the opening of season 2, you realize that nothing is sacred, Clementine is gonna live in this world, she will get hurt, there is no Lee to protect her, and for me, the story of season 2 was how far you were willing to go, how much of your humanity do you need to let go to survive? do you not help Sarah? do you watch Carver get bashed? Its very important to Clementines character, since its the point where she realizes that the world isnt easy, and you cant alway do the right thing, people will get killed, no matter what you do, but you can minimize those losses by making the hard calls, you can gain a quick boost in supplies by stealing, but what does that make you? a hypocrite? a thief? at what point do you stop being a human, and start being an animal?

thats what season 2 was about for me, so it didnt matter that people didnt listen to Clem, because it was the internal struggle which was important, and it was choices like cutting off Saritas arm or stealing from Arvo, or watching Carver die, it was those choices that progressed the story and the character of Clementine

I don't really see how he's even close to the protagonist Clem was. At least with her we were familiar with what she's been through and how

  • Sure, Clem can also die, she can get in trouble due to rash decisions, but she is still a way more competent survivor than Javier ever was, and I would feel alot safer with her than with Javier

I don't hate Javi, especially now... He has a beard.

  • Ehh. In reality, if I knew Clem and Javi, and didn't play them through a game, I'd go with Javier anytime. Maybe that's just me, but everyone around Clementine winds up dead.

...Correlation? Holy shit, you're making it sound like Sarah's in the avatar state or some shit and is about to brutally murder Carver if you don't hug and/or plead for her not to.:joy:

  • Naw, dude, it was hilarious! And a small part of me wishes that did end up happening in the game proper, especially since there would've been a decent amount of setup for it.

  • It's very difficult for me to get behind Javier since telltale has proven they're incapable of writing a consistent story with a consistent protagonist. Assuming there are future seasons it's only a matter of time before Javier is killed off or sidelined to a shoehorned supporting character.
