Lingard is a super interesting character and we've seen so little of him!
First of all, his voice actor is freaking Amazing. I don't know his name but he did a superb job.
I knew that Lingard had issues from the episode 3 Clem flashback but I had no idea how bad it was for him. The man needs help and I really hope we can give it to him. Something I found really interesting in his devotion to David. I knew they were friends but I never expected David to be Lingard's only reason for living. "Your brother got to me care about everything I'd given up on. Myself, other people, even this goddamn place. With him gone I don't want to care anymore." I have no idea what he's gone through but it's clearly a lot. I believe it's heavily implied that he had a family once and losing them has taken it's toll on him. I'm really interested in Lingard, so it's a shame we only have one episode left.
What do you think about Lingard?

I would love to have more time to know Lingard. He seems to be a very compassionate person, and is desperately trying to numb it through his addiction. Personally, I hope they give him the same sort of attention they've given to Conrad as far as his status, and if you spared him he has some time in E5 helping or reuniting with David.
That's one of the problems I have with this game, we barely no most of the characters past lives other than Javiers family and Clementines. At least in season 1, almost all the supporting characters in the first episode gave us a little insight on their past lives so it made them somewhat interesting. But I agree, Lingard was a very interesting characters and I really wish we would know more about his interaction with David and what not.
It's Yuri Lowenthal, who you might recognize from Naruto, Naruto Shippuden, and the Ben 10 sequel series. Knew it was him the moment he started talking, oddly enough.
Dr. Lingard was probably my favorite introduced in Above Law, as I think his shady appearance and voice made a fair number of us wary of his presence around Kate, Eleanor, and, in the past, Clementine and AJ. However, he ended up being proven to be a pretty great guy, all things considered, as he warned Clementine away from stealing medicine but kept it quiet and even tried to get her another chance when she was caught before apparently taking care of AJ himself after she got kicked out(which may be why he eventually got better despite Lingard's supposed "curse") in the past, vouched for Eleanor's release after complementing her work, showed defaulting support of David in his meeting with the rest of the Council, and even seems disgusted at the revelation of Joan's backdoor operations before she manipulated him into backing down or alternatively tries to buy David some time when Lonnie pins the blame for the raids on him.
His behavior during his appearance in Thicker than Water brings his previous tendency to get high and Joan's exact words in getting him to "agree" with her in a depressing light, as David not only got him to kick that addiction but also help give him something to believe in after all he's lost. So to see him bargain with Javier and determinately Clementine using AJ's current location as leverage for his assisted suicide is really messed up. Even his voice seems less like a guy who's giving up and more like someone who had enough a long time ago and this decision was such a long time coming that he's not very worked up about it beyond some bitter sounding words, high or not. So while it's really sad that this man was at such a low that his death was essentially used as bribery, it's also somewhat refreshing knowing he chose going through with that rather than continue being a major part of something that's caused and may continue to cause death and suffering of the outside world.
Shit, really!? I love Yuri! I can't believe I didn't notice.
I really like Lingard and hope we'll see more of him if you didn't kill him. Too bad he's had so little screen time and involvement to the story. I would like to learn more about Lingards past after hearing him in EP4.
Well he's dead in my game now so...
I really liked the idea of active drug addict and as soon as he was introduced he seemed super interesting. Too bad he is determinant now, I feel like he won't be handled as good as Conrad was.
I remember Episode 3 coming out and everyone talking highly of him, but I just didn't see what the big deal was. After Episode 4, I completely agree, this is definitely a guy that has suffered a lot of tragedy and, with the help of David, was able to come back from the edge of the abyss. Too bad I killed him in my game, he easily became one of the game's better characters.
He was such a great character in this game so far. Great voice-acting and development. But I killed him because I wanted AJ's location and didn't want him to suffer anymore.
Lingard is my favorite character this season and is quickly jumping up to the overall list of faves. I really hope we see more of him in ep. 5 like being able to tell him that David didn't die, at least. I hope he doesn't die anyway if you didn't kill him. At the very least make him Unknown for his status, Telltale.
I'm honestly just annoyed that we had to stab to stop him from turning if we "assisted" him. Why? Because moments later, surprise! Joan blames us for his death. Which I figured would happen, so why not just let him turn so they think he killed himself? But I couldn't do that... Ugh there's so much room for depth but I'm stuck with 2 simple choices this entire season. But Lingard is a n interesting character.
Agreed. He's actually my favorite along with David, Clementine and Javier and has been so before Ep.4. Now it's been cemented though. I liked how he sort of started as a character who could turn out to be... pretty much anything. Like, I had my own theories based on certain interactions but some other people thought he was a creep... and he could have been since so little was known about him.
But as it turns out he seems to be a good, compassionate person... but a deeply troubled one. Someone who has taken too many punches and simply can't deal with it anymore... unless he once again finds a reason to care. We have had characters like this before but to a lesser degree. (Kenny for example.) It was interesting to learn how David was the one to get Lingard back on track and how he's pretty much the only reason he keeps going. He seemingly lacks the "survival above all else" mentality. I mean, obviously he needs something to care about in order to go on whereas some other people are like "Well I'm alive and that's all that matters. Screw everything else."
I personally want to see the poor guy get back on his feet again. He's definitely capable of doing good. I really hope Telltale won't go the lazy way when it comes to his status and future role. I want to learn more about him. Like said, he's super interesting. Telltale could have done so much more with him.
Yeah I would love to hear more backstory about him in game because I know some character backstory including lingard was revealed on the AMA yesterday I hope he doesn't find the courage to kill himself if you rejected the deal like I did.
His voice actor portrays his character perfectly.... I wish he was involved in the story more.
I was disappointed. The group could've needed a good doctor, but Lingard was just a weak-minded drug addict who gave up AJ even though he could be saved. A "great doctor" he is. Such a shame.
You still got Kate my friend.
Hopefully he lives if you refuse and returns in EP5 with a potential reunion with David.
well atleast he s better than Carlos.
´´Is that a dog bite?´´
Carlos: ´´Could be...´´ Doctor of the year gentlemen.
Uh what makes you say that Kate is a junkie? Because she smokes a joint?
She candidly talks about doing drugs along with having a history of doing drugs.
That was just stupidity on Carlos's part.
"Love is the best drug... one of the best drugs"
Is that what you are referring to?
I think someone here mentioned he had played Sasuke, I only watched the english dub up until Zabuza before moving over to the sub but I never would have guessed lol. He's definitely been one of the more likeable new characters this season.
I dunno if it's so much wasted potential as it is untapped potential. Though I suppose wasted potential vs. untapped potential is pretty much a glass half-full/half-empty kind of thing.
Which is ironic considering I used to fucking hate Sasuke and especially Sakura at first.
Oh I can understand that, they're still two of my least liked characters tbh. Major props to Lowenthal, I feel like I usually pick up on VAs I'm familiar with when I hear them.
I really like his character. It was super disappointing to see him end up a determinant character in episode 4. I was really hoping to hear more about his backstory. FRUSTRATING - but maybe we will learn more about him in Ep 5 if we've kept him alive.
i just think he has problems and he didnt want to go on. honestly i dont know why people would save this druggy doctor over finding where aj is tbh
Because suicide is never the answer? Because we didn't want to kill him? There are plenty of good reasons and the location of AJ isn't a good enough reason for me to kill a man.
family first . we have priority's. he wanted to die. he had problems he asked us to do this. yeah i get it. he was high af. put it like this. if you had a kid that was lost and you would never see him again unless you get this info. wht would you do
I like to think that I wouldn't sacrifice human lives for a location but I can't accurately predict what kind of person I'd be in that situation.
Point is as the kind of person I am, I know that killing Lingard is wrong, regardless of what information he has.
i guess everyone is entitled to thier own opinions so i respect yours. but consider this quote from glenn. "id trade a thousand of them for any one of ours" on a normal day where he isnt holding the only info we need to save aj. i would not have done it. i would try and get him help. but unfortunatly that wasnt the case.
dont know if those were his exact words but its was close
Well, to me they both are just as "good" as the other.. in terms of their doctor-skills. Katja is still the best doctor so far, but unfortunately had the same weak mind as Lingard.
Even though Lingard was a surgeon for years, Carlos was presumably put in charge of Rebecca and helped Kenny with limited supplies, and Katjaa's only patient died.
It doesn't matter if you kill him or not since we'll find AJ either way. It was a choice telltale gave the illusion of having high significance and moral conflictions which I think they executed well.
Yeah, I assume Joan/Clint is heading out in that direction because they knew of his existence.
