My Thoughts and Expectations on Episode 3 (spoilers)

I'll be quite quick to explain, so I can get my ideas down. Keep in mind that I only played it once, so I might have interpreted parts wrong.

  • I hope Tripp's slight anger towards the New Frontier actually develops into an emotional situation in future episodes. But at the same time, I don't want Tripp to have any anger. It would crush my previous thoughts of Tripp being this 100% kind person.

  • David seems way too kind and more open than expected. I imagined he would hold a deep grudge against Jav, and he would have to slowly earn his respect back in events.

  • While in that building outside Richmond, I kept hearing "Joan" and wonder "Who the heck is Joan?". Only later, when actually meeting her, I knew.

BADGERS DEATH

  • I noticed a nice slow of music and sound when Jav chose to keep bashing his skull. I think that really pushed a level of depth by reciprocating his mind. In match to that slowed, distorted music, it represents Jav exposing a dark, cold side of his mind that just wants to kill this man.
  • Also, Negan reference? Probably, I imagine.
  • Badger's crushed head looked like a frozen piece of jelly (in regard to form). Where did skull, the skin or the eyes go? There should be reminiscents scattered all over. Unless I missed them.

  • Some Clementine lines induced cringe. Like the words "goofball". Or when Clementine actually accepted that hug from Javier (which I totally would not have expected based on her character for the first 2 episodes...) I imagine the majority won't agree.

In the eyes of a developer, I would have made a huge time (and I mean HUGE) time skip between episode 2 and 3. Mostly for the fact of my character development for Gabe -- who, now a grown teenager, would become a ruthless, generally uncaring individual (but NOT dumb at all). Usually kneeling down, wearing a hood, but always keen.
This development would give actual meaning towards Gabe saying he "wants to become a man" and make me more invested towards him.
