Main Protagonist - A New Frontier

Hey There! So a lot of people have different opinions on ANF's protagonist and I would love to hear some of yours! Please be:

  • Respectful to other people and their opinions.
  • Open to say your own thoughts! I would love to see them.

And I don't know what else to say so have fun!

My personal opinion: I love Javier, I really do, but I would much prefer Clementine to be the protagonist. We have known Clem since Season One and continued to love her in Season Two, so I hope that at least in Episode 4 of ANF (I've already seen E3) that there will be more Clem gameplay.

  • Throwing out my unpopular opinion : I would have prefered David as ANF's protagonist with equal screen time with Clem. I think the duality would've been fascinating to be able to see both perspectives, and give us truly difficult decisions as players. It would've also granted us one protagonist with a hub location ( something a few fans have repeatedly said they had missed since Season 1 ).

Javi is a nice guy, but I'm not sure the writers really gave him enough in Episode 1/2 to compel players to look forward to Episode 3 with the same anxiousness as they've had in the past. I'm fully faulting the flashback narrative they've selected for this season as given the same grow with them through this hardship Clem had, I think more players would be invested in his story.

  • Javier is ok, but I don't understand why telltale created him since they've given conflictive explanations as to why they created him. I personally would've liked to have a tales from the borderlands type of gameplay which gives Javier and Clementine 50/50 playability. This way you can shift the focus into the flashbacks developing Javiers character.

  • I actually like Javier. It's cool to see how the world ended for a different family than Kenny's, Lee's, Clem's, etc.

  • I'd have preferred Clementine return as the protagonist, but I would have been fine with splitting the time with Javier, since it was announced he was also playable and intended to be a gateway for new players in a series welcoming back the old around E3. I didn't really mind since we'd also be continuing the games I've played. Of course, we ended up with 5 minute flashbacks consisting of a QTE and dialogue option, a whole bunch of this new guy I'm struggling to care about, and me feeling like I wasted 10 dollars.

  • Javier's great, I love him, want to see him grow and can't wait to see more of him.

  • I love Javier. He is different and funny.
I hope Telltale will develop his story and character to see again next seasons. Like Rick from the comics. Perhaps a future leader of a community?

  • I said a few times already, but I was originally one of those people who was completely against the idea of a new protagonist replacing Clem after Season Two.
I'm not anymore though, Javi is great. He's a funny enough a bloke and I love how he cares for his family first and foremost.

Season 2 taught me that Clem is fine protagonist for Kick-Ass game, but not TWD.
